  1. Subscribed to the newsletter! I probably should have had my newsletter taster taste it before, but I'll take my chances

  2. Edible Mushrooms are Aposolute Best Healthy Food . with some unique vitamins and sources not found in any other food !..how Idiotic someone could be to dislike mushrooms !

  3. If you don't like when mushrooms are tough or squeaky, you can cook them a bit longer and they will have an umami flavour with a nice soft texture.

  4. There is so much diversity of mushroom flavour and texture. Similar to whiskies or wines, explore to find the (non-toxic) stars for each palate. What makes our first or culturally/spatially prevalent experience is not the whole space of the edible fungi available to us!

  5. I bet this recipe would be amazing with asparagus. The sweetness mixed with the sulphur taste of the asparagus would be a hit.

  6. Felonious Trump is apparently so afraid of poison that he only uses brand new little bottles of ketchup with his well-done steaks. That was reported by his personal aide, oddly enough.

  7. I knew about the male animal/bird was more colorful so as to draw away a preditor, but his excreatment would be a challenge left to the food taster and not myself/LOL… wonder if a snake bit you if indulging on some rooster poop would save the day?

  8. Speaking of which… Kronk's spinach puffs must have some history behind them, right? 😊

  9. If you are not a fan on the "squeaky" texture of the mushrooms ether finely chop them or blitz them in a blender and it will almost be like a mushroom bruschetta, it removes the texture but allows for the umami flavour of the mushrooms, definatly worth a go

  10. thank you poison testers.
we know what we can eat and can't eat.
your sacrifice wasn't… entirely in vain

  11. Just speculation. But maybe he wasn't deliberately poisoned with mushrooms at all. There are a lot of mushrooms that only make some people sick.

There are a lot of mushrooms (e.g.Coprinus comatus(*)) that cause no harm, unless you have ingested even a small amount of alcohol, either four days prior or within a couple of days after you ate the mushrooms. Symptoms are nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and palpitations. Those mushrooms basically acts as a natural Antabus, only a bit to well, and a bit to unpredictable.

Most mushrooms, may cause allergic reactions, to the same people that are allergic to shellfish and insects. That's why some people get asthma after eating the Quorn brand vegetarian products.

Then there are mushrooms that only are poisonous to some ethnicities.

(*) Coprinus comatus is quite delicious. But remember, most fermented food contains trace amounts of alcohol, and a lot of food get slightly fermented just by drying or even ripening.

  12. Looking at the general description honey glazed mushrooms seems like a pretty good time. Something to try out different mushrooms too.

  13. Mushroom texture used to be a problem for me as well. I am autistic and lots of food textures can be a problem. If you want to find a way to happily eat mushrooms, I have a recommendation. First cut the mushroom into THIN slices. Then you have to really cook the mushrooms until they have browned. Most people would say that it is overcooking the mushrooms, but those people don't have a problem with the texture! Taste wise, they can't be overcooked unless you burn them.

  14. I saw something the other day:
"i wonder how many royal cooks were executed because the food tester had alergies"
