Exciting parts of the farmhouse renovation are happening in Italy. I try a new way to manage travel time between the two countries with a flight through Ancona in Le Marche turns out to be a great success. It feels like the grand plan for a life in the sunshine is coming together. The Italian house project is going well and I feel positive even though there is a huge amount of work still to do.
As the renovations on the small house in Le Marche, Italy, continue I am very pleased to find that there were no cracks or issues with the wall and roof following me fitting the new beam. I remove the remains part of the retaining wall to get a first feel for how large the new kitchen and dining are will be. The living space will be amazing! Cosy and relaxing with enough space to make it a very comfortable house and home through both summer and winter.
Living and travelling between two countries can take its toll and so finding an affordable way that suits the lifestyle and balance that is needed for good health is important. As I continue to try new routes and new methods, I try connecting flights which could make a huge and positive difference for me and how I manage the time between Italy and my home country.
This episode shows the relaxing side of the simple lifestyle that I am looking for as things all come together and go as planned.

WHO AM I?
If you are new here, hello and welcome👋 My name is Richard.
I bought a small house in the countryside of Le Marche region in Italy. The house needs to be fully renovated and restored and I am planning on doing all the work myself. This channel will show your the real side to buying a house abroad before you retire and how I fit in the lifestyle and all the adventure that Italy has to offer while I work full time and live in England for most of the year. This is a long plan to build the life I want, in Italy, in the sunshine, ready for when I retire. I am 49 years old and have two teenagers to support.
I am a normal person that is new to YouTube and have never taken on a project as big and as complex as this before. Step by step I feel confident that I can manage life between two countries, do the renovations and build the life and dream house in Italy.

Really enjoying watching your progress
All the best
I am just passing by and now I am going to watch your progress. Lots of work to do but will be worth it.
Greetings from Australia 🌞
Hello Richard congratulations on the acquisition and renovation of your Italian house.
Italy has introduced a new visa programme specifically for digital nomads, enabling professionals to work remotely while exploring the country. Just FYI, not sure if it suits you.
All the best
Just love how you are coming into your own …not an easy thing to open yourself up to potential negativity . Guessing part of the bonus of flying is also gaining more time in Itely home rather than using up eu days travelling tho youve probably mentioned all this and Ive missed it lol. Love the ever increasing video skills 😂 well done glad to see you happy
That approach into Ancona always feels so good! In its quirky little way, the Ancona airport is such an easy airport to use.
when you put that patch cement in around the hinge for your door the existing concrete should have been wet. The dry material will suck the water out of the new material and leave about an 1/8" of it dry and crumbly. it won't bond properly. If you have trouble in future that will be why. But you may get away with it. you may have wet it and i just couldn't see that. Tip of the day. Carry on.
Morning Richard
People around the world are just loving your channel, and cheering you on! Some are even offering to drop by and help, and that speaks volumes. Be right proud of that.
The Man VS Beam episode was like watching a boxing match. You went 6 rounds before your defeat of the beam. Getting ready for another hoist appeared as if you were entering the ring for another round , would have been a fun touch to have a bell ring like at a match. At one time you looked punched drunk and couldn't get a leg up ( hope that doesn't come out the wrong way to a Brit). Thought you would have done the Rocky Dance of Victory but you were too nackerd (? spelling?) spent ( Canadian expression).
Not only do you work incredibly hard whilst there, but the time and dosh spent travelling, you certainly have determination down pat.
That may not be affordable to others but this your video – your experience.
You have graciously shared your different options on that end as well.
There was program years back about two brothers that crossed the channel with their boat and travel the rivers in Europe. Once they entered Germany, the game changed – they called it the land of the super efficient.
Lufthansa had you convinced of that.
Just so much great info shared in this video. You do aim to please.
As for the house, I wonder how old is it?
It is becoming alive, becoming a home once again.
Yes, opening up the wall was such a game changer visually and that also allows for heat from the fireplace to warm up more space.
One could hear the joy in your voice, when your hand spanned the future placement of the kitchen and then with the look of new opened up space. You were beaming with pride and joy.
That you decided to tap the walls reminded me of a line in a song, "when she is weary, try a little tenderness".
Still a ways to go, so pace yourself like in a good bike race. Remember your mask.
Love of the land is something many city dwellers don't understand. This is growing on you more with each visit, having field envy made me laugh, but those distant fields showed that farmer's connection to the land, respect for it, and his pride. Wanting your field to look nice and pretty was priceless. That would be something only the city mouse would have said to the country mouse.
It is not only the warmth of the sun and blue skies that has lured you in, but the land has touched you a way others just can't comprehend. This is a milestone in your life, relish every moment of the challenge and that this old house and three acres will change you. Manchester could be a distant memory sooner than you think.
Life is short and life is only now.
Once all is done it will be like the end of a really good book. Couldn't put it down, and a bit sad that it is finished. But you will look around and be so much richer for what you have achieved. Bravo.
Sorry, another long comment from me. Just me.
It's looking good! 👍🍺
Really enjoying (and fair to say pretty jealous) following your journey!
When you say about the stress just disappears when you arrive in Italy and at your place, it’s like the same happens to me,EarPods go in and I’m teleported just for while I’m knocking walls down digging trenches.
Can't wait to see it all finished, all your hard work finished 😊
It's incredible to find a channel like yours, and not really have a lot in common with you or what you do, except maybe the dream of what you are doing. And then getting so hooked on the progress and how you make the videos that I find myself checking Youtube more often than I used to. Hats off to you, my friend! You are doing an excellent job and you have just the right attitude towards it. 👌👌
Looking good and you're only at the start of it all really. You've landed yourself a cracker of a place no doubt. I can't remember if you've mentioned this in an earlier episode or not. But are you doing the 90 days in 180?
Looking forward to your next update. 👍🏼
That is going to look really nice place when dine open kitchen lots of work to open up the wall there
It’s looking great! So nice to see from one room into the other:). Keep up the hard work!
Tidy
Great progress!
LOVE THIS CONTENT – NOT SURE WHY
unfortunately in the countryside dogs are not treated well at all, not in all of them, but in many. this thing is suffered by many people like me and many others. We try to make things change, but it's always difficult. if you see mistreatment or abandoned or suffering dogs, call the local OIPA delegate, you can usually find it on Google or go to the municipal shelter, they can help.
Absolutely love watching your videos. So compelling. I don't know why. What you are doing is real. You are a great role-model for your children
and others. All the best from Toronto, Canada.
Thanks Richard. I appreciate your hard work in putting these videos out. You've definitely given me something new to think about in living in Italy.
