  1. It doesn’t matter if something is historically poor. Meat used to be expensive and whole grains and fresh veg were peasant food

Today it’s reversed because of inflation and subsidized meat

And being broke is expensive. “Just buy in bulk bro” is advice for people with a minimum level of privilege. Buying bulk for someone living paycheck to paycheck is the difference between paying all the bills or not for some people

  2. One of the problems is people often don’t have the knowledge or the herbs to make the Mediterranean diet economical. Herbs are expensive.

  3. Thanks for great ideas. A store I shop at often has olive oil, buy one, get one. I always look for that sale. I store mine in the fridge and it lasts a long time.

  4. Thank you for another informative video! I read an article about canned food; that the FDA requires a certain amount of heating where it's too much and everything in a can is pretty much dead, and contains no nutrition. The only thing I buy in a can is tomato paste. Otherwise, I try to use fresh or frozen; Some organic and some not. I stretch meat expense by turning it into soups adding barley or rice, or turn it into a casserole, mostly. Than, vegetarian pasta is an inexpensive meal too.

  5. Thank you Dr. Pleet for all you inspirational work, I love to learn from you and have fully committed to the diet. The one thing I find a little hard though is cooking with beans an lentils, it's not that I don't like these foods but I am one who likes color in my meals, which so much easier with produce and fish, but legumes are just brown or beige and that's not appealing to me. I do not eat meats or poultry due to health issues, but I eat tofu, tempeh and lots of fish.
Could you please share some ideas on how to cook colorfull meals with beans and lentils? Thank you so very much again for your work and encouragement and motivation.

  6. Healthy Foods lifestyle 🕙 to eating & Together to eating different foods .Thanks like to live yours Neighborhood .thanks .

  7. Thanks for your videos. They are extremely helpful. For a budget friendly food, my husband makes a crock pot of beans. We add herbs and spices. The bean soup last us for about 3 to 4 days. And also my husband and I make a bulk of whole grains. Example is bulgur, quinoa, oats, whole wheat pasta to make greek pasta salad, and some soups adding some barley to it. We also buy Ezekiel bread a few at a time and keep in our freezer until we're ready to eat it.Those are some ways we do a budget friendly meals on the Mediterranean diet

  8. Many fresh veggies need to be washed, cut up and briefly blanched in hot water. Some need to be frozen in pieces before bagging for freezer storage. If you freeze most fresh veggies and then cook, you get a pile of mush! Freezing fresh fruit for smoothies is fine.

  9. Ohhhhh, you lost me, I call bull on canola oil, it is processed and horribly bad for our body's highly toxic, sad you offered that as an option, and you are a doctor???? You may want to review Dr William Li his studies, he is a scientist and is very involved with studies and research on what is horrible for us, and not. Folks please do not use canola oil. Costco EEVO which is an oil that is real, not fake, and not that expensive and it will last you forever.

  10. I pretty much follow what you have stated to keep the budget in shape. Great tips
