ABOUT ME:
Hi, my name is Bill! Together with my family we have lived in 5 countries around the world, and spend our life travelling, in both a professional and recreational capacity. The aim of this channel is to give an honest, practical viewpoint, showing exactly what we found, and what tips we may be able to offer. We do not sell vacations, and the objective is to give a fully independent, and real picture. We hope you enjoy the reviews we post. Please do feel free to comment and share. Thanks!

This episode we bring you the very latest  information on the Cunard Queen Anne! There’s been a lot happening since our last video we’ll discuss the recently completed Sea Trials and how   those went, and whether the ship will indeed be launched on schedule. All coming up on the Ritzy  Travel Guide

Welcome back to the channel my name  is Bill and it’s great to have you with us.    Now this video is an update to the two earlier videos  we put out all about the Cunard Queen Anne. If you

Haven’t seen those I’ll give you the links at the  end of this. In the intervening time there’s been   a buzz of activity and a huge amount going on, so  let’s bring you right up to date, and we’re going

To cover five topics. First off, number one: and last  month were the all important Sea Trials, and here   you can see footage of that. 16 days the Queen Anne  was put through her paces. Early morning, gliding   through the waters, it’s fascinating to see those  early first glimpses of the ship, and Cunard had

Been trying to keep the ship under wraps so it’s  really interesting to finally see actual detailed   moving images. The purpose of sea trials is to see  how the ship handles under various conditions, you   can’t see it here but the fit out is furiously  going on board at the same time, the Carpenters

Electricians, interior designers, are all working  around the clock to get it finished. There is still   a lot to do, and shortly after the sea trials  the ship went back into dry dock at Palermo to   continue painting the hull and get the ship ready  for delivery. Which brings us on to topic number 2

Possibly the most hotly contested and debated  topic of all of them: will the ship be delivered   on time and will the Maiden go ahead as planned?  And it’s been closely watched, due to the recent   fiasco with the Sun Princess, which had two missed  Maiden voyages recently; you may have seen that

And passengers were understandably very annoyed  about it. But that’s why people have been watching   very closely. Now the latest word is that the  Queen Anne is scheduled to be completed by April   the 27th, and why do we say that? Because there’s  a flotilla planned, and announced, by Cunard for

Exactly that day. It’s all set to kick off at 9:30 am and there are local boat owners encouraged   to come and visit, and sail by, and join in the  party atmosphere. There’s also talk of ceremonial   tugboats and Cunard likes this sort of activity, there  have been several similar instances in the past, so

Is it really going to happen on that last week of  April? Well let’s get a few pointers from what’s   been going on behind the scenes: and there have  been some leaks online, let’s take a look at some

Of those. This shot was posted by Paul Ludlow, the  Carnival UK President. It shows the Britannia Dining Room   It’s looking quite grey, isn’t it. Let me know  in the comments what you think. Also contractors   aboard have been leaking photos. Here the furniture  is getting set up and ready for the Britannia

Dining Room, and also some unspecified snaps of  the cabins and the fittings and the installations going in It’s all fascinating to see isn’t it. Is  it what you were expecting? We’ll return some more   behind the scenes photos in a moment, but first Cunard have been busy making some other announcements

Which gets us onto topic number three: on board  entertainment. Firstly in the Royal Court Theater   They’re going more professional and have linked  up with acclaimed theatrical producer David Pugh  to bring award winning productions to sea; and it’s  going to start with a Jane Austen classic called

Pride & Prejudice (sort of) which apparently is  multi-award-winning. (Music) “it is a truth universally   acknowledged that a single man in possession of  a good fortune must be in want of a wife!”

