[Music] [Music] a passimento is an Italian wine making term which refers to the grapes being dried or partially dried before they are fermented and a wine is made from them now it’s um quite common in red wines wines like amaron for example less common in white wines uh but we have an example here from Sicily this is the Nero Oro gillo aasim Mento 2023 vintage for saleing Majestic $1.99 is the regular bottle price $9.99 if buying is a mixed half dozen and that’s the price in Scotland too so the grapes are gillo and it’s made with two techniques of drying one is to pick some grapes and dry them on mates in the sun which is a classic technique the other is also classic but less often seen where the bunch is actually Twisted on the vine so that the stalk is Twisted knotted uh and nutrition stops flowing into the bunches and they lie there in the sunshine attached to the vine just slowly drying out these are then mixed together fermented and bottled without any oak on the nose well you’d think this quite deeply colored green gold wine was quite sweet on the nose it gives that impression then on the palette oh there is a little bit of residual sugar here there’s kind of no missing it but it gives it a kind of candied fruit peel like kind of candied lemon candied mango maybe but quite Broad in textured um very fruity very easy to drink 133% alcohol so not too high and finishes with very nice Clarity good acidity um matching this fish and chips might be really good with this I would think um but a really interesting wine made by this interesting technique from the dried grapes this is the Nero Oro gillo aasim Mento 2023 byon Majestic at $1.99 or $9.99 in one of their deals it is my wine of the week [Music] [Music]
