Tony – and in real life so many of his generation of Italian Americans – had a type of ridiculous "respect" for the stupidest of things. All about ego, and becoming insulted if they weren't viewed as the top guy.
Of all the horrible parenting Tony and Carmela both displayed, the one thing they never did was bad mouth each other (intentionally) in front of their kids. Tony never let Meadow or AJ disrespect their mother which I can respect.
I get that with my father inlaw alot.As a father you are used to paying and provider. As a kid, it's more about respect and being able to return the favor.Saying we are going to be alright.
God damn! So many feelings and apologies over a dinner. I guess this is a consequence of living in big cities. People can't stick to rituals. Who pays the tab and when? In a small village, I guess that's easy to figure out. But in a big city… Everyone has pretty much his own ideas, that many times collide with other's ideas. And it's not like anyone is trying to step on anyone else's toes, it's just because of sheer numbers. And the apologies… Been there, done that. After a while it gets so frustrating that it gets depressing. You apologize once, people expect you to always do the same. You end up not doing anything else. Or, if you stop, they consider it a lack of respect. Better to simply pack up and leave the whole thing behind than having to deal with that shit. In psychology these are considered power games. And playing one might be fine (even if psychologists recommend people to avoid them at all costs) if there are only 2 or 3 players. If the number gets larger, it becomes hell. Because once the game becomes frustrating, in order not to totally get upset beyond repair, one must give the game away. Talk openly about what upset him, why, etc… And that it's really hard to do. Especially if the people involved used unfair strategies. Stuff like… you sit there, because the chair is smaller and you won't be as tall as me. And if between 2 or 3 people that might be achievable, even if I doubt it, when the numbers become higher, all hell breaks loose.
Tony was in the right, but the way he conveyed he was totally wrong. He should've lauded Finn's respectful gesture of goodwill towards his potential FIL, but insisted he pay, especially since Finn and Meadow are scraping by to live in some inner-city apartment
I've only seen references to this show here and there but if people think this is realistic then no wonder I scare the s*it out of people. I didn't realize mob bosses always pay and I never realized I acted like one. At least the Hollywood version of one. Hilarious honestly.
Tony is right. Throughout this whole series Tony shows a great knowledge and practices proper etiquette. If someone who is not the head of the family wants to pay for dinner they should first get permission from the head of the family.
In the end it didn’t matter. The Bill was a made guy, and Finn’s MasterCard wasn’t. Tore up the reciept so his mother couldn’t even give him an open casket funeral.

Tony – You’re lucky you don’t get your head handed to you…

I am not in the mob, and even I, as a girl dad, would be offended at what that kid did.
when you have your own family you would understand the importance of fresh products.
I’m surprised that Finn didn’t grip him up by the throat!! He was trying to do something nice, and Tony disrespected his move.

Finn is a genuinely nice guy
Tony is angry because the kid undermined Tony’s authority within the system in front of his kids. Control is extremely important to the sociopath.
ça j'appelle ça un suppositoire
c'est oss117 , il m'a influencé
"You eat, I pay" If only someone would say that to me
Dude doesn't even tell his girl that he's paying for dinner 😂
So funny look at the water in the glasses!😂😂😂

"You eat, I pay" are usually the last words out of my mouth before I start having sex.
I don't like anyone doing me favors. Because most people think you owe them something in return.

Meadow knew what was coming 😂.
You are a good guy.. I respect you for trying…..))
Finn had some balls to even date meadow in the first place. Like if a girl tells me their father is a mobster boss I’m dipping straight away lmao
Imagine being so morally corrupt that you mistake a simple gesture of kindness as a provocation
