Tasty Thursday say that guy right there I had no recollection of this none he had tears in his eyes when he was eating it he was like oh my gosh this is just like my mom’s I was like okay give me the recipe because that’s going to go
Somewhere Now by that point I had already written the book the book was already made the book was already together and I couldn’t add a recipe it was already in print basically and I thought what am I going to do with it but I knew that somehow I was going to

Uh I don’t have one I’ve only done five and I’m like I’m like okay I’m getting through this I I felt like I did have one that’s all right but I I felt like I had two I’m just going to stay over here and struggle and
Cry I felt like I had to listen this is only five cherries it’s okay I tell you know I mean we just we’re not going to have a lot of cherries it’s fine it’s fine I’m doing my best another weird thing about the recipe is that I told
You that you don’t you don’t cook the tubes okay now these are the ones that I use and by the way I did in the booklet and throughout the entire book where it matters I gave you the exact brands that I use why I use it because I think that matters because
Some Brands cook totally different than others some rotta Cooks totally different than others so I made sure to give you as much information as I could um my my Uncle Tony likes L which means the one without any um can you say that again I like it but I can’t I can’t find
Those so we’re just going to use these These are from burilla pretty like readily available everywhere um and before we go any further I’m going to take some of my sauce and I’m going to layer it in the bottom of my Castoro dish now this makes
Two 9 by 13s because like I said it feeds a good eight people really happily um but again we’re just doing one tonight I’m going to make a makeshift Piping Bag and I’m going to show you how unbelievably easy this entire process is and there’s nothing to be afraid of and
Once I do a couple I am going to give the floor to the God flada so that he can do what he’s got to do I like the piping part it’s cool I like you do you do a good job with that Co this is the
Easiest way to do it the easiest way to do it is to fill it from both ends okay so you’re going to go in on one end so you can kind of see it through here that it’s halfway right if you look it in there can you see in
There I can’t I don’t really I’ll get you real close there you go oh I can’t do it I can’t down yeah oh Yeah there we go and then you just come from the other end and you just fill it look at that and now it’s perfect it’s like a meat canoli it really is and as the meat Cooks the magical things that happens here is that as that cooks the
Meat juice this is going to sound really gross but to a foodie this sounds delicious the meat juices blend in with the sauce the pasta gets cooked by the sauce and the meat juices and the ricotta juices and I am telling you there’s just something so unreal about how good this is
Um the other thing that about this recipe that it’s going to feel weird to you but I’m going to need you to just trust the process is that there’s no cheese on top okay you can serve it with extra parm of course but there’s no additional cheese like Ms on the top um
And again in the book there’s a lovely story about the recipe how it came about every single tip and trick I can think of to give you um and it’s pretty magnificent so while I stuff these cuz I do have to stuff quite a few of them not

Did it so uh good stuff but anyway I’m making a a smash Cherry um kind of like a kind of like a sangria Margarita kind of thing um there’s not really a name for it I just kind of made it up and I think it’s going to be outstanding
Because who doesn’t love a good fruity um drink right uh Lura was kind enough to make me some simple syrup beforehand cuz she has an awesome job with that I’m like I’ll just buy the simple serve and she’s like bro it’s easy I’m like okay
Okay I trust you I trust you that’s one thing I can tell you I always trust my besti whenever she says something easy it usually is um so what I did was I pitted a bunch of cherries right actual fresh cherries you know from the store
Like you can eat them and there’s a there’s a pit in the middle they’re the best cherries in the world but let me tell you you get juice all over your face all over your eyes everything and you don’t if you have a cherry Pitter
Which I know I do I’m sure you do but actually I should say I did but it broke it literally broke a couple weeks ago too I saw it in my cupboard and it was well it’s all right you know it’s a part of life things things you know things
Break or whatever we we just we just roll with it right so what I’m going to do is I got these beautiful cabak Caba oranges uh they are my favorite orang we got nice close up there they’re just so sweet and juicy and just like uh the
Color inside is beautiful so what I’m going to do is I’m going to um I’m going to slice these down I’m also going to squeeze one I’m going to slice a half one for garnish because it’s just really pretty like I just love the love the um
You know love the love love the view of these in in a glass it’s just something about it um but anyway so I’m going to do that um what I’m going to do is I’m going to add a little shot of of grenadine just a little bit of sweet
Cherry juice just to make it nice and and give it a little bit of sweetness just so I can muddle these down and if you’ve never muddled before it’s not hard it’s very easy um you just got to have something wet in there with with your with your ingredients just so you
Can get a little bit of a mash it almost makes like a sry so check this out so um are you okay over there you need any I’m no great you’re just stuffing away okay cool all right stuff at me um I’m going to muddle this down nice and pretty
Right you could probably get a I’m a little yeah there we go perfect Beautiful Joe you you are let me tell you about Joe Joe’s an outstanding individual without him I wouldn’t be able to get these shots and even see what I’m doing because he has a little
Monitor over there for me I even got a splitter and I forgot to set up your monitor like Mike gets his own heads up and I forgot to set it up tonight but I all the parts I just got to get it set up I love a heads up display so so we’re
Just going to make this the idea is to get it coated with the cherries get a little bit of juice in there and just make it nice right and as you pour it into the glass it’s going to be like a little bit of a garnish that’s all and
Some people would say use an Amaro Cherry right but I think this is going to add a little bit more of a of a freshness to it something about it right so much better yeah right so much better um could you do this in the summer and
Wait till the summer yeah but you know what it’s January and this January blues are around for they’re real um and by the way if you have a tip about getting rid of the January blues let me know because I need it all let me tell you um
All right so what I’m going to do is I’m going to squeeze a little bit of I’m going to get I’m going to get my get my shaker L are we okay over there with you yes I just want to pop this into the oven real quick before you make your
Drink do it up it’s really important I want to get this into the oven they’re all filled it’s beautiful there’s an extra one in here but you know what it’s fine it’s really fine I am going to cover this in my sauce and again it’s going to seem excessive but remember you
Need all of that sauce to have all that moisture to cook your pasta So in theory it looks insane in reality it is insanely delicious you know what I’m saying see what I did there and this is going to go into my preheated oven a 375
You’re going to cover it and a good tip is to use a mixture of foil and parchment so that your parchment doesn’t touch the tomato and reacts I’m sorry I might to say that that the aluminum doesn’t touch the tomato and reacts good oven’s on just want to make sure this is
Going to go in there covered for about 40 45 minutes and then we will uncover it and pop it right back in So once now that that’s in I’m going to have him make me a drink okay cool awesome and by the way that looks awesome from over
Here live in color I’m telling you if you just knew the cool stuff that the cool smells that come out of Lara’s house you have no idea all right uh so what I’m going to do now is I’m going to throw in a shot of tequila if I can open the tequila that

