When it comes to gelato in Italy versus ice cream in America I think ice cream in America is better that might be controversial but over the last 3 weeks the boys and I have been on mission to find the best gelato in all of Italy and after riding

Doens of trains traveling to 20 cities and trying way more pistachio ice cream than I ever thought was possible I think we’ve done it but there’s still one problem we currently have a tie between our two highest rated shops so in this video we’ll go back to each conduct a

Taste test and hopefully Crown the true gelato champion of Italy and along the way I’m going to highlight some notable shops for example the worst shop we went to was Amo Gourmet in Venice it looked delicious cuz the gelato was piled up and all colorful but a total tour strap

I’m not kidding I say the worst gelato or ice cream I’ve ever tried well you have any remarks on just to describe how terrible it was it was just quite horrible it was like ah I’ve blocked it out but it was disgusting we ended up

Raing that shop a 1.5 out of 10 the lowest ranking in the history of this channel luckily the chop we’re about to try is a million times better so what time is the bus Willie 5 minutes 5 minutes 5 minutes got to catch the bus bye bus it’ll come around fortunately the

Bus did indeed come back around however as we got on I saw something online that made me just a tad bit worried there is a chance this place is closed but we stayed optimistic because we were literally here like a week ago so I sent

Them an email just to be sure and while we wait let’s talk about some of my favorite flavors the best flavor of the trip is a tie between the biscotti from Alberto and Turin that that biscotti flavor was oh just had tons of chunks in it haven’t found many gelato flavors

With like good chunks and so just the fact that there were just cookies all mashed up in it it was delicious and then the other flavor that was great was the salted caramel from the shop in bogna and that was that was early on in

The trip and so it’s kind of hard for me to remember everything about it but I just remember being super delicious and I think it was my favorite caramel if you have a chance to go to either those two shops for sure get those flavors that’s what I’ll say I still think the

Better shop is here in San Jingo or however you pronounce it I Italians correct me in the comments cuz I’m pretty sure I’m pronouncing all these Italian names wrong but of course with our luck right when we pulled up we got this email it says thank you very much

For writing unfortunately the gelateria is closed for a month we just got here I I don’t know we’re going to walk over there and see if it’s actually CL we were here a week ago when they’re open the tiebreaker might be a little easier than we thought

And as we walked up our worst fears became a reality yep I think it’s closed this shop is highly recognized as one of the best shal out shops in the world I think it’s very good I’m going to try and show some clips from when we

Actually came here like a week ago the raspberry the chocolate and the caramel were the three flavors that really stuck out to me those were absolutely delicious I highly recommend coming here I mean look look at the scenery do a little look at that just it’s beautiful

The scenery and The Vibes for sure the best of any gelato shop we tried on this trip so if you have the chance to come to San jamino or whatever it’s called for sure do it but as we are about to head out we couldn’t help but notice

This little shop next door should we just try that jll shop right there it literally says best ice cream in the world I don’t think I believe that but it’s on the off chance it is me I’ll just walk in and try something I mean they’re clearly still in business right

Next door to one of the best sh shops in the world so they’re doing something right so I walked in with little expectations but I got to say I was met with a pleasant surprise I tried a little sample in there I actually think this place is really good I can’t say

The quality was quite as high as the place next door but I will say this their caramel was amazing I just like this caramel flavor so much there actual like look at that that’s just like car like half of that just caramel right there up until now one of my biggest

Complaints with Italian gelato is the lack of mixins and their flavors so to see this not only tastes amazing but have actual caramel mixed in was honestly just special and even though their other flavors weren’t quite as good as the place next door they’re still open for a reason so I’ll give

Them a solid 8.5 out of 10 our time here in San Jingo or however you pronounce it is done and because we weren’t able to actually try the shop we’re going to leave it at a 9 out of 10 but this video isn’t over just yet because we still got a tiebreaker to

Settle so we SP the rest of day traveling and eventually found ourselves here smallest elevator I’ve ever seen in my entire life what after a good night’s sleep we kick things off the next day the boys and I made it to Rome and I’m about to take

Youall to what I believe to be one of the best gelato shops in all of Italy currently tied for first but can they up the ranking at the buzzer let’s find out however before we get there I want to talk about how he chose these J shops we

Took many suggestions from y’all but we also referenced this thing called the triple cone list basically it’s an exclusive list of the highest quality jela shops in Italy pretty safely those are the best shops there’s one or two that disappointed us but for the most

Part all of our best shops were on that list so I’ll link it in the description if youall want to check out the list and now the moment you’ve all been waiting for the other shop tied for first hor in Rome the number one shop on our list

Currently tied with the shop in San Domingo or however you pronounce it I still can’t pronounce it but uh they’re closed right now pan over there yep but we’re hoping they open they’re supposed to open in like 15 minutes um spoiler it did not open in 15 minutes

