We review a Pinot Grigio, which is produced in Sicily, the Organic Alluria Pinot Grigio.
Normally Pinot Grigio is produced in the North of Italy and so we were both looking forward to finding out what difference the Sicilian Terroir would make to the taste of this wine.
At £7.49 this wine is competitively priced and so even more interesting to John L
The colour is very appealing, not too pale nor too dark.
On the nose it smells excellent, honeydew melons and peaches come to greet you.
Taste-wise, the taste is just so pleasant!
The balance is excellent, all the fruits on the nose come through on the state with maybe the addition of a pear.
It is very refreshing with a nicely balanced slightly acidic finish.

hi welcome back to Wine Mastery we’re here to tell you about a Peno ggio not from the north of Italy but from Sicily mhm we’re going to taste it now so this one is called allur it is $7.49 which is a brilliant I I I knew that would please you I knew you’re really excited to try this cuz it’s 49 less than halfway to8 I just saw it’s the ribbon of the hands that really made that come on man it is say some Sly it’s and it’s here’s a bottle have a look at the bottle just so you can recognize it um if you see it online um now it’s called Aura I think um and and it’s organic now I actually was talking to a lady from a university had University and she only drinks organic wine yeah I mean it’s becom more popular definitely in my shop as well a lot of people um well I don’t I don’t know if it is true or not they think they get less of a hangover if they drink organic wines oh really yeah which I suppose is going to be true isn’t it to a certain extent because it doesn’t have the chemicals in there so I’m just going to have to try drinking more organic wine AR we have to try I think it’s becoming more and more uh available as well is there on the market so it’s definitely a lot of them are coming through they’re not even actually you know we’re getting them all by default if you know what I mean we don’t we’re not actually going out and looking for organic wines but when the wines come in oh it’s organic you know yeah yeah you’re just why not realizing but it just getting in there yeah so is yeah okay well should we have a look at the color of this one and see what we think now P greo is for you John is always that you think that it used to be really nice in in days gone by that’s right yeah but it’s but it’s like sort of lost its way and it’s normally very sort of pale and and yeah more fashionable I think it’s become yeah that’s it but it will it will go with nearly everything hence why people go for it because cuz you you can’t go wrong with it it’s neither here nor there um um but yeah but let’s have a look at this one let’s have a look at this one I mean you can already see it’s a little got a little color about it it has actually isn’t it yeah and I understand that normally uh peanut Gia is normally sort of traditionally has been from Northern Italy yeah whereas this one’s from Sicily so obviously it’s going to have different climatic conditions so maybe it’s going to change the taste Yeah well yeah we show I’m like I’m actually liking the color of that John but it’s not quite you know it’s not too pale not too dark do you know it looks it look it’s not lemon is it’s not yellow it’s I’m just trying to think what it’s it’s a it’s a light it’s like golden color to it’s not quite got to the yellow yet has it no which is fine all right so hav got the old nose Okay that smells nice it does smell nice I’m getting melons yeah yeah very very peachy and Lush yeah peachy as well yeah yeah it’s take a um a honey Jew lemon you know it’s got that it almost smells like it’s going to be sweet yeah yeah you can always like peaches you can always imagine the the smell when you’re cutting peaches and and the juiciness juiciness yeah that’s that’s really good it is very nice yeah 749 that’s yeah cuz again some peanut GRE you you would smell them and not get a lot you struggle yeah you have to work for it but that that’s coming out nicely that’s coming to meet you which is a always a good sign what a good sign well so I go see what on the palette so that’s the test that’s is the main thing when I say acid I don’t mean I didn’t think you did John it’s not that kind of Channel no all right okay that’s just so pleasant that is it’s not like um because I mean what I’m trying to say it would not be it’d be too strong otherwise it’s not like to hit you a that’s really strong but it’s just lovely and pleasant it’s a lovely taste it’s not sort of battering your pets in any way it’s very smooth it’s just a very refreshing and the acidity is there just to make your mouth feel nice and fresh afterwards that’s that’s a really nice drink actually John I you know I’m T and everything we said on the nose has come through um like like you said they said it is nice not too overpowering it almost comes across a touch of a touch of sweetness but I think that’s coming from the the Honey Honey Melon thing I think that’s coming through there that’s that’s why I’m getting that and just just that I think one extra element I think that is is a little bit of peir it’s a peir just going just talking that is there as all but you know really after taste yeah the final get a bit of fruit in there for me you know those really soft ones that that you dribble or that that kind of