This is my first time here watching one of your videos and… WOW this is so incredibly helpful, even though I think I have reasonably a good sense of my decor style, still I believe with the ideas you presented I can found out something new :)))
Subscribeddddd. Thank you!
North Star was such a good point. Ugh sometimes I think I'm going so well in my design and I see homes like yours or your inspiration photos and it's like oh I am so behind. It's always a grind. I guess we love to improve.
where’d you get your lovely top?
Woman, your vulnerability on this, and in general… I am so here for. I have been watching your videos for about a year or maybe more. I love watching your videos so much because, the way you talk, I get so wrapped up hearing and feeling what you say. The way that you design and teach others tips based on not just what’s cute or in style but also relate how to make things functional for how our individual brains work makes things make sense and become more intentional. Little shit like having drop zones, having dynamic heights and layering, not putting too much onto one wall, the list goes on what I’ve learned from you. Thank you for doing what you do. It’s fucking awesome and very inspiring.
Yes, I admire that vase. I did immediately. 😄
Caroline, thank you for doing this! Your blood, sweat, and tears didn't go to waste! We love you!
Love you Caroline ; ) hahahah you are awesome
Is there an opposite of a jump scare? Because that’s what I felt with that one shoulder top reveal. Jump love!!🔥😍
Why are you crying, Caroline? 🥺 GET SOME WATER, GIRL 😉 Hugs 🤗 [Crying is good, BTW]
Caroline! I am so grateful for you. You are my favorite designer. You give me courage and insight. I have paused a room remodel because I just couldn't figure out where I was getting mentally stumped. I was reading through your list of design words and as "edited and classy" came into sight I had a eureka moment and said, "CALM! I WANT MY ROOM TO BE CALM!" Now, I know the direction I need to take. Thank you.
Love it!🤩
### The Ultimate Guide to Find Your Interior Design Style
*Intro*
00:00 – 🛡 Explores how to discover your interior design style, addressing common problems and ways to experiment without spending a lot of money.
*The Pinterest Problem*
01:16 – 🤖 Platforms like Pinterest and Instagram aren't the best for discovering new styles due to their algorithms that limit exposure to new options.
02:00 – 💼 Offers a Pinterest board with a wide variety of images to expand your exposure to different styles and designers.
*The 3-Word Method*
02:45 – 🛡 Instead of searching for a specific style, identify three to five adjectives that describe your design style for better representation.
04:07 – 💼 Styles don't have to be defined by popular names; it's useful to combine characteristics like modern and rustic.
*How to Describe Your Style*
07:15 – 🤖 Use a list of adjectives to identify and describe your personal style; these can be words or phrases that paint a clear picture.
*Creating Your Mood Board*
08:21 – 💼 Filter your inspiration images to find your "north star," a limited collection that will guide your design decisions.
*Luke's Home Tour*
09:01 – 🛡 Presents an example of how to define a style through a visit and review of a brother's space, highlighting the importance of experimentation.
*Design Tinder – pt. 1*
10:41 – 🤖 Use a "design Tinder" method to select images you like and better understand your preferences and tastes.
*Design Tinder – pt. 2*
12:06 – 💼 Filter your initial selections to arrive at a coherent set of images that reflect your desired style.
*Luke's Mood Board*
13:25 – 🛡 After the selection process, create a mood board that reflects a Zen, modern, and clean style.
*The Instagram Trap*
14:18 – 🤖 Make sure you like living in a style, not just seeing it in photos; experimentation and paying attention to your reactions in person are key.
*How to Experiment with Styles (for cheap!)*
14:51 – 💼 Conduct small experiments in your home, such as changing the style of a corner or piece of furniture, to test different styles without significant costs.
*Designing with Your Personal Touch*
16:00 – 🛡 Ensure the design style you choose reflects your personality and personal preferences rather than following fleeting trends.
*The Importance of Functionality*
17:22 – 🤖 Consider the functionality of spaces when choosing your design style. A good design should be aesthetically pleasing but also practical and comfortable for daily use.
*Mixing Styles*
18:04 – 💼 Don't be afraid to mix styles if it better reflects your personality. Combining different elements can result in a unique and personalized design.
*Finding Your Design Influences*
19:03 – 🛡 Research different sources of inspiration beyond social media, such as design magazines, books, and store visits to gain a broader perspective.
*Understanding Color and Texture*
20:15 – 🤖 The choice of colors and textures can radically transform a space. Experiment with different combinations to find what best suits your personal style.
*Budget-Friendly Design Solutions*
21:12 – 💼 Use accessible design solutions like DIY and affordable furniture to achieve a stylish look without breaking the bank.
