Bringing classy back teaches you the right way to use your knife and fork. We will show you the American way and then the proper way, the way Europeans do it.

  1. Is this woman insane? No sensical person would eat from the backside of the fork, Europeans switch the position of the fork in the hand for shoveling food

  2. My mother used to eat this way and i find it….pompous, arrogant, showing an offensive attitude of superiority.
I eat with my fork in my right hand and cut with my left hand, i use the fork the right way up and hold my knife and fork the way i feel comfortable and i have no problems, the only problems i see are other peoples pompous attitudes.

  3. A classic YT video – someone who doesn't know what she is talking about making an instructional video!
You can't possibly be demonstrating waving the cutlery around when talking, or raising your knife to your mouth! What a terrible video!

  4. So if you flip the fork upside down Euro style, how do you eat things like rice and black beans — things that slide off?

  5. Unless you are left handed, fork should be in your right hand and knife in the left. Why? Guess.

  6. im american and i use my righ hand for the fork with prongs facing up and when im cutting i put the fork in my left hands and i use the knife in my right hand. however in america when youre left handed it goes in the lefthand unless you are cutting

  7. I like the idea of the European method however it seems to me the fork is curved in such a way that it's meant for the food to be on the other side rather on the back side.

  8. Thank you. I'm 60 and my husband has impeccable table manners thanks to his Martha Stewart Mother. JK. I how ever do not. Thank you for teaching me in a way that I can understand. I'm on a journey to growing old gracefully and leaving behind a legacy of elegance and peace.

  9. 33 years old having grown up in New Zealand and Australia, I only just learnt the 'correct' ways to eat, and they make no fkn sense to me.
    1. American way – why would you swap the fork to the other hand? It seems annoying when you could just keep it in the same hand!
    2. The British way – you're piling the food onto the fork while the concave is upsidedown. It's going to fall off. Turn it over!
    3. Assuming she's right-handed and using the knife in her dominant hand. Why? Surely the fork is the primary utencil here. I am super uncoordinated using the fork in the other hand.

IMO, the concave of the fork has the added benefit of spoon-like abilities, and the dominant hand should be using the primary utencil, the fork. All this proper ettiquette seems like nothing but pure wank.

  10. I've lived in America all my life and I've never ever seen anyone hold their fork in their off hand while using the knife, then switch back. Everyone I've ever known used the knife in their off hand always, so that the fork would stay in their dominant hand the whole time.

  11. It would nice if you had a plate with food in it: rice and saucy beans- Many Americans hold their forks and knives LIKE A DAGGER! UGH so embarrassing-

  12. I'm here after watching a certain movie when a poor girlfriend visited rich guy and he was teaching her how to use cutlery😂😂 I have always known this as ahotelier but wanted to confirm something

  13. Just a few points to add. Avoid waving your knife and fork when having a conversation. Also, when putting food in your mouth, your hand goes to mouth, not head to fork. Lift your arm off the table, rather than diving at your food! Thanks for trying to bring classy back.

  14. Americans do not switch hands. We sit the utebsil we are not using down. Why hold a knife while eating rice and beans? Is it to intimidate the waiter? The fork has a scoop. It is patently obvious why it was designed that way. How do you even use a held upside down one?

  15. It's stupid to eat with the tines of the fork facing down, European style. Why would you try to balance a piece of food on the back of a fork? Turn it around and use the tines to pierce the good and bring it to your mouth without the risk of dropping the food. I'm sorry, but the European style looks like you're shoveling the food into your mouth and trying to balance the food on the back of the fork. The tines and curve of the fork are there due a reason. Use them.

  16. In the UK only our kids hold the fork in the right hand and shovel food. Correct way is always fork left hand, knife right hand. Unless you are left handed of course.

  17. I learned proper table etiquette when I was 7 years old. I’m 41 now. I work with 20 something year olds and one even has a masters degree and he doesn’t know how to properly hold a knife and fork. He holds the knife as if he is going to stab someone.

  18. A great advice for south asians or hand using eaters who willing to reside in Western Countries…..

I'm from Bangladesh and wish to live in Europe for the rest of my life.
