Caliendo’s 2ft-Long Italian Cold Cut Combo Sub Sandwich Challenge Was Bigger Than Expected!!

American professional eater Randy Santel versus Caliendo’s “Bada Bing” 2ft-Long Italian Cold Cut Combo Sub Sandwich Challenge, hosted by Caliendo’s Restaurant and Bar in Winfield, Illinois which is a western suburb of Chicago!! I drove down from Milwaukee, Wisconsin and spent four days attempting 4 big and delicious Illinois restaurant food challenges around the western suburbs of the Chicagoland area. For final competitive eating challenge #4 of four, I headed back to Caliendo’s Restaurant and Bar in Winfield which is directly west of Chicago. I was there back in April 2022 for their 5lb “Wise Guy” Italian Calzone Challenge. They offer three different delicious eating challenges at Caliendo’s, and this time I was there to attempt Caliendo’s “Bada Bing” 2ft-Long Italian Cold Cut Trio Combo Submarine Sandwich Challenge which has only been defeated by a few people the past 16-17 years that the challenge has been available. The challenge used to involve an actual 2-foot-long loaf of bread, but now there are four separate 6″ long sandwiches. Each sandwich was made the same, loaded with three delicious Italian cold cut sliced deli meats: capicola, salami, and Mortadella luncheon meat. Each sandwich was also loaded with provolone cheese plus a trio of healthy vegetables: lettuce, white onions, and tomatoes. The sandwiches were topped with Caliendo’s homemade Italian salad dressing and I ordered some on the side too in case I wanted to dip a sandwich in it. 30 minute time limit. I was trying to win my $25 sandwich meal free plus another sweet t-shirt and spot on the Wall of Fame. Sandwich if I want to beat the record. I think we can do it, and wow these are fat! This is a cold sub sandwich and wow, that is a lot of meat on here, but I think we’re going to get it. The trick here is to not take too big of bites.

This house-made Italian dressing is available on their salads and stuff like that. Very good on this sandwich. I am not chewing enough. My body is going to struggle with digesting all this deli meat. Done with one fourth! These things are huge! I’m hoping that the bottom two are less meat than the top two. Well, I’ve answered my own question. Earlier, I was asking the staff which challenge is hardest, and after doing the calzone, I’m going to go with this “Bada Bing” Sandwich

Supposed to be, or what the weight is, but this sandwich, and all four sandwiches are not shy on deli meat. There’s so much meat. I don’t even want to know how much fat because all three of these are not lean meats, but it’s all very good so far. We’re going to get it.
