Music by @tellyourstorymusicbyikson

[Music] this homemade pasta salad lasts 25 years and can be cooked without heat a cold pasta salad is great at a Fourth of July picnic and with a few extra steps it’s great on a trail too we start with a bunch of fresh chopped veggies along with blackeyed peas and cooked pasta then we mix up a mustard and vinegar-based dressing we avoid oil and mayonnaise based dressings because they don’t freeze dry well then we distribute on freeze dryer trays and it goes into the freeze dryer for about a day when it comes out it retains its shape and most of its color and nutrients but it has absolutely no water left we package it up and it’s ready for the or it can be stored in these myar bags for about 25 years when we’re out there this requires no heat to reconstitute we just put it in a jar add cold water shake it and then wait about 10 minutes I think it’s ready the texture comes back and it’s almost as good as fresh this can be reconstituted right in the bag too

  1. I love your food freeze dryer I want one soooo bad!!! They're just expensive as heck lol

  2. I just pre-ordered their cookbook, I am so excited to get it!!
I am not a hiker, but I do like camping, and all their meals look so, SO good!!

  3. You should flip your knife over, when you scrape food off the cutting board. It dulls the knife. Pains me to watch that. But I love you 2!! I watch all your videos❤❤

  4. A small hint to keep your knives sharp for longer: use the non-sharp side of the knife (just turn it 180°) to push whatever you just cut off the cutting board🤗
Love your videos! Always great to get inspired🫶🏻

  5. I can’t afford a freeze dryer, but I’m glad you two post so many recipes that can be freeze dried and/or dehydrated. Last year I started a job that gives us a one month long paid sabbatical at our three year mark, with job security when you get back. I’m already in the starting stages of planning for my first ever multiple day hike to go on for my sabbatical 🤞🏻

  6. I honestly want to make some of your recipes to keep for storm prep! I feel like this would be a lot better in an emergency than protein bars and Mac and cheese on a camp stove
