STORY
On the slopes of an Italian mountain, we stumbled upon a perfectly preserved, long-forgotten traditional Italian home. This quaint yet charming dwelling beautifully captures the essence of everyday Italian life as it was for most people decades ago.
Today, we’re taking you back 30 years to share the story of Ugo and Pietro, who once called this charming mountain home their own—a home they inherited from their parents.
The brothers, along with their wives and children, lived together in this small house. Despite its modest size with only five rooms, there were once as many as seven people under its roof.
Ugo and Pietro were modest, hardworking men, each with demanding labor jobs, while their wives devotedly worked at the market held in the town center.
Such a way of life is rare today. After their parents passed, the children left to embrace modern living, leaving the house behind. Now considered nearly worthless, it remains unsold to this day, a relic of a former era.
Join us as we explore this forgotten home and reveal the lost history of traditional Italian life. Don’t miss this unique journey back in time to experience a way of life that has nearly vanished.

So sad this didn't go to younger family – or if there were none, which seems unlikely given the number of children in the photo?, then even to someone local. It's so tragic that the warmth of family life could not continue on. In past generations, there was beauty in every home. Now utilitarianism, Brutalism, mass production, functionality has destroyed so much beauty and humanity… never before has any civilisation upon this earth been characterised by so much ugliness as there is now in the modern world, a deliberate vandalism of all that is artisanal and hand crafted – and of the human soul. The beds are so gorgeous.

Consider this: if Bros of Decay were wondering round some social housing, now so prevalent in the UK, in some imagined future scenario – what would remain to show the humanity and personal effects of the people who lived there…. Almost nothing… Governments want people dumb, dependent and sick. They actively want to herd people out of private homes and into state provision, crushing people with council tax that is totally unaffordable so that they have no option but to end up in council housing…. and it leaves no trace of the individual.
I have to finally comment on the wonderful way Danny enriches each video! His additional commentary is always so interesting to the video . Thanks Danny for a job well done!

It is interesting how some things are completely decayed, yet other things look unaffected, like the invoices from the 1960s. Also, the clothes! Usually, fabrics deteriorate.
I wonder if the little toy is Topo Gigio? I remember that character from when I was a child. It looks similar.
