Today we’re continuing our Wine in 5 series looking at the famous, prestigious Italian appellation and village of Barolo (Nebbiolo).

Wine in 5 tells you 5 things you need to know about all the top wine appellations around the world, 5 things you possibly didn’t know about them, in ABOUT 5 minutes.

In previous episodes we looked at a Bordeaux region (https://youtu.be/EVZOdOr36_Q) and the Spanish Rioja (https://youtu.be/ErvkNHjgKQ4)…

Today I want to take you to Italy and look at arguably the BEST of all Italian wines, but also one of the less understood wine appellation from Italy, namely Barolo. Don’t forget, at the end of the video, we’ll rate Barolo on our World Wine Appellations Leaderboard to see how it ranks in the world of wine AND reveal the most expensive ones that you should probably taste before you die, so stay tuned. While they whine, we wine.

  1. Good clip. The only thing I would take issue with is your comment that Barolo is low in tannin. I drink quite a lot and it is high in tannin, unlike Burgundy. In fact I had a co-op Barolo 2012 last weekend and, although the tannins had softened a little they were still noticeable.
I am currently drinking the 2011s and 12s whilst waiting for the '13s, 15s and 16s to mature. In fact the 2018s might be ready before the '13s.
Thank you for your informative videos.