I’m not sure if I’m tasting that just because you do you know what I mean when someone says it to you you think am I yeah you know is my mind imagining that or I I think is there the skin particular that can smell smell taste on from from the PA one of those green juicy ones yeah yes yeah so that yeah I mean there’s not a lot of length there but again 7.9 that is um and and I guess you know in terms of you know pagio there’s not many people would think well I don’t think I’m going to get pinio and I’m going to dissect it and I’m going to sit with it you know uh and think about the taste it’s more much more a sort of like a social drink where everyone’s you know you talking to people maybe maybe yes that that would be something i’ describe as very pleasant uh do you know it’s it’s it’s not out there wild but as you say it’s it almost HS back to the p g old where it is a little bit more fruity a little bit more body about it but still not massive but that that’s fine that’s that’s a nice style and and you know I’m really enjoying that really enjoying that I’m really enjoying it I yeah I don’t I mean you it’s one of the things one of the wines that I’d be quite happy in you know at a party or or just chatting with friends and not necessarily needing anything to to eat with it no no you’re right and but it doesn’t take much concentration either no this is a lovely there’s enough there if you do want to concentrate on it to that’s I can taste this and that but it’s just nice and and it’s nice and relaxed isn’t it yeah it can fly under the radar as well can it and it can be appreciated without being dissected and when it goes into your mouth it’s just the image I had then was when it goes into your mouth it’s like like you know you sort of get and you’re just flopping on your CTI and it’s like you know just relaxing and it’s like that’s what the wine does on your tongue it just flops back and it’s just there you go bit of that some as that nice yeah I can get that I love it smell again and and quite often when I’m drinking uh wine after I started drinking wine I can’t very often can’t smell the nose again but that is still very prevalent oh he’s doing his skin you just reminded me they probably think is snuff or worse I’m saying now was it now that is very nice what should we move on to pairing do you want me to go first with food or do you want to have oh yeah let you go f food cuz I’m not I’ve just been enjoying the wine I’ve not not thinking about well actually I I mean obviously this this I think is as I said perfectly satisfactory to drink this on its own you don’t need to have food with it if I was going to have food with or if I was to PR it with food then i’ i’ I’d say I would definitely say fish uh but I’m thinking more sort of um like prawns and or shrimps uh rather than sort of a butter skate or something like that or a cing salt I think something you know just like shelled fish go go well with this um but you it’s got enough acidity that if you were having maybe um a pizza not I I mean a very meaty pizza but sort of light Pizza uh with some Basel on or something it’s probably got just enough um acidity to cope with that but but not a strong tasting pizza that’s that that’s that evening kind of you know nice warm evening those lovely Stone baked pizza a little bit of that and there’s there’s no attention on either the food or the wine per se it’s more like the conversations going around but that’s yeah get yeah I get that um cheese wise I’m going to go for probably something it have to be delicate and um used milk I’d say with it so I’m going to lean for something like oo oo ratte I know it’s it’s not quite the tast made in The Basque region but I think that that would suit that or even um we got we’ve got I said new something called Wigmore which is that’s um an English Breeze style I reckon that again it’s very delicate creamy light and almost a touch sweet I think would um go together one you know I was thinking of the as well then I I think you know that the cheese that’s in the little dumpling you know the little round uh Italian cheese oh barata barata yeah that with a salad uh oh yeah that that would the bar yeah cuz that’s that’s got that youth and the freshness as well is yeah yeah that would definitely yeah sorry to impinge on your cheese I than you Pard once again we’re going to leave that one right there before to excited want to score then score it is okay okay yes of course all right um little test here score nice the price is definitely a massive um influence on this flavors good so it’s got to be uh generous for me that’s that uh there you go I’m going to go 88 ooh 82 okay2 I the the price pushed it for me I I was thinking you know and knew John why wouldn’t it you know it’s it’s the not 749 cracking price cracking price I mean I I would you know would not hesitate in getting another one of those uh bottles and you know it’s so flexible in terms of when you could when you could have you know surprise visit from friends you could knock out the bottle then say you’re having a a meal or sort of like a takeaway coming it’s just so versatile um I just give it the marks for that I think it’s it it’s well worth it well worth the money I think it definitely suit a lot of Petes for that as well yeah absolutely AB absolutely okay guys well uh if you get to try this let us know what you think and if you get to try it
