Hey guys, with New Years coming up, I wanted to share this recipe with you for New Years Soup. The history, from what I’d researched online is that there is a tradition in the South of eating collard greens and black eyed peas on New Years as a way to bring good luck and fortune in the following year. This is said to be related to history during slavery in America, where the end of the year was a slower time and the slaves were able to gather as a family (some working on different plantations) and a meal would be made with black eyed peas and collard greens (which represented coins and dollars) to bring good luck and fortune to those in the following year.
