Hi everyone! We’re preparing dinner… Why do I even start
laughing when I make videos with you even before we start? We are preparing dinner. We’re, no,
I’m helping too. You see I’m in the kitchen, so I’m part of the preparation.
This morning we went to the market. The town market is held here every week and
there are many stalls at the market. There is the fruit and vegetable stall, the fish stall,
there is the clothing stall. There really is everything and more and
what did we buy this morning? Squid tufts and half an octopus. Half because
the whole costs too much. It cost 45 euros per kilo, so 20 euros for octopus and tufts of squid.
Here they are, delicious, fresh. And now we’ll show you how
we cook them. In the meantime I have already put the water to boil, because I will make rice,
this rice here, black rice. So I put the pot on to boil with the lid on,
so it boils more easily and saves energy. Rinse the tufts
very well under running water . So, rinse well under running water so that they lose all their
water and then you have to dry them perfectly, so I had this wonderful idea of
putting them in the salad spinner. Here it is. Look at how much liquid they
still leak. We let them go one more time and then we dry them with Scottex, because
we have to dry them perfectly. In Italian, as well as in English, there are words,
names of things, which are not their real name, but they are called that because
there is a very famous brand and this is an example. Absorbent paper which we Italians call
Scottex, because there is this brand called Scottex which is very famous and sells
absorbent paper, so it is directly called Scottex. Since they haven’t… they haven’t dried,
obviously, they’ve just lost their liquid, you have to dry them perfectly, it’s very
important, so let’s do this… Meow! Even the cat can smell it. Someone
is hungry. That other desperate man gave up directly, it’s already too hot for them.
Some bubbles are starting to rise here, so I would start putting some salt in there. We have
this beautiful pink Himalayan salt or something, so I’ll take a little bit of that.
A little more I would say and I’ll leave it in here. 200° so degrees 200 ok. Let’s get going,
let’s go. Perfect, the oven is turned on at 200° and we let it heat up. In the meantime we put
the olive oil in there, a little salt, not much because they are already a little salty,
it’s better to taste them later when they are cooked. A little salt, then the lemon
and parsley should go. So, he cuts the lemon with the knife and then squeezes it on, just a few
drops which we don’t like. At will. So, now we take a baking tray and
put some baking paper on it, so that the fish doesn’t stick everywhere.
The water is boiling, so it’s time to pour the rice in here,
so very simply. Done. So now you cut the tomatoes. Exactly,
because we make half of them with tomatoes and half without tomatoes. Instead…
Because Elena always has problems and Elena can’t eat tomatoes anymore.
So, we would like Taggiasca olives, but we don’t have them, so we use
green olives, these normal olives. Ok then let’s pour these magnificent tufts
into the pot, this half… That half is for my dad,
so we’ll put him what needs to be put. Tomatoes, because tomatoes go. In theory,
breadcrumbs should also be included. Well I’ll put it on top of him. Yes we’ll put it later. Ok,
let’s put in quite a few. Also because they are good. Then he puts some capers. Which are these,
they are Sicilian fruits. They certainly know them, capers. Very fragrant,
I wash them because… I don’t put too many and I wash them because there is salt. Oh well, even if there is
salt in it, what’s the harm? Obviously only in my dad’s half, because I don’t like them.
Ok then let’s take the olives. Look at those olives, magnificent. I want these eh. I want olives
. Magnificent. Look at the marvel of olives. Ok so and also to
Elena. How sad that of Elena. Look at it… it’s beautiful, colourful, fragrant. His
look how sad. Watch. Then we take the breadcrumbs which we will not put on Elena’s plate, but which
we are going to put on dad’s plate, because it will form a crunchy crust. Look how
wonderful. Look at the difference. How sad that of Elena. Who wants to eat this?
We have already turned the oven on at 200° and we need to let them go for 25-30 minutes. Now
we put it in the oven and in 25-30 minutes we’ll be licking our chops. Less than Elena, because Elena licks
half her chops. No, look how beautiful. We lick our chops, she licks half her chops. That bad.
Then let’s get this hot issue out of the way. Tac. Let’s push back inside what’s hot. Perfect. Ready.
So 25 minutes. 25-30 minutes. Yes 25, because the tufts there cook very quickly. Perfect.
In the meantime, shall we give the rice a whirl? Sure, did you add salt? Yes I already added salt. So
let’s give it a whirl, this… it takes a long time for this rice, so we leave it up there.
In the meantime, your father has also arrived and greets you. Who is it I greet? Say hello to everyone
watching this video. Oh okay ok. HI! Where have you been? I went to my
Spanish class. He’s learning Spanish because this… last summer he was in Costa Rica
and now he wants to learn Spanish so he can talk to everyone. Since we are going on
holiday to Egypt this year, Spanish is needed because in Egypt they speak Spanish like eating bread
. What did you learn today? Today we had a lesson on definite and
indefinite articles, etc., etc. Anyway, yes, a lesson in using articles. Fantastic.
Now dad will set the table. Then he will prepare the table with the tablecloth, plates,
glasses, cutlery and everything. And let’s eat outside because look how wonderful, the weather is fantastic,
there’s a wonderful view and we’ll eat outside. So, the rice is ready, so now
you need to drain it. So we have a strainer here, a colander and let’s drain the rice.
Here it is. It’s not very appetizing to see this black liquid, but the rice is very
good and we add a little oil to keep it from sticking. This one can
also be eaten in the following days, it is a rice that is very good for you, it doesn’t really look
appetizing, but it is very good, it tastes good. So, we think everything is ready,
so let’s do the taste test. Hot? Not so much. Is it really good? Then nice and crunchy,
eh? They are very crunchy, yes. I think they are ready. Me too, because I like them
a little crunchy. Let’s get them out. The happy part and the sad part.
Rice. And that’s all there is to it. Even in the sad part we put a little parsley,
which is the last touch. A bit of colour, as parsley contains a lot of vitamin C and
is therefore very good. Here you go and everything is ready. And now we sit down to eat. Enjoy your meal!
