They produce a variety of fine wines, under different labels and are located just outside of town. This is a review of three of their wines from Montepulciano.
Montepulciano is a wonderful town to visit, and if you a wine aficionado, it is a place full of wine culture.

[Music] [Music] bono hello this is greg the wine traveler and today we’re going to try some wines from vecchia cantina di monto portiano it is a cooperative they can produce [Music] wines under various labels and they can make wines of a budget type of wine to very nice wines and on the road into montepulciano you’re going to see a very unassuming factory and there they have a small shop not very fancy and you can go in there and try some of their wines veggia cantina is readily available in the united states so you really ought to give them a try [Music] the first one we’re going to try is the rosso de monto paciano the rose of the monte pociano is meant to be as everyday wine it’s not aged as much as the other wines obviously it’s a sangiovese when it sits out the aroma of the sangiovese comes through with a nice cranberry flavor coming to me and nice berry a very nice easy drinking wine have this wine with any meal [Music] the next wine we’re going to try is 2015. this wine has a 91 james suckling rating on it which is pretty good the wine is very smooth a classic san jose the aroma is coming out very nicely again it drinks very nicely and relative to the price it’s a really very good wine [Music] what i like about these wines is the alcohol contents only 13.5 percent whereas in california you might get wines that are much higher in alcohol content so you have to do some things to it to get it to balance and these ones are much more balanced at this level without being too fruity [Music] the last wine we’re trying is the vino nobile de monto pucciano reserva it’s a 2013. the reserva is aged a little bit more before it’s released that’s my understanding and what you’re going to notice with this wine right up front is it’s got some brown around the edges it got that darker fruit the body is fuller it has got a lot of flavor [Music] this wine is by far the best of the three like folks someday if you get to go to montepulciano i really hope that you get to do that uh whether just for a day trip or if you’ll stay for a few days the town’s a great place to visit a lot of nice restaurants as well and a lot of great shopping but the wine is wonderful and the people are wonderful la [Music] foreign [Music]
