Got any fun superstitions—er, "LIFE HACKS"—to share?
I got 1 I'm a Hocky fan n my team Carolina Hurricanes lose I change the wallpapers on my phone but when they win I leave them as is
So, if they sweep your feet, you'll never be swept off your feet…I see … 🤵👰♂️ 💍
There is no such thing as superstition people like to dwell on that sort of thing,if something was going to happen ,it is not because you made it happen that is just life!
Being American ,I agree with the air conditioner about making a person sick . I get sinus colds because of it every summer. So it's a trade off . Either be cool and sleep comfortably or have a sinus or other problems. I hate the heat . And she is right the cold air can make a person sick if your hair is wet or your bare foot and wet . Salt over the shoulder is to chase the devil behind you away so no more bad luck happens to you.
Very good Eva, the sacred and the propane… 😂
I'm with Eva 💨
It’s real history is a holy day in the Roman Catholic Church! Assumption of the Holy Mother of God . That is the real reason for this holiday.
I live in Southern Colorado, and in the spring there is a wind, and it is a bad wind. It is relentless, and if it continues for a long time, it definitely drives one crazy/sick.
There is no such thing as luck…good or bad. We cannot make it one way or another. But there ARE blessings and curses. God sends blessings. Always pray for blessings.
Nothing wrong with bare feet! Except in the snow ;). Grounding is good for you! (bare feet on bare earth)
This is all the same BS I heard everytime I went to Calabria too!! I will be there in a few weeks too.
As a French / American couple, we can relate to some these same European superstitions and differences. 😂❤
Gira d'aria
My Sicilian grandmother had many bad luck warnings:
It is bad luck to throw a hat on the bed.
A bird in the house is bad luck.
It is bad luck to spill the salt.
Never ever jinx anything by being arrogant about the outcome in advance.
It is bad luck to throw stale bread away.
You hang a cross over every door inside your house so no evil can come inside.
Never, ever toss a bible or rosary.
And too many more to list!
Similar to not gifting a knife. If you give someone a purse or wallet it must have some money in it or you are fateing them to never have enough money.
My mother, who believed in the moloiks (molocchio), also refused to share even the best news for fear that it would bring bad luck. This extends to not telling me that my infertile cousin was pregnant until she was in labor. I think I broke that day from her relentless superstition.
I Abruzzo i heard much made of "La Voglia". Basically if a pregnant woman sees some food that she then craves but is denied it, wherever she touches herself the baby will have a birthmark that resembles the denied food. So they try to satisfy all cravings and if they cannot the women will touch themselves somewhere that will not be seen and cause obvious disfiguration to her baby.
I walk around in bare feet ALLLLL THE TIME and I never get sick.
I’m a 66 yo women and we New Englanders go out with wet hair all winter long. 😂
Actually, the US is the only place out of over 100 countries visited where people don’t worry about AC making you sick/creating poor air quality.
LOL – all of this are in some degree the same as in Portugal. Mau Olhado – also you yawn a lot.
I am not italian , but I am a superstitious person .
I always carry with me in my purse a tiny silver sunflower 🌻 is my charm 💛
The sunflower is a simbol of hope, luck a healthy harvest .
Also is my favorite flower .
I love it .
Thank you I enjoyed the video .
Hugs from Utah . ✨️💕🌞🌻
"The Ides of March"….when Cesar was assassinated. bad luck, period
I heard that finding the crust of bread behind a door is extremely bad luck to Italians. Is that true?
I live with a Siciliano. I am American and find all of this hilarious. And yes, there is a village “woman” to take care of things. So funny!
Caterina's mom is ABSOLUTELY right! That was because she didn't cover enough.
You catch a COLD because you get COLD…😂
By the way, you forgot to mention the THREE HOURS of wait after lunch before diving into the sea, which is one of the most frustrating issues during summer vacation every Italian kid has to stand for all his childhood, due to the fear of a DIGESTIVE CONGESTION (which is FALSE, at least to the extent italian moms claim its danger). It is indeed a physical situation present in all medical books but in my life I've NEVER witnessed a single case (all over the world, in Italy it won't happen for sure) and probably no one has…
I wait an hour before bathing, but that's because I usually take a nap after lunch… 😂😂😂
Magic, superstitions, charms etc. are just things that science has not yet proven.
If any recent studies are accurate, Italians have the highest IQ in Europe. Maybe their observations aren't to be casually dismissed just because they sound superstitious?
humidity affects the process of making dough everywhere in the world. AC lowers humidity. inability to compensate for this is a skill issue
