Thanks for watching the video Back to Where We Belong…Or Is It? Return to Life in Positano

we’re Nikki and Carlo and we live in Positano Italy except we also just bought a house in Tuscany which we’re currently renovating so we live there too join us as we turn this house and Olive Grove into a dream home and get to grips with living in two different parts of Italy the strange thing about living in two different places is that when you’re in one house and it’s time to back up and go to the other for a while you find that you don’t want to go but the same happens in the other house you settle in quickly and in the end it’s just home and when it’s time you don’t want to leave there either apart from Tuscany and the Amalfi Coast I’ve spent quite a bit of time in England lately too a third home you could say so all in all even though I wasn’t too excited to come back to Positano with so much to do in Tuscany still I’m actually happy to finally be here after all it’s on L home and where our family [Music] is I’ve been away for 11 days and I’m back and there’s not much food in the house I don’t know what they’ve been eating but I’m going to write a shopping list and uh go and meet Carlo it’s very complicated now this is why so Carlo has been complaining that he can’t do the shopping because every time he goes out he takes the dogs with him and Indie doesn’t go on a scooter so he can’t pop down to the shops and you can’t go byy cars here because there’s nowhere to park so he says he hasn’t been able to do the shopping so he’s obvious been waiting for me to come so he’s taken Indie for a walk H’s with me she’s refused to go with him I’m going to walk up with Holly take Indie from him give him the shopping list and he’s going to take the scooter and go down and do the shopping and then we’ll have food and we can eat apples and fruit in general I write the shopping list in English and then he PHS me for the shop and he’s like what is fruit I’ve come back to all the Roses blooming it looks glorious look at that looks even better from up the [Music] steps okay okay let’s go get Indie and send Carla off with a shopping [Music] list Carla said that when he came back his carbs hurt for the first few days cuz he was out of condition from climbing the steps so this is my first time up and I suppose I’ll report back in a 2 or 3 days and tell you how my legs feel [Music] I was feeling kind I rewrote the shopping list in Italian for him [Music] [Music] bye definitely the best way to do the shopping send somebody else to do it for you go home and wait for it to come to [Music] [Music] you fore Ted [Music] M other than what I’ve written on the list you’ve got dut peaches and nectarines we’ve got fresh cherries because it’s cherry season here at the moment they’re big juicy black cherries really lovely this is a casualty of carrying shopping down 500 steps bit squashed smoked mozzarella Capers cucumbers apples beans chip peas it’s 10 to 2 we haven’t eaten so I’m going to make something quick and I’m going to make I’m going to make very obvious an insulat a rice salad so we want rice we want mozzarella we want a little bit of red onion we want some cucumber we want some tomato tomato there tomato and I’m sure I’ll find something else to put in it I forgot to show you what I was doing but I’ve chopped up some Tomatoes little bit of zucchini some cucumber a little bit of red onion some black peppers black peppers black olives one small tin of tuna half a mozzarella and I’m mixing it all with some salad rice and some homemade mayonnaise because I didn’t realize there wasn’t any and I didn’t put it on the shopping list [Music] [Music] [Music] the morning after I arrived back I went down to the beach to meet Elizabeth we hadn’t seen each other since March and she’s had a tough time lately she’s moved house which is always stressful in patano because of the steps she lost her beloved dog Blackie and then her eldest goat chip add in raising two kids 25 goats running a company with 11 boats and working 13-hour days 7 days a week and running her own YouTube channel she has a pretty busy life [Music] outdated do me the courtesy dress I met her as she just sent a boat trip off we hugged there were a few tears and we sat in a bar for a while catching [Music] up change the next day Carlo and I took the dogs for a walk down to the beach Elizabeth had to drop someone off in prano by boat so we all came along to enjoy some time together confidence and sense in the midle me in the midle F me [Music] out it a quick trip on a boat is tonic for the soul the sticky salty air makes you breathe deeper the movement of the boat makes you feel alive a peachy Sunset and some good music music was an added bonus [Music] too [Music] good it was late when we got back to Positano so we ordered pizzas and ate them at the blue star desk a perfect evening in patano [Music] [Music] and [Music] pizza morning [Applause] [Music] feeling young crazy F feeling young [Music] crazy since we’ve got back we have been asked lots and lots of questions people are very very curious about the differences between Tuscany and the Amalfi Coast and I think the most asked question is how are we