Running a test because I had to set up a modem out in the a remote part of Florida where they only had one megabit per second so I created a throttler basically and I throttled the network on a test Network within our home not realizing that when I deleted the SSID
That that was applied to it then applied basically randomly applied to various devices on our network but not mine so I never had the problem but y all did and so one day I’m just poking around in there I’m like wonder why Laura’s laptop’s so slow man it’s taking like 75
Minutes to upload a video that should take minutes it took four hours and I look I’m like oh my God I left this throttler turned on but it’s not applied to anything so what’s happening I deleted it boom it said 3 minutes remaining I was like oh my God I wanted

Cherries into a grenadine um and then I did a shake uh pour over top of Vice very nicely and then you you dump the cherries over top top them let the cherry juice kind of go into it top of a little bit of little bit of um of uh of
Ginger ale for for good measure and uh also squeeze an orange and a lemon into the into the Shaker too as you do it because it gives it that Citrus taste um it’s a very fresh drink and it it really you can’t really taste tequil in it it’s
Actually really nice so um a good a good fresh shipper for January when you get the January blues just imagine yourself on an island and be happy you know or just on the beach either one even if I was on South Beach uh last week it was

Know I’m not I feel very very proud that this book came together primarily with a team of all women and the reason why I say that is because I feel like men and women have very distinct strengths and a strength of a woman bad or good is
That we don’t forget a thing no they don’t we pay very close attention to lots of things you know Laura what they say women are the best archaeologists because they’re great at digging up the past that’s true right yes they are so one of so this book was pulled together
By a group of women who not only helped me pull it together but they encouraged this vision to a level that you cannot understand when I wanted when I wrote initially when we talked about writing a second book it was going to be a totally different book it was
Going to be a collection of great recipes obviously but after I delivered um I delivered a um what’s it called babe uh manuscript a manuscript I delivered a manuscript like um basically you have to sell the idea you write a mini version of that book right and once
We I sent that over and we had many conversations after that I felt like all of us collectively like just like changing lanes into this you know we’re talking a whole lot about Italian food we’re talking a whole lot about your Italian food and what that means to you
And how it’s molded you and shaped you and this came primarily from my editor and Clark s Potter who is so brilliant it’s matched and so we kind of all just collectively thought okay this needs to be an Italian book but it was very important to me that this was not just
Any Italian book and it was also important that this was not an Italian American book so it wasn’t going to be an Italian book filled with fedini alfredo and chicken parm I have absolutely no desire to write an Italian book like that not to say that those recipes aren’t great but they’re just
Let’s face it they’re not Italian Italian recipes and if I was going to write an Italian book it needed to be my Italian book so that was important now I’m gonna be very honest with you it’s a tough sale right it’s a tough sell because people will buy Italian books
Filled with fetuccini alfredo and chicken parm all day long which isn’t like real classic Italian it’s not but I just didn’t have any desire to write that I wanted to write a book that was not only filled with amazing recipes but it was filled with amazing just heart and soul and stories
And just a way for those of you that have known me for years to get to know me on such a deep level and for those of you that have never met me before just pick up this book for the first time you just fall in love with the idea of
Italian food and the Italian way of living if you look at the back of the book all of the items on that table she look very familiar to you that was shot at my home that was shot in my backyard well technically technically and my neighbors but it was shot on our proper
Neighb thank you thank you to my amazing neighbors everything on that on that table with the very with the only exception of the salt and pepper shaker everything on that table should look very familiar to you that’s my Dutch oven it’s not behind me but it’s under
There those are my plates cups my mason jars my chipped picture like it’s you’re sitting at my table this that that’s my table this is this is I wanted that that’s very important to me like I wanted this book to be so real and so authentic and so beautiful I thought
That was going to make the cover photo by the way yeah I really did but at the same time the reason why it didn’t is because if you don’t know me at all I don’t want I didn’t want this book to just appeal to those of you that know me
Cuz yeah you know me if you see me on the cover you’ll buy the book but I want this book to appeal to everybody and some people may be put off by an author on the cover that has happened uh but that is just such a magnificent shot
That you can’t look at that and not just like fall in love but I also want you to see when we shot some of the recipes like that’s my backyard that’s my oven right when we shot every I got the shot here on cam

