these are my favorite red bordeaux wines
from the 2021 on premiere tasting 2021
was not a great vintage in bordeaux i
was here during the harvest last year
and it was definitely wet and humid
however i thought some of the wines out
of the pasechal onion were beautiful a
little bit lower in alcohol but they’re
going to be easy to drink and they’re
going to be approachable on the younger
side some traditional appellations like
margot pujack santa steph
i wasn’t as impressed but there are some
good wines to be had
saint julian also did pretty well but i
always think it’s a pretty balanced
appellation probably the best
appalachian 2021 for my tastes were the
right bank in bordeaux
namely scent a million grand crew these
are merlot based wines they’re a little
bit softer more approachable and ready
to drink out of the gate do you buy
bordeaux on premiere are any of the
recent vintages memorable in your mind

2005, 09, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 18, 19, 20. Not bought any 21 en primeur – won't live long enough (I am 67). 09, 11, 12, and 14 are drinking beautifully now.
2021 seems to be a mixed bag and you'll have two polarizing views on how it fared but we've been spoiled by a great run from 2015-2020 with an ever so slight dip in 2017. If reports of it being similar to 2014 is true, there can be some great value had although I personally haven't bought any EP for the first time in six years.
Currently waiting for more reviews to come out. Some on my list:
Domaine de chevalier
Les Carmes Haut-Brion
Laroque
Tertre Roteboeuf
why drink it so early?