finding it during the steps do our legs hurt after spending months without doing them yeah it is not the same things when we are here every day if uh we go in a flat place and then come back the muscle are muscles muscul muscul muscles yeah I I actually found it wasn’t too bad for me um on the second day back I could feel my carves but they didn’t hurt you know that real pain that you get when you can hardly walk I didn’t have that so I think there’s muscle memory there so it hurt a bit on the second day after that I’ve been fine and I have been doing the steps once or twice every day so that’s at least one, 2,000 steps a day so not too bad Holly Hol you’re not Holly poo You’re not hly poo You’re not hly poo there we go okay I want to to talk about feeling when I stay here when we stay in tosan I feel more here okay I just want to get a pair of Scissors because I can feel that Holly’s got a huge dreadlock here and it’s got to be cut out because it’s easy [Music] [Music] see even though we have people we want to see here the difference here is that people work all season and it’s hard to do things with friends because everybody’s busy working whereas there it seems to be just a different way of life in fact this morning as we were walking up the steps Cara said it’s a bit like living in two completely different worlds and flipping from one world to the other and you can’t compare them because they’re both completely different from each other see see see but it’s a different type of work I think they work differently where here it’s very fullon and a lot of people uh like Elizabeth and pepper uh out from half 7 in the morning till 9: in the evening every single day and they don’t get a day off whereas in Tuscany Lorenzo has Mondays off so Monday is the day to go out and have fun with them and it’s it’s it’s [Music] different and the other thing that I’m finding difficult is is the fact that I keep forgetting things in various places so obviously I’ve spent a lot of time in England in the last few weeks as well and at the moment I’m a complete mess now you all know that I left my phone in Tuscany and flew to England well I left my keys for here in Tuscany I left my hair straighteners in Tuscany I’ve left my electric toothbrush in England this morning I went out and I left my phone at home and uh um this morning I also spent about half an hour looking for two dog leads which then I realized were in tasy and yes I’ve got to get to grips with things being in different places and remembering to bring the important things with me my my reading sunglasses I think are in Tuscany because I can’t find them here anywhere um yeah so that’s sort a bit frustrating and I need to get to grips with that [Music] okay [Music] it’s been interesting reading the comments from you guys because uh there’s a lot of uh different different ideas and opinions there’s people who think we should spend more time here in posetano and people who think we should leave posetano and go and stay in Tuscany and people who seem to be happy with us wherever we are thank god um but it’s yeah it’s been interesting to see what everybody thinks of it there as well because it’s um it’s very different to hear even though it’s still Italy still the Italian dream it’s it’s it’s very different and it’s been interesting to see how Carlo has adapted because at the beginning he wasn’t sure if he would be happy somewhere without a c view because he’s lived in patano his whole life so the SE view is just part of life for him so to live in a place where you can’t see the sea was a very strange idea but in the end it hasn’t made a huge difference n a fat differential no no I miss the sea for sure but I’m I’m good without the sea I think also because there we have that wide open view of the Rolling Hills off to the mountains in the distance that because we still have a very big open view it it makes sorry it makes up for it did I just bunk you on the head I’m so sorry anyway we’re going to spend the rest of the month here and just just get back into our patana lifestyle before heading back there to carry on with the works and seeing it will be summer when we get back we’re going to be doing some stuff in the garden I think [Music] [Music] Sunday lunch in the garden is one of my favorite things to do I love the ritual of preparing a meal with the radio one in the background laying the table and then sitting there for the rest of the afternoon [Music] both of these recipes pastor aloro and fennel and orange salad can be found in my recipe book there’s details at the end of this video or in the description box below this time we were joined by Elizabeth and the girls and Carlo’s cousin Andrew who ended up getting a lesson in Napolitano okay oh yeah do oh yeah oh oh yeah [Music] [Music] can you speak like this quch quch is that right like this it no no foree this is the worst langu this is the worst language class ever The Village it’s difficult I’m trying to learn one language at a time but you have to learn two here that’s the thing I know it is you don’t learn two you learn one you hear another that’s the challenge isn’t it yeah but we can ask how B feels bra is not even here

