Snow and Curt travel slow, but even they slow down a bit more in certain places to really let it all sink in. This full time travel couple seeks out hidden gems during their van life travel. Cinque Terre may not be a secret hidden gem, but most be people rush thru this place in a day or maybe two. Snow and Curt decided to take thier time and really dive deep into each of the five towns. In their last video, they visited two of the five towns and in this video they tour through Corniglio and Vernazza! Come along for the journey!

If you remember in the last video we covered two of the villages in jinko Terra the northernmost and the southernmost but we are still in the southernmost because it’s time to grab some food so I am in Italy I must have some pizza what’d you get Kurt
I got some seafood and that’s what’s really cool about this place there’s something for both of us snow does not like seafood they have fried fish here and pizza what an odd combination but it’s perfect for us so we’re going to then we’ll be hopping on the train
And taking you to the third town here in ch we have three more towns to go guys it should be exciting guys I had a little Seafood in here it looks like it’s a little calamari I see eyes a little shrimp a little fish and some kind of crow
Cats and it looks like the famous lemon and then french fries so fried fish for kurk tastes like fish so I don’t think this is actually Pizza I think it’s that fagio stuff it’s like a bread and some of them have topping and some of them don’t but
Mine’s vegetarian I’ve got some greens looks like some mozzarella some little tomatoes and he drizzled some balsamic on there for me it’s really really good now we are headed to the train where we are going to go to the middl town that sits up
On a hill it’s the only one of the five towns that doesn’t actually go down and touch the coastline but it’s supposed to be beautiful and I think we take a train and then from there we’ll take
A bus up to the top of the hill it’s definitely more crowded than it was this morning standing room only but we only have like 5 minutes we’re going to skip the next town and we get out on the
Second stop so it’s not too bad we’re going to the hill in the middle welcome to corniglia so we got off the train and then at this town you have two options you can walk up the hill to the top which
Most people do but it would take me a really long time and just slap wear me out so we are going to take the second option which is they have a bus that runs back and forth from the train station
Up to the top of the hill where the center of town is and we are going to take that bus up top to save me the wear and tear on my heart and make me last a little bit longer today um now we bought a
One-day train pass and that comes with being able to ride the trains all through [ __ ] ter it it will cover the cost of this bus ride to the top and it also allows us to use the public restrooms
For free in the train stations um if it was season and the hiking drills between towns were open our one-day pass would also cover those but that’s where we’re at so we’ve already paid for it we
Might as well wait a few minutes and take the bus to the top what is it Cornelia corelia Cornelia all right Coria we made it to the top of the hill and well so far I see a village on a hill but if
You look right in front of it you see all the old stone walls and the old wooden doors and right up here on Hill I think is a church and of course we have the beautiful sea views so be interesting to
See what the uniqueness is about this city let’s do it I’ll never forget in medine Colombia when they had homes like this built on the Hills they called them generational homes and what would happen is The Family the original people who built the house on the hill would build their
Family a house on the first floor maybe the second floor and then when the the children were old enough to have a family they would get the air there so the air was the floor above so
The third floor they would inherit that and they would build their home on the third floor and so sometimes you’d have three generations like in a three or four story home built up on the hill
And of course they’re all pressed up against each other and then the homes like this that push up the mountains in Rio diero are called favellas and of course they have the narrow sidewalks and all that type of stuff but all of them are just colorful and stunning in their own unique
Way but wow we have seen houses pushed up on the hill like this all over the world haven’t we snow and the way they’re able to construct these is amazing and the cool thing about these areas is
Some of the structure for these has been here for centuries now I’m sure they’ve been remodeled and everything but the basic structure of the roads and the foundations really old and incredible but here since we’ve been in Italy we’ve noticed all the different stones and stonework and you
Can see the plaza of this church is stones and then again like the last church we saw almost like a Sandstone or a slate brick a big marble window facade a little humble statue and a big
Wooden door let’s go in and check this thing out look at how ornate this is and again you can see it’s characteristic of the churches in this area with the black and white stripes and the white marble and the black stone and also I’m not sure if the Red Stone Polish there making
The columns is um like a marble or what kind of stone it is but there’s intricate work all over the walls and even on this the ceiling paintings are just elaborate and beautiful and then right up here in front there’s a big statue of Jesus Christ hanging on the
Cross wow what a grand church and again these churches in this region are definitely more humble on the outside than some of the ones we saw up in France so far but on the inside and this with the paintings on the ceiling is just wow
And just look at the mix of building materials on this wall it’s such a p Patchwork you can see big giant Stones you can see bricks in some cases you can see sort of square blocks and there’s a lot of archways and windows and tunnels and
