The US and British leadership in the Second World War followed the so called “Europe First” or sometimes called “Germany First” strategy, meaning that there was a focus on defeating Germany first and after that focus against the Japanese in the Pacific. Many of the US military leaders were not particularly happy about this arrangement between Roosevelt and Churchill.
Additionally, if we look closer, in practice it was not “Germany First” but “Italy first”.
