Italian food is phenomenal! Better than France. Saw a video once where this Italian girl explains the difference between food in Italy band the US. She summed it up by saying “We don’t eat sh*t.” Pretty accurate. Great video!

So to contrast dining in Europe vs. the US: I dined alone one evening in Paris in 2015. I had beef tartare w/ fries, plus a salad and 2 glasses of Burgundy – all for $22 E (approximately $25). That would NEVER happen in he US. In the US, the wine alone – 2 glasses – would be $25-30. Then you have to tip this person. That meal easily would've been $50 in the US. Anyone who vacations in the US vs. Europe is just a complete idiot. In the US, you'll get OK but not great food, you have to rent a car – for a week, that's easily $300. And you're not getting a nice hotel for under $300. 'But, but, I stayed at Embassy Suites for $175.' I said a nice hotel and no, I'm not talking about the Four Seasons, just the Hilton.
I do happen to think you're wrong about the US being more dangerous. The US has always been dangerous and always will be. It is off the charts expensive. My property taxes went up 50% from last year. My home insurance has gone from $1800/yr to $8,000/yr in 2 years.
