📖 Our Story:
We bought this stone house in Italy during the pandemic in 2020. The house was a ruin and we saved everything we could, unfortunately that meant only four stone and clay walls! The back wall, against the terrain, was close to collapse; the roof beams were eaten and basically reduced to dust; the inside separation walls were easily taken down and the whole project turned into a heavy renovation/rebuild.

Follow our journey as we turn this old stone house into a beautiful home 😊.

Workwear gifted by BLÅKLÄDER Italia: https://www.blaklader.it/it

Hello and welcome to a new video! This week, we’re getting back to work in the kitchen. As you saw in the last episode, the structure is completely assembled. It is now time to install our fronts and our worktop, which arrive us from CUBRO (commercial collaboration), who is the partner of this video!

And we start straight away by unloading the car. Today we brought home all the items we ordered from CUBRO. So we had already received everything a few months ago in the apartment where we live during the work. And so now the time has come to unpack everything

And follow the acclimatization process that is advised by CUBRO. It will be a new opportunity for us to discover a little bit about all our fronts and the colors, all the aesthetic choices that we have made

Since until now we had only opened two packages so as not to damage or expose the fronts to dust. So acclimatization is important since it will allow the wood to get used to the humidity of the room and the ambient temperature. Because if we start to put our panels without acclimatization on our

Kitchen structure, there would be a risk of deformation of the panel. So it is important to follow this step carefully. So, for the fronts, we went with the “linoleum” range and chose the “olive green” color. So in this range, linoleum, we find the thickness of plywood and a finishing thickness of linoleum.

So when we talk about linoleum, don’t confuse it with the plastic coating of the 80s – 90s. Here, we are talking about a natural material which is made from cork dust, coniferous oil and natural resin. In the linoleum range, there are eight different colors, including the one we chose: olive green.

In terms of finish, we have a material that is really very soft to the touch, velvety, with a matte finish, and at the same time, there is a light texture on the fronts, which creates some little plays of shadows and nuances which are really very pretty.

Then, for the handles, we chose the round finish, hollowed out in the thickness of the plywood which recalls the side of the fronts. Let’s talk about our design choices. So there, you have two drawer fronts and in fact these will be the majority of the fronts that we will find in our kitchen,

Since we chose to divide the height of our storage in half to always have these two drawers which will dress the whole kitchen. As for the assembling on the IKEA cabinets, it is very simple since all standard fronts are pre-drilled. So we already have all the locations to put our screws

And each piece is numbered according to its location in the kitchen. Come on, we’re going to start installing the first fronts right away. Well, first mistake.. I placed all the rails for the upper half drawers a notch too low, so we will have to remove them all to reassemble them higher.

Once all the drawer fronts are installed, we move on to the fridge and freezer doors, which are mounted on hinges on one side, and on a sliding system attached to the fridge on the other. And as for the drawers, these doors are pre-drilled.

Before installing the fridge permanently, we must take care of the space between the high cabinet and the wall. We are going to install a filler there: it is a piece of front, in the color we have chosen and which we will have to cut to the right dimensions.

For the cuts, we once again follow the instructions given by CUBRO. Before starting, we took care to change the blade of our saw for a precision blade, which is thinner and has more teeth than a standard blade. Cuts are then made on the back side of the piece

In order to obtain the cleanest cut possible. We then tackle the dishwasher’s, which will also be fitted with two drawer fronts in order to maintain symmetry along the entire length of the kitchen. Finally, a small piece fills the space between the top of the oven and the future kitchen top .

So all the CUBRO fronts are finally installed. I also adapted the fridge and freezer doors directly on their doors with the kit that came with the fridge. So, nothing very complicated there. The most complicated thing is putting the fridge in its cabinet, but then it goes smoothly.

So there are still quite a few small adjustments to make to have the same spacing between panels each time and to obtain something very regular. But before making all these small adjustments, we will wait for the plumbers to return.

The plumbers will install the dishwasher, which will be tuned to the water and drains, which will allow us to fix it permanently in its location. And they will also install all the equipment in the bathroom. So once again, we are really very, very happy with the result.