  1. I also live and grew up in a very transient and seasonal tourist destination. During season, the population triples, every year. Everything is wonderful, the weather is fantastic, there are many exciting things going on, and beautiful people, everywhere. However, for us who live here, we have to work throughout the season, perhaps three times more than normal. It is very hard to make and keep interpersonal relationships (non-family). Then, the place becomes completely insufferable during the off season. Moreso every year. Were it not for family, I would have never chosen it, and now I'm stuck. You're very fortunate to have a pied-a-terre in two places and hopefully enjoy the best of both.

  2. its all to be appreciated, it's like you are experiencing the best of both worlds. Over time you will know when it's time to make Tuscany your more permanent home, and Positano where you go to visit and catch up with family and friends,…and the sea views. for now just enjoy both.

  3. I love watching your videos no matter where you are. I watch because I love the daily life and the Italian experience (and sometimes England). I love your story telling in general and will tune in no matter what. 😊

  4. Hi Nicki & Carlos, I’m a regular follower but a quiet one. I’m seeing Volcano reports about Campi Flegrei activity. If this worsens you could be trapped at Positano as evacuations from around Naples will intensify. Have you considered returning to your country home where you can get out to shop etc. before it clogs up ?

  5. Ciao! Come stai, fratello mio Carlos?

  6. Such a beautiful video being on the sea. I love seeing you all together again and you two will have wonderful friends wherever you live. Each of your homes are so special.

  7. You need a master list for each place you are moving to. We go away in our motorhome a lot and having a master list of all the basics that get moved each time (which constantly gets added to) really works. Have one for each of your 3 places. Ps. Absolutely love your videos, thank you. 💙

  8. If you ever need a housesitter, painter, cleaner, cook or gardener for Positano, I will do it with LOVE.🤗 You have paradise in Positano!❣️🇮🇹

  9. Beautiful to see you both in Positano ❤️ I love Tuscany too, best of both worlds
We have been on a tour Spain France Italy as soon as we landed in Italy I felt at home❤
    Family and friends 💖

  10. Hi Nicki, at 1:08 I noticed the absolute cutest pink Vespa on your kitchen shelf. I’m in love with vespas so could you tell me where you purchased it? I’ll be in Positano in September. Thanks👍🏼

  11. I am amazed to hear there are people who have the audacity to tell you where ”they think you should live”. People never cease to surprise me in new ways. 😅

  12. Love love love this vlog! Recipes, boat rides, family at home! Beautiful clips of Positano, thank you for all your amazing vlogs!

  13. Nicki I wanted to ask are you still going to work as a makeup artist? I know you’ve been busy. Cleveland Texas ❤️

  14. Hi, to you both. Just wanted to say how much my wife and I enjoy watching your videos, we are new subscribers, having discovered your channel, whilst researching for our recent holiday in Sorrento, including a boat trip to Positano, which was beautiful.
Glad to see you have purchased a property in our favourite area of Tuscany. We have many wonderful holidays there staying in Pontedera and using the train, to get to Pisa, Florence, Luca and Siena.
Our favourite restaurant is a seafood, pasta and pizza place called II Gambero, , no website, for it , only good food and wine.ciao John, uk

  15. That's what I call one more way "Good Life" is to me, dear Positanos,❣️Thank you for taking me along your beautiful homesteads, picturesque places, creative projects, loving and caring ! Carlo, I thought the elevator you showed us last time, was at your neighbourhood???❣️🇬🇷❤

  16. My dream is to live in Italy soon. It’s been on my heart for awhile. Your channel fuels that dream 😊

  17. Nicki to solve a lot of your problems with leaving things you can have a set of utility items you need for each place. You still have to take your phone with you but for that I have a cross body bag and I always put my keys and wallet and phone in it instead of laying them down wherever I visit. I just keep them in the bag and don't take them out of it unless I am using them and then I put them right back in.