Stairwells and just narrow paths through all these buildings these tall skinny buildings and what’s cool is they also have these little water stations throughout so you can get you some fresh potable water but look at this as we move through towards the Town Center incredible huh
Guys and we’ve arrived at the city center there’s a big statue of corniglia and then there’s also another church so both these towns most of these towns we’ve been have at least even though they’re
Pretty small village I at least a couple churches go up and see if we can get that one I don’t see the door open it looks like there’s also a view of the ocean in the back from here you can see
Where corneglio doesn’t have sea access there’s a sea cliff here and I’m going to tell you we’re a good couple hundred feet above the water up here where the hill is the Hill Village is you can see the other Village built out there on the edge of the the mountains all colorful just
Stacked houses poking out there on the island and then otherwise it’s just a steep Cliff face along here and when I say the train goes through a lot of tunnels the tunnels go through right through
Those those mountains on the side of the cliff and then as we look up towards the sky again you can see The Vineyards and the steaks for the for the for the grapes and for the olive trees and for all
The other crops they grow here and what I begin to notice in addition to the Citrus there’s also quite a lot of palm trees in this area meaning we’re getting definitely into a more moderate climate across the way you can see the steeple for that ornate church we were in with the beautiful
Ceiling pictures and then here’s a little church right here and the square if you can see snows down there with the little white cat on the Park Bench guys I think I made a friend what are you doing
Yes what’d you get snow I got the basil and lemon right there cuz what are you going to get I want to I want to get the corneglio yeah okay you want the same size yeah so it has the texture of sherbet and it’s definitely got lemon in in a very
Strong basil flavor which I absolutely love I definitely picked the right one and I got like the Cornelio Cornelio special yeah so let’s get and it’s like a mixture of cream and all sorts of local ingredients I’m not sure what they are
It’s definitely got some vanilla in it and it is tasty so as I get in here I’m starting to see the hidden ingredients there’s like cherries in here like dried cherries there’s also sort some sort
Of nuts maybe like pine nuts or something like that and I can also taste a little wine and I saw that on the thing local wine so there’s all sorts of little surprise treats in there
Good so it’s almost time to leave this little town catch the bus back down to the train and then the train will take us to our house so I am on the bus about to take my ride down Kurt
Decided to walk down so we’ll see what he sees along the way we will catch back up with him at the train to go home all right snow’s going to wait to take the bus on down I’m going
To walk on down uh just to get one last glimp glimpse of this beautiful little area we’re at right here I think she’s got about a 20 minute wait so I’ll probably be down there waiting on
Her anyway but right here you can see the train track and then it disappears in that tunnel and really doesn’t show up until that other town over there out there on the island so that’s
Where we got to go down to that train station and you can see I’ve been talking about all the different plants that they grow right here these trees right in front of us are olive trees all right I made it down here it was about a 10-minute walk just beautiful temperature outside
Probably in the upper 60s Fen can hear a train coming it’s headed the other direction that’s not our train and how’s this for timing there’s the bus you can see everybody’s jammed in there like it’s a big Sardine Can but actually snow did beat me back by about 20 seconds I’m going
To keep walking and let’s see when she gets off the bus if she actually beats me she’s probably sitting down so I’m sure she’s going to have to wait for everybody else to get off so perfect
Timing and voila there she is perfect timing I just got here all right last train ride of the day is over we are back in the town where we are parked we are about 100 yards or 100 met from our little tiny house on Wheels which is one of the amazing things about
Traveling with a van it’s usually pretty close to you but we’ve got to get over there and get the door opened and I’m sure G money thinks he’s starving to death so we got to go feed
Them so let’s go see the kitty cats all right what do you guys think the kitties are doing they just heard the door unlocked there’s Vanna what are you doing pumpkin where’s G huh you going to get out of my way no okay so our campsite here at the northernmost town of
The five towns of [ __ ] ter has turned out to be amazing but what you need to know is it’s pretty expensive and it’s only available during the off seon uh when this place starts to get crowded they
Put a bar up that doesn’t allow tall vehicles to get into this parking lot there’s really no Services they say there’s a bathroom but I think that’s even closed during the off seon but that doesn’t mean people don’t use it look at all these Vans behind us because it’s perfectly
Located about a f minute walk from the train station that’ll get us anywhere here plus when you look out your window you see the beautiful ocean now we have already seen three of the five
Towns today we hope to take you to the last two the first one we’re going to is vernazza and uh it’s supposed to be just as beautiful if the as the others so we’re going to go get on the train
And head that way oh this campsite $25 a day with no Services you are paying for location location location for for sure it’s worth it cuz this was a bucket liser and I sure am enjoying
Getting to show y’all this place because it is incredible so let’s go have our last day in [ __ ] ter good morning Kitty good morning all right we made it to our next city which is vernazza and this is kind of the Second