Now, also announcements for outside. Do you fancy yourself as  a Robin Hood? Well, they’ve teamed up with Archery GB   and claim that the ship will be the first in  the world to offer archery. She said this is the

First time that ‘Pointy’ archery has been available  on a cruise ship. Let’s hope the passengers can aim   properly and not shoot each other down, or take  aim at Sun Lounge Hogs who don’t vacate their   seats properly! If that all sounds too dangerous  Cunard have also said there will be a pickle

Ball court, that’s all the rage these days, it’s a  sort of mix between tennis and badminton and table tennis   Still more Revelations to come in this  video but if you’re enjoying it please do give

It a THUMBS UP, as it gives us plenty of cheer and  lets us know we’re on the right track and we’ll   try to release more of this type of material. Now  if you’re a Shopaholic and can’t keep away from

Cunard’s retail offerings, they’re promising what  they call an ‘Elevated Retail Experience.’ They say   the highlight will be the ‘Cabinet of Curiosities.’  Sounds like a vaudeville act! A dazzling ‘New Concept   showcasing Curated Treasures from a variety of  Luxury Brands.’ Now if that isn’t enough to knock

You down with excitement… they’re also titillating  you with the “Experience Lounge.’ A space they say   “…where retail intertwines with food and drink.”   I wonder what that means will there be canopies and   drinks served to you while you shop? Or perhaps  you’ll be served Roman Style with grapes as you

Recline on a chaise longue? And wait there’s more: they  say “to further enhance the guest experience Queen   Annne will boast a dedicated Shopping Host to  offer guests a rewarding retail experience    And no doubt the shopping hosts will be stuck to you  like glue! Now what if you fancy being pampered

In the spa? Cunard has announced a new partnership  with what they call the iconic lifestyle magazine   Harper’s Bazaar. Is that magazine iconic? Anyhow it  will deliver a range of Holistic Wellness Programs on board   “I’m so delighted to introduce the Harper’s  Bazaar UK Wellness at Sea Program, aboard of Cunard’s

Queen Anne. We’ve carefully created three luxurious spa  packages designed especially for you. Each program   features a bespoke blend of spa treatments, special  nutritionally balanced menus from The Pavilion   Wellness Cafe.” Are you interested? Right, onto the  next topic: the Official Naming Ceremony; and this

Has been announced for: June the 3rd. Now this is a  full month after the Maiden voyage. Queen Anne is   expected to arrive shortly after Sunrise that day  and then the festivities will begin. In fact Naming   Ceremonies have a long historical background and  over the years Cunard has been graced with the

British Royal Family for many of the proceedings.  Cunard ships in the past often attracted more than   a million Spectators to the banks of the Mersey, for  the various events. “I name the ship Queen Elizabeth 2.”  “I name this ship Queen Elizabeth.  May God bless her and all who sail in her.”

Incidentally, if you’re thinking about cruising on  any of the Cunard ships, and you’re not sure which   cabin might be right for you, we do have a video  giving you some pointers and ideas. This is the one

And you can find it in our Cunard Playlist  and I’ve linked it at the top here and in the   description down below. Alright, on to the fifth  topic, possibly the most hotly debated: will the

Maiden sailing go on time? Will it go as scheduled?  As we mentioned at the beginning of this, with the   recent shenanigans of the Sun Princess, and that  ship missing two Maiden voyages at extremely late   notice, there has been a whisper could the same  thing happen with the Queen Anne? Well, looking

At the evidence there is cause to be optimistic.  Firstly we can see from online postings that early   staff have arrived for pre-cruise briefings. We  can also take pointers from ‘ship shakedowns.’    You can see that Cunard have been running travel  agents campaigns. The reward Cunard is offering

For selling loads of tickets, is to get a free look  at the ship, and indeed have a free stay overnight.   Here is one of the winning agent tickets, dated  for April the 29th. Now these invites have only just

Gone out so that does suggest a certain level  of confidence from Cunard the maiden is going   to go ahead on schedule. Now I really do hope that  Maiden goes ahead as schedule because there will   be so many disappointed passengers if it doesn’t.  If you’re not on that Maiden there are still

Several cruises available for the balance of the  year on Queen Anne as you can see here. So plenty   of other chances for you to book should you wish.  Queen Anne then goes Global for 2025 and 2026 on

A series of World Voyages, and on those you could  be away for months. Would that grab you? And here   that World Cruise is. It’s 111 nights starting  January the 7th 2025, taking in a whole raft of   destinations such as Honolulu, Sydney Penang the  Panama Canal the Middle East, and the historic

Suez Canal. All of this assuming that tensions in that  region permit the sailing. There we go, here are the   current prices starting from $16,000 and change  for Interior, and then the various other cabin   choices right up to $52,000 for the Princess Grill.  You can’t take the Queen’s Grill because that’s gone!