Of our family for I don’t know 70 plus years since she’s been making it since her parents were making it with lemons from their backyard there are recipes in here that are very treasured they’re very special there’s you know things in here like chestnuts like roasting chestnuts there’s chestnuts two ways
There’s things in here like my na snack cake where she makes one base of a cake and then throws whatever fruit she wants in it and some lemonchello and it’s suddenly spectacular there’s recipes in here for cak it and there’s the best thick Italian hot chocolate it’s kind of
Like a thick hot pudding that’s to die for there’s pastiera there’s just all of the recipes that you guys know me for and additional ones that have been in our family for Generations that have helped mold me and who I am not to mention that the photos of n were here
They were here and she came here for this yeah if you guys remember somebody said that they’re that they got choked up seeing the pictures the picture of n yeah I can’t look at it because I will cry and I’m I’m trying to get lit and
I I don’t want to cry um but one of the things we’re making tonight we’re making a fugato which is ice cream that you drown in Coffee espresso and the reason why I’m making this recipe is because I made this for everybody when I was writing the recipes for this book and I
Wrote a recipe for a hazelnut semi fro with a sesame hazelnut brittle that is quite possibly now I’m not just saying this myself because the entire team at the photo shoot said it’s the best best ice cream they’ve ever had when I was writing this recipe remember I made this
On our very very first tasty Thursday and Brin came to surprise me and I made the yogato with that ice cream and do you guys remember how you all went nuts for it it’s from that recipe so it’s a book that you’ll read through it and you’ll love it’s also extremely helpful
If I do say so myself I feel like I kill this okay for many reasons I give you every single thing you can think of from Pantry Staples like I said Brands specific Brands I don’t get paid for them but I feel like they matters it
Matters for you to know what brands I use through the entire book Pantry items what I keep on hand in terms of like to cook like supplies and whatnot um there’s also different categories there are categories for the quickish week night situation there’s also an Italian sundae there’s appetizers there’s a
Beautiful salads and side dishes and then there’s a dessert and the great thing about the apps sides and desserts is that those three sections those three um I gu section chapters chapters thank you the recipes from those three chapters go with every listen guys she’s pushing 40 you start to forget stuff you
Do you’re not actually pushing forward I’m not you uh I’m also trying lingual just so you know and I today I had a thought to myself where I was thinking in Italian but I didn’t realize I was thinking in Italian and I couldn’t remember if I was thinking in Italian or
English is that well you don’t speak different languages so that doesn’t appeal to you I speak enough that I can get confused um what was I saying so the those recipes the appetizers sides and desserts go with every main on both chapters the quick and easy and the leisurely Sunday and that’s amazing
Because you want to peat recipes that’s how you build Collections and that’s how you build memories through food you only build memory through food by cooking the same ones over and over again or at least the ones that your family resonates with right you’re telling me you’re going to make chicken cullets
Once in your life and that’s it they’ll become a weekly staple you’re telling me you’re going to make baked cidi once in your life and that’s it that becomes a Sunday family treasured recipe and all of those recipes are in this book so I love me a chicken cuy chcken are so good

I preordered your book as soon as it was available so, for me, it’s been a long wait. I very rarely buy cookbooks anymore but your is an exception. By the way, I absolutely LOVE affogato but have always made it with vanilla gelato. Looking forward to trying it with hazelnut ice cream.