  18. Hi hi so wonderful to see you in positano ,forgetting things in different places, probably you need to write a list of the things you need to take with you ok take care blessings to you all 😃🙏❤️

  19. Ники, здравствуйте. Дайте пожалуйста ссылку на ютуб канал вашей подруги Элизабет.

  20. How lovely to sit in the garden having Sunday lunch with friends. It can happen occasionally in England but it is just occasionally in our summer. It is nice that you have different friends in both homes 😁

  21. My family and I vacationed on the Amalfi Coast last June. We had a beautiful home in Praiano. It was truly the most wonderful vacation of my life. You are incredibly blessed to have homes in these two locations. All the best.

  22. Both places are just so heavenly looking my dream is to visit Italy one day😊 you guys are very blessed no matter where you are. Quick question I keep seeing on YouTube rumblings of the super volcano are you concerned In positano ?

  23. You go where you are comfortable. Change location as many times as you wish. We like the videos from both places. I think the second hand stores you have been too are the absolute place to shop. Thank you for doing what you do.

  24. Whatever floats your boat is how I feel! Moving here or there is very personal and if it meets your needs then go for it! Once upon a time I married into an Italian family and I loved Sunday dinner with family! Too bad I couldn’t just divorce the husband and keep his family who I dearly loved🤣

  25. You live in two beautiful places. The sea of course is the place to be in summer, was your plan to spend fall winter in Tuscany? Lucky that you can enjoy both.

  26. I was recently in Italy for two weeks. I visited both Positano and Tuscany. I can certainly understand your sentiments.
Both places are completely different and beautiful, but I completely understand Carlo’s love for the coast and being close to his family. I grew up near the coast too ❤
I’ll never forget my visit. My heart now holds a very sentimental place for Positano and the Amalfi coast. 🍋💙

  27. I love that rice salad. I really really like this vlog. I enjoy watching you guys around the house. Shopping cooking. Not just remodeling.
When i make pilaf (rice and chicken) i always shop cucumbers and tomatoes and add to the rice and drizzle a bit of ranch over it.
    Same thing you did. Almost.
It must be a European thing. 🤷‍♀️

  28. For me, what it’s the most important is that you are both happy… it doesn’t matter if that’s in Positano or Tuscan.
But having you guys now living in these two different places, both spectacular… it’s actually a wonderful aspect for us viewers, because it’s awesome for us to be able to see and learn more about these two regions of Italy! So thank you SO MUCH for this!!!!😍😍😍😍😍 I loveeee the Italian talking with Carlo!!!! Wonderful! Thank you!!!
I love you Nikki & Carlo and your family and friends!
    May JESUS bless you all!!!♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

  29. Always good to watch another video with you both. Great to see you back in Positano. What is Elizabeth’s channel on YouTube?

  30. I totally rely on list lists lists when traveling between places. You’ll work it out. It isn’t anyone’s business where you live – but yours.

  31. Nicki you won the jackpot with Carlo and i applaud you for that! What a dream man (and i say that with respect as woman to woman), it is very rare to find men like him nowadays. You guys are lovely together and i wish you both eternal love ❤

  32. I still miss my childhood home by the sea and yet the memories get sweeter and more savoured as I age. Everything is beautiful with a loving family, friends and of course our doggies😍👌these are the real treasures i will allways value and enjoy most in life. Home is where your heart is for sure😃😘

  33. I found your YouTube videos by chance and I am enjoying it immensely. I was born in Torre Del Greco but now living in Florida, I have lots of family in Torre and surrounding communities. We will be coming to Sorrento next May to purchase an apartment. Love love love watching
