Cannonau is the most widespread black grape variety in Sardinia.
The DOC Cannonau di Sardegna wine, red or rosรฉ, is mainly produced from Cannonau grapes, obtained for 99% of Cannonau grapes and the remaining maximum 1% from locally produced grapes. The minimum compulsory aging of this wine is one year, of which, at least 6 months, spent in oak or chestnut barrels.