City from the north just north or just south of monosa and let’s go check it out it’s narrow streets with tall bu colorful buildings so this should be exciting let’s go see what we can find
In this city so from the little bit of research that I did on each City before we went to them this city is kind of known for of course being beautiful but you get off the train at the station
And it’s at the top of the hill and then there is one main road that runs all the way down the hill to the coast I guess it’s like their main street it’s not what they call it but so our first order
Of business here we’ll be walking all the way down to the water and checking that out and then as we go back up we may explore some more of these side streets but first things first let’s go hear some
Waves let’s run away to Italy and by a house next to the Sea till years go by till years go by El while I talk to God about the Stars your eyes how your lips curve just like the sun rise so I ask you hard can you be mine to help this hopeless
Roman way over there in the distance at the bottom of that mountain is the town we’re camped in mon Roo so was only a 3 minute train ride most of it in a tunnel through that
Mountain this is as close as we’ve got to these cool rocks so while we at the train station we met the sweetest coolest little Italiano man and he had some stories he grew up up along
This Coastline in Ina and he lives here now and he told us a lot of stories but the town we stay is is is montos montoso mon Roo mon Roo in any event that it stands for I think
Red Mountain or red stone and so if you kind of look up in these mountains there’s traces of iron which give them their color red so when the Romans came here they named it montosa for
The red color of the stone so we found that to be very fascinating very cool we’ve seen a lot of the red residue on some of the buildings and stuff around here as well so this is the Church
Of Santa Margarita de antia and Legend has it that now from what we’re learning as we research this history when someone is a saint bits in pieces of their body are you know they people want to
Keep them close so Legend has it that a long long time ago a finger of Santa Margarita washed up in a small wooden box on this Shore now the locals found it and they went several kilometers away
And wanted to build a church in her honor a big storm came and destroyed that church sometime later the finger showed up in the same box in the exact same location so the locals took that as a
Definite sign from above and built the church in her honor right here on the shore now the first time there’s any written record of it is 1318 no one knows exactly when they built it there’s no historical data on that but between 1500 and 1600 it was renovated to add some bells and
Make it larger and when they did that they kind of destroyed the medieval feel and and put a a new spin on it then again in the 1700s they did some more renovation on it where they removed the
Wood beams that were in the ceiling and made it a little more modern but if you believe the legend of this church it’s got some pretty cool history so there’s a stone walkway around the church that kind of walks along this little Bay and you can see the the seaw walls that have
Been built and the rocks that are just scattered throughout and even the Cobblestone path just kind of Meander over it but you can just see the years the history on these walls and on these buildings so while Kurt took that little Coastal walk right there I sat here on the Park Bench
Pulled up our brand new app which is how you buy train tickets here in Italy so we are learning quickly the rules and how you do this public transportation so it is 10:20 now Kurt there’s a train right now clearly we can’t make it but there’s a train at 11:25 to the next
Town I think that’s the one we should get right all right so the trusty app look at us public transportation all right some of these little towns are am Maze and I messed up and started the day with a low battery on my phone so the map for the city we’re up to
Snow to navigate but look at these beautiful narrow sidewalks through here woo that’s a big walk Castillo Doria so we didn’t think we were going to be able to get here cuz it looked like it was closed from down bottom but we made it that was a lot
Of stairs for me but I made it to the top and look at this view it’s beautiful all right right up here on this fort that sits overlooking the city you can see the church and the railway down there and all The Terraces there’s a tower and it looks like we can
Go in and it’s got a spiral St staircase now we did a lot of stairs on the way up here so Snow’s getting take a break from this but this is a one only one way at a time type place we’re going up woo that taller than I would have thought
What goes up must come down let’s go down we go we’re winding down our time here we have now finished touring four of the five towns one last one more we’re at the train station our next town is Manola whether we’re saying that right or not I
Don’t know Manola if you like this video be sure to subscribe to our Channel and hit that notification Bell so you guys know when we put out new videos and don’t forget you can always follow us over on Instagram to see what’s going on in between videos cheers guys

Fromaggio is cheese not bread.
Sorry I missed commenting on your video, I unfortunately spent the day in hospital. My golden retriever caused me to dislocate my ankle (plus fractured in couple places), oh bother. Love your videos, spent several days in Airbnb on the mountain top close to Riomaggiore, best time ever. Cheers.

Awesome video! Thank you always for showing and explaining all you experience!
Very cool – this region is on my bucket list, and your video just confirms its place on that list! Also love seeing all the kitties around town. I'm writing from a very hot and humid Mumbai on a work trip, so I could almost smell the fresh Mediterranean air through my screen. Just lovely, as always thanks for sharing.
My brother's In-laws are Greek and he told me about one particular family home housed a few generations similarly as you explained in one of the towns Corniglia part of Cinque Terres. Hugs as always from Dublin Ireland 🍀🍀💚💚🇮🇪🇮🇪😺😺