Incidentally, just this week we have stepped  off one of the oldest cruise ships still at sea   that was with a different Cruise Line and a ship  that’s nearly 25 years old! And we’ll be putting   out a series of videos on that imminently, as we  want to see whether cruising on older ships still

Makes sense? Or whether they should be avoided like  the plague?! We also went to some fascinating Port   stops which we’d like to show you! So remember to  keep a lookout for that, SUBSCRIBE to the channel   and click on the Notification Bell, so you can get  alerted. Subscription to our channel is free and

Doesn’t cost you anything. So for the balance of  this year we have so many other cruises lined up   on a multitude of different cruise lines, and we’ll  bring you all of the action from those as they happen.

Including the new Queen Anne! So, Bon Voyage to all  of those of you who are going on the Maiden and   indeed the subsequent ones over the coming weeks  and months, it’s going to be an amazing adventure

Who knows we may even bump into each other on  board! Thank thank you so much for joining us here   on the Ritzy Travel Guide, it’s been an absolute  pleasure having you with us. While waiting for the

Queen Anne, please do take a look at some of our  videos here or indeed here… and we’ll see you in those!

  1. Oh Bill.. I hoped the horrible renderings were not the last word. But obviously they are. The ship is not even from outside beautiful, but the inside is so uninspired contemporary standard that I am shaking here… 😂 Not even the traditional shape of the Britannia-Restaurant is still there, nor is the dome/skylight above. The ZARA-Store "Grand Lobby" is like: 😳🥴…
Sorry, hoped to be positive in my review.
But your video is great as always! Next I will check out the Naples one, cos we go there with the Victoria in September. Have a nice easter holiday! 🙋‍♂️

  2. It's not for us because we're only interested in a Transatlantic Liner. We've 14 night double crossings booked for 2025 & 2026. But it's a cruise ship. As long as everything works and the food and entertainment are good, I'm not sure what difference the decor makes. Obviously when the Britannia Restaurant is full of chattering clients with lots of wait staff flitting about it will feel completely different from a photo/render of an empty shell. I don't get the hang-up with folk wanting art deco themes. When QM2 goes in for it's overhaul in 2026 they can give it a sci-fi theme if they want. As long as they leave the dance floor the same size as now and give us music to dance to we couldn't really care less.

  3. Thank you Bill, and Happy Easter! I am scheduled to sail Dec 15th on Queen Anne: Western EU cities (LeHavre, Bruges, Rotterdam and Hamburg). My friend from England has warned me and expressed concern for me being on North Sea in December 🫢 And now this concern has me considering changing to an Alaskan cruise on Cunard for this fall instead. The QA decor shown in your video is disappointing, as brochure showed rich navy and luxurious gold accents. I can't stand grey 😅 I need to give some thought to this before too long. Look forward to watching your Princess cruise videos. Cheers!

  4. I don't even go on cruises, but I love this channel. I find myself giggling throughout the whole video. Not so sure about the grey interior on this ship….a tad bit boring to me.

  5. I am boarding QV on the 28th April so hoping Queen Anne has arrived by then. If not I am in Liverpool on 3 June and then finally sailing on Queen Anne in October.

  6. Thanks William. The Mrs and I are booked on Queen Anne for Jan 9 Southampton to NY, our first ever cruise. We love your family videos. Good Stuff Sir 😀

  7. I’ll wait until I have sailed on her next year and I’ll make my judgement then. You really can’t go by artist images.

  8. Thanks for your timely sharing, William…and just subscribed! Btw, am I correct that Queen Anne will cover Hong Kong next year? I’d love to try with my parents 🙏🙏

  9. Not sure about the Britannia Restaurant, but we'll be in PG for the fjords in June so hopefully that's a bit more elegant (though of course the Britannia restaurant may look way better when it's finished)
