We are Tom and Dom and we experienced our first cruise on the MSC Virtuosa during her UK staycation cruises in 2021. We are relatively new to cruising, however we can now say we are officially hooked.

Our mission is provide a fair and balanced review of our travels. We look at the types of food that is available onboard, from main dining rooms, room service, buffets and pool side snacks. We include menus for each of cruises so that we can share the selection of drinks and meals that are available. Entertainment onboard a cruise ship is important to us and we enjoy theatre production shows, live music, quizzes and game shows. We love to explore different ports and destinations and enjoy sharing tips and tricks so that you can make the most of each port. We often explore ports independently but also book excursions that are interesting to us.

welcome on Board Costa diadema and
Welcome to our AF balcony cabin
9281 let’s go
in the first thing you see when you
enter the cabin is the safety
information here you’ll find out where
your mustard station is located also
there’s far more information about
safety here location next to the door is
some information about your room Steward
also there’s a slot for your ke card and
the light switch there’s a small amount
of space here but you wouldn’t be able
to put anything here cuz the door opens
into it as you move through the cabin
there’s a really narrow small Corridor
just here with your wardrobes located on
the left located in the wardrobes are
some hangers but not many and your life
jackets in the center wardrobe in our
cabin we do have two really plush robes
plus two pairs of slippers in the
wardrobe at the end you will find your
safe which you would fit an iPad in but
you’d struggle to get a laptop in and
also two towels and some laundry
information on the back of the door
there is a really large mirror ful
length mirror that you can use on the
right here then right at the top is the
air conditioning panel and just below
that is the light switches through this
door located on your right is the
bathroom the first thing you’ll notice
when you walk into the bathroom is the
color yes the sink’s pink and the floor
is brown apart from the color there is a
huge mirror across the whole of the
bathroom with plenty of glass shelving
units two glasses and a soap extra
toiletries are very limited in here so
there are no face cloths there’s no hand
gel there’s no moisturizer nothing like
that so it is quite basic but there is
tissues facial tissues located
underneath the sink plus a hand toil
here also above the sink there is a
shaving mirror and a shaving socket
located below the sink there are two
different bins and also some more
storage space behind me there are three
tail rails two for the main tows and one
for the hand tows and then moving on to
this side of the bathroom you will find
your toilet with a very small button for
the cruise ship to flush then we move
into the main shower yes the shower is
also got a brown floor but it does look
quite clean with just one pump action
soap dispens
a pretty good shower head and a washing
line unfortunately yes there is that
dreaded shower
curtain on the door of the bathroom
there are two further hooks that are
useful to hang those bathroom
accessories on so as you come into the
main part of the living room you’ll see
this absolutely huge sofa next to it
you’ll find a table and a small lamp
just above located above the sofa is two
pictures underneath the sofa you will
find two drawers which means there’s
extra storage space located on the wall
next to the sofa area there are two
hooks which are really useful to hang
any of your belongings on around the
cabin there are lots of lighting you can
see along the ceiling on the walls which
makes this cabin really really bright
opposite the sulfa area you’ll find this
absolutely huge mirror split into two
with plenty of lighting on the vanity
unit itself first thing you come across
is the telephone a do not disturb sign
and some more safety information then
there is a plug one European 1 us and
some snacks and drinks the drink itself
here has a price of
€350 if there’s any snacks or drinks
they are chargeable finally at the end
of the vanity unit you’ll find the TV
with a small remote control underneath
the vanity unit area the first drawer
you will find is a hair dryer then the
three further drawers underneath then
moving on there is a small drawer with a
stool underneath and a waste paper bin
and then finally there’s a cupboard
which contains your mini fridge already
in our mini fridge there is a selection
of drinks now if you have the my drinks
plus package those drinks would be
included and then finally at the end
there is a small cupboard with two doors
with a small amount of storage so all in
all putting together with a wardrobe and
the drawers underneath the vanity unit
there is lots of space in the this cabin
as we move across into the bed area
there is actually a really good size
queen bed also on our bed because it is
embarcation day is lots of information
there is your daily program your
breakfast order and a welcome kit also
there’s information about the sea club
and the Internet packages to the right
side of the bed you’ll find a bedside
lamp also something that we’ve never
seen before is four USB sockets are
located here absolutely amazing four
underneath you’ll find a small cupboard
and in this side of the bed there is
also a Bible on this side of the bed
there is also another bedside table once
again with a lamp and a cupboard
underneath unlike the other side of the
bed there is no USBs this side so four
that side none on this side right in the
middle of the bed there is a light
switch okay so moving on to the window
and the door so unlike any balcony cabin
we have ever had there is no sliding
double door there is a separate window
and a door that you push
open as we move outside you can see the
balcony is of a good size although set
at an angle there is an overhang just
above so there is a slightly shaded area
at the back of the balcony but provided
for you there are two chairs and a small
table as this is an after balcony it
gives some spectacular views over the
back of the ship including those wake
views dock behind us here you can see
the msse world Europa and it is
absolutely massive
massive well we have spent a week in
this cabin now and we have to say our
review of the cabin is a good one
overall it’s been incredibly comfortable
we haven’t had any major issues or
problems and we’ve thoroughly enjoyed
our stay so the balcony itself is a
really good size balcony yes it is
sheltered by that little overhang above
us but for us we haven’t had any time to
do any sunbathing so that hasn’t really
been a problem but it has has been quite
nice to just pop out now and again and
get some fresh air the size of the room
is also another big plus there’s plenty
of room to move around either side of
the bed and then the main seating area
with a sofa has been really good the
bathroom has been pretty good itself
although there’s a couple of little
things I do prefer a hand soap that is
in a pump rather than just a bar of soap
but that’s really Min and of course
there is a Sher curtain it does tend to
make the bathroom floor get wet now
again but these are really minor things
in terms of the size of the shower it is
a really good size shower with plenty of
space to move around the color scheme
and Decor we were a little bit shocked
and concerned when we first went in
considering the sink is pink and the
floor is brown you kind of get used to
it it’s been okay hasn’t it it hasn’t
affected us at all what we will say is
the room is really bright there’s plenty
of Lights in this room it has been great
to spend a week in here also so the way
in which the access to the balcony is
positioned you’ve got a fullsize window
which does give you some great SE views
when you’re sailing from the comfort of
your own bed one nigle that we do have
is that right above us is the pool area
and you can now and again hear some
noise from that but it has an effect
just during the night it is just during
the day when you can hear perhaps some
people running about or moving Sun beds
overall the cabin’s been fantastic
suited us perfectly there’s plenty of
storage space we could have done with a
few more hangers but we did manage
there’s even storage space located
underneath the sofa so in terms of
finding somewhere to put all of our
belongings has been relatively easy we
would be happy to stay in an AF balcony
again although a balconies are just not
my favorite although we really do like a
wake view I do get a bit of fomo I feel
like I am missing it because I’m not
seeing things until after we’ve passed
them so I know some people love n
balcony but I feel like I’ve seen things
after everybody else so I think I do
prefer either the side of the ship or
the front of the ship thanks for

  1. At least with an aft balcony you'll see things eventually. With port or starboard it's 50/50 you see whatever it is at all.

  3. My hubby and I love Aft Cabin’s.. Each time we’ve been lucky enough to nab one, we sit out every night and watch the wake of the motors, with a glass of bubbly … so relaxing.

  4. At one some points in this room I thought it was a Tom & Dom cruising in the 70’s series with that decor 🤣

Lots of pluses though, love the 4 usb’s and idea of window.

Really well presented thanks for sharing.
