This is a half day cooking tour which first starts out at the Santa Maria Novella Train Station as the meeting spot.
From there you will walk with the tour guide all the way to the Mercato Centrale Firenze Market to pick out fresh ingredients for your dishes.
Our guide gave us some information on the history, culture, and the food. You will also get a chance for some food tastings to sample cheese and bread. Once we got all of our ingredients we were then transported on a bus to a farmhouse in Tuscany countryside. The bus ride was short, only about 15-30 minutes from Florence.
The farmhouse also uses some ingredients they grow there for the dishes.
When you first arrive in the driveway you walk an additional 5 minutes or so to reach the farmhouse. The outdoor terrace has a very scenic view of the Tuscan Hills.
There is only one bathroom here to share between males and females.
The first thing you do on arrival is wash your hands and start drinking wine.
Not really sure why we bothered washing our hands because everyone had their cellphones out most of the time taking photos and recording.
The chef was knowledgeable, told good stories, and of course gave us good tips on cooking.
We made an appetizer, main dish, and dessert. Overall it is very easy to follow for beginners or experienced cooks. The dishes you will be learning how to cook include Bruschetta, home-made pasta (spaghetti and ravioli), Tuscan roast pork and potatoes, and Tiramisu.
After cooking we all sat together to enjoy our meal in a covered outdoor covered viewing room of the Tuscan Hills. There was plenty of food and we were stuffed. It was also very delicious and one of our favorite meals we had in Italy.
