I was gonna get a box of franzia tonight but at $20 a box i went with 2 magnums of oak leaf..When i started drinkijng franzia it was $14 a box but now at $20 a box its no longer an affordable wine

I’m in Ontario, Canada and everything is pretty strictly controlled by the LCBO (Liquor Control Board of Ontario) so it’s hard to find cheap wine. Even most of our boxed wine is a little over $40 for 4 litres. But there’s an independent wine store called Magnotta and you can get a 16l box of wine for about $115 depending on your wine preference. I will never be too good to spend that little on wine😂 that’s really about as cheap as it gets here, sales on booze aren’t really a thing beyond a few cents or $1, maybe $2 off the really expensive stuff.

The most useless feature of boxed wine it stays fresh 6+ weeks after opening. Usually the box gets empty much, much faster.
I switched to boxed wine because my husband doesn't drink (just the occasional beer), and I usually only have one glass with dinner, so a bottle would go bad by the time I finished it. My go-to is the Black Box Cabernet.

The funny thing is that boxed wine (or cask wine as it is called here) has almost disappeared.
Screw top wine was bad enough, and box wine is extremely low rent
All box wines that I have tried have tasted very cheap and just not good
I’ve never tried boxed wine because I was always made to believe it was trashy. And at the same time I’ve always wanted to. 😅