Imagine they don’t open the two shops we went to don’t open this whole video will be a bust yes are y all open today okay youall open at 12 they were not open at 12 not open at 1200 I don’t know what she’s talking about we have to bail at one to catch

Our flight this is not looking good honestly at this point I was just feeling so disappointed because it felt like every aspect of our video was just going completely wrong and after waiting outside for about an hour we were about to leave but then someone came to our

Rescue Against All Odds at the at the final hour torset has opened up we legit have like 15 minutes to try this and we have to catch a train to catch our flight so it’s come down to the wire but I just want to show you all some of my

Favorite flavors here and explain why I like it so much we we’ve tried a bunch of gelato around Italy and I think this is we think this is one of the best places oh thank you now unfortunately they didn’t want us to film too much in there but here’s what we ended up

Getting we got the Salted Caramel the strawberry and deep down in there we got the chocolate their dark chocolate is insanely good from what I remember but here all these flavors were very very solid and here’s the texture very good caramel not the best caramel that we tried but definitely top

Three top five I think it’s my favorite strawberry Sor Bay that we tried and the dark chocolate that’s the best dark chocolate of the trip now I will say even though I do love this gelato shop I think overall I was disappointed with the gelato in Italy simply because I don’t think the

Top shops here compare with the top shops in the US like I truly do think the American ice cream shop in this video is way way better however I will admit that Italy for sure has one thing on the US and that’s the chocolate and fruit flavors yeah when you try like the

Fruit flavors they’re just like super fresh and they don’t taste like fruit flavoring like how you have in America they taste like actual fruit like that tastes pretty much like strawberry so after 3 weeks of traveling on various trains staying in random hosts and visiting 20 plus cities this is our

Final list of every gelato shop we’ve tried here in Italy where I’ll keep tors at a 9 out of 10 but give them the slight Edge for first place since they were actually open also I will say they have a lot more flavors but um these I

Think are the best ones so yeah if you’re in Rome come give tors a try let us know what you think and if it says it opens it 12 that probably means 12:45 yeah

  1. Keep doing what you're doing. Your adventures are fab!

Come to the UK and find the best fish and chips!

    👍🇬🇧😊.

  2. To be fair, you did get to spend 50 days trying ice cream in the US and only 20 in Italy. And it also didn’t help that a good handful of the shops weren’t open during when you guys were there. But regardless, I would probably agree and say American ice cream is slightly better than Gelato in Italy

  3. I think the difference is in Usa are more similar to a cheese with sugar, it's very fat and they put in everything, bisquits and others sweets. For the best gelato in Italy is in Rimini, maybe it's depend to the air, this city is near to sea and maybe the noise is more open, but i think this gelato is very good in some taste they caramelized nuts.

  4. Incredibe video and idea, but you cannot try gelato in Italy during the winter, almost all the shop are going to be close, they usually go to vacancy in winter and work from March till October 😉

  5. What's with like half of the gelato business population being closed/closing for an extended period of time? I know they have the thing where they close in the afternoon (their version of a siesta) and open a bit later, but I don't get the massive closures.

  6. I’m telling you, you missed the good places in Italy!!! I traveled there last May and Frigidarium in Rome was by far the best gelato I’ve ever had in my life and trumps ice cream 100000%!!

  7. New suggestions on the way:

Retravel to all 50 states to try Pizza and Ice Cream, then retravel to Italy to try their pizza again.

  8. Let's be honest, a good gelato or ice cream just always hits the spot… Tip – use google translate to find pronunciation cuz I got sad after "San Gimingo" (it was supposed to be pronounced "San Jiminyano", Jee-mee-nya-no; "Gi" is always pronounced like a J, "gn" makes a "ny" or "ñ" in Spanish, and the rest is self-explanatory. The accent falls on the "a".
Most gelaterie are closed due to wintertime. Italy sees gelato as a traditional snack to cool oneself, and they tend to close after October or November until February. The best shops tend to stay open due to educated tourist attractions.
Last thing: The reason for little flavor mix-ins is purely due to tradition. The goal is not variety; it is tradition and simplicity.

  9. Comparing gelato with ice cream is like comparing pancakes with waffles, they're both completely different things
Gelato is more milk-based while ice cream is more fatty, made almost entirely of heavy cream

  10. You’ve lived your whole life eating artificial, fatty and insanely sugary american ice cream, so of course you think it’s best because you’re not used to gelato so much, which doesn’t have as much fat or sugar and the flavors are more natural and usually singular flavored. But if you get to only eat gelato for a year you’ll find american ice cream way too sweet and fatty lol Talking (sort of) from experience lol