We are very happy with the material we chose and the color, and we hope you like it too! Many of you have already told us that you took a look at CUBRO’s website. We have once again put all the links in the description,

So do not hesitate to contact them if you have a kitchen renovation project, or if you are building a brand new kitchen, or if you have a bathroom furniture project or even a dressing project: CUBRO really offers plenty of solutions that you might like.

In terms of colors and materials, there is something for everyone. There are four main ranges of materials: we find the wood range, the lacquered range, the laminate range and finally the linoleum range. I remind you that our facades are part of this linoleum range, in olive green color.

To help you decide, you can also order a sample box where you will find absolutely all the finishes available in all ranges. This is what we did in the design phase, it allowed us to directly observe the materials and colors that we already had in the house, with the CUBRO finishes.

So here we are, the facades are installed and we move on to the next step: the work top! So here is our top. We chose a different material than for the fronts, so this time we are on the laminate range, in the “sand” color.

So we still see the 11-ply plywood which is varnished on the edge here and in front. The worktops are sold in two standard dimensions: in our case, we are on the 2m40 version and therefore we need two pieces to cover the entire kitchen top.

So to have the strongest possible assembly we will try to make a cut which will fall on a junction of boxes. So we’ll see what happens. I’ll bring the second piece. So here are the two pieces of worktop already positionned. So obviously, before making the cuts for the induction hob and the sink,

We will have to cut them to length and position them in their final position. So, there are some small adjustments to make which will surely be easily resolved with cutouts. So we have here, on the fridge side, a slight space.

There you go, so I don’t know if it’s worth it to make a cut along the length to be able to remove a little bit of material from this place and be able to push the top against the side of the fridge here.

Then, on the side of the niches, there will also be a cut to make since the wall of the niches is not perfectly perpendicular to the kitchen top. So we see that there is a slight shift if we put ourselves in the alignment. So first cut.

First mistake I turned the work surface over to cut from the bottom side and I forgot to change my angle. So fortunately we have some margin, and we’re going to do it again! The good thing is that the cut is perfect with the precision blade.

By turning the piece over and putting tape on both sides, it cuts really cleanly. Once the worktop is the right length, we can start making the cutouts for the sink and the induction hob. The cutout of the sink is the one that we fear the most because it is an

Under-top ceramic sink, which will therefore reveal the edge of the worktop. So no room for error! This time, the cutting is done with a jigsaw with a thin blade and the good side of the worktop upwards, which gives a perfect cut.

The edges are then lightly sanded with sandpaper, taking care not to scratch the finished surface. We then move on to the induction hob which will be an extractor hob so as not to have a hood above the cooking space: which explains why it is so thick. And There you go!

We’re going to stop there for this video which is already much longer than usual. There will still be a lot of little details to deal with, such as aligning the drawer doors, installing the under-top sink and fixing the worktop, installing the baseboards and a lot more!

We are still very satisfied with this week’s progress and we can’t wait to finally be able to cook here! Once again, we warmly thank CUBRO without whom all this would not have been possible! Thank you for following and see you soon!

  1. Kitchen looks brilliant well done the fridge freezers have to have an air flow or thy only last for about 2 years due to motor is running a lot longer ie heat rises leave a vent at top and bottom for air cooling flow

  3. Beautiful colour choice. It's like bringing the Italian countryside indoors.💚 I think the "handles" are my favorite part. The clean aesthetics go so well with the natural rural history of the house.

  4. Hello, you have chosen a perfect color, you are very lucky. In Turkey, we only have a kitchen built for the cost of your entire house. Also, I wonder why you use wood instead of marble on the kitchen countertop. You will not be able to put anything hot on it in the future. It will be deformed. If you leaned towards the kitchen sink, water would flow on it. Turkey.' love from 😊😊😊

  6. beautiful kitchen, the color though doesn’t agree with me. I associate school/hospital lockers with it. then again the idea to contrast the red floor with a green color is very nice! I would have chosen an other green and mixed neutral wood faces with some green details only, to avoid the mono block coloring.
but yeah that’s only taste, so it really doesn’t matter much. beautiful kitchen!!!! and congratulations to sooo much finished work! it’s almost ready!!!! 🎉