*The Final Touches*
22:40 – 🛡 Add personal touches like artwork, accessories, and plants to give your design the final touch and make it truly yours.
*Conclusion*
23:00 – 🤖 Interior design is a personal process that should reflect who you are. Experimentation and patience are key to finding a style that makes you feel at home.
So much great substance in this video, I'm utterly impressed by you, Caroline. 🥹 Thank you for all the resources, definitely going to study them !!
I need help with my front hall that's super high ceiling with a staircase! (Yall it sounds really fancy but it's just a ranch with an upstairs addition) Help with my front hall please! I can message picsss
I'm going to translate "a little bougie maybe" —he's ready to impress the ladiezzzzz
how long she's going to say "jeers doofy?"
What do you do when you have a pretty good idea of your design style and then a completely different vision for one specific room?
For most of my home, I want sort of a rustic industrial, but also a bit mid-century modern and maybe Scandinavian but not minimalist. And then some quirky elements that show our personalities – a wall-to-wall shelf displaying the Lego city that we've spent a decade collecting and building, a wrought-iron leafy branchy wall piece that doubles as a ukulele holder, my art glass lamp shaped like a frog conducting an orchestra, my partner's Swedish Chef art print hanging in a gilded frame in our kitchen, stuff like that – all set against an earthy palette of muted sage, steel blue, taupe, linen, with the occasional pop of terra cotta or turmeric. Peaceful and homey, and then…
The main bathroom. I've been obsessed for years by the idea of painting it a rich vibrant teal with stark white shiplap wainscoting and gold accents.
I've been putting the bathroom project off because I'm worried it will feel like a slap in the face compared to the rest of our home (which is still, admittedly, a work in progress), but I definitely don't want the teal/white/gold scheme in any other room. And I'm absolutely in love with both visions. Can they possibly work together?
Love this video and I really appreciate the Pinterest board! I was finally able to put names to the styles I like, so thanks Caroline.
Not sure if you'll read this but… why no vlogs 😥 I loved them and would be a total supporter of you doing more!
I’m new to you & I’m loving your videos!
I love how real you are. Yes drink water❤
Caroline, you are unique and special, and it shows through your vlogs. You are so funny, smart, beautiful, and have such a good heart. Tell the world to kiss ur shrimp grits! 😉
Hugs from Savannah!
I am slowly preparing for moving into a small apartment that has nothing going on in it. Meaning that I will have to furnish it from scratch. And I have never got a chance to decorate space – I never had my room even. So it’s a bit scary, but binging your videos definitely reduce that anxiety.
But I have a question – is there a way to combine different wood colors so that they make sence and look coherent together? Like wooden floors and wooden furniture, is there any principle behind it?
our girl deserves to take a good cry when she needs to <3
I just watched your video. I wanted to tell you I cried my heart out last night and I am fine now. You are not alone. I love you ❤
Dont do pintrest or tik tock. Get overwhelmed by them. Just google
thank you for your honesty. love it
Omg yes! Pinterest (along with Spotify, instagram, etc) has gotten so much WORSE!! Because it’s so much harder to find new stuff!! They thought tailoring our feeds would make the experience better for us but it actually makes it sooooo much worse it’s so frustrating!!
Hay!! I discovered your channel recently and you’ll never know how much your videos have helped me get thru these past few super difficult weeks. They’ve also inspired me to let my quirk flag fly with my own YouTube videos. AND decorate my home (I framed a blanket and hung it up) ha! Thanks for the work you’re putting out into the world. 🤍adore you.
Can you recommend designing a video game/anime themed room
“Swipe left/right” – On Pinterest swiping left or right is a mechanism for moving backward or forward within the collection of images on a board. How does this help one narrow anything down? All it does is navigate through the images. I don’t get it.
Love you! I totally get the crying thing. It’s like a good cleanse. Never realised the dehydration thing was maybe why I would feel so spacey afterwards tho. Makes sense. Great video. Lots of great energy and excellent info. ❤
I'd say my current home interior style is light, airy, and modern… Almost Scandinavian, except with wood pieces that are painted black instead of keeping their light natural wood color. Someone described it as the pixies from the Fairly Odd Parents decorated 😂😂😂. Literally, everything is black, grey, and white. Years ago, I had a warm, minimalist, rustic vibe. I completely changed everything over the course of 5 years. Has anyone else changed styles instead of just sticking to just one style? I've thought about changing my style again to an Indian (the country) vibe. I love change! It's so much fun ❤
I am still trying to understand how you’re a white nationalist when your last name is Fuentes and you’re not white
stumping you instead of humping you?
