Florence is the BEST home base to see Northern and Central Italy. The regional train system in this region makes it too easy to set up in Florence and stop having to pack up and move towns or hotels every day. I can’t begin to tell you how much freedom this gave me on my trip.

My top 5 reasons to make Florence your home base in Italy:

1. I saved time and money by getting a lower rate on the hotel for my extended stay. Plus I saved time not having to repack and move so often.

2. Florence is the best home base because it’s centrally located. This makes day trips out to popular cities like Pisa, Milan, Venice, and Rome extra easy and quick.

3. Speaking of quick travel, Florence is the best home base because it is a transportation hub. Trains, buses, car rental shops, and more all converge here in Florence, further increasing the places you can visit when you set Florence as your home base.

4. Florence is the perfect city if you are a traveler who enjoys art, history, picnics, sunsets, food and wine. It is a short ride out to Tuscany to visit all the wineries!

5. Florence has so much to do, see, and eat but has the feel of a small town. Shop at reltailers like H&M or take it local to the Mercato Centrale. East homemade pasta, sip wine at Piazzale Michelangelo, or climb the Torre di Arnolfo at my favorite museum, Piazza Vecchio.

Do you agree with me and see Florence as the BEST home base, or is there a better city to set up in when you visit Italy? Tell me in the comments!

Also waiting for you so just hop in the car or hop on a group tour and explore local wineries and Landscapes Florence is a Transportation Hub trains buses or car rental locations all connect through Florence now when I was there I used the train line app to

Search and book all of my train tickets this video isn’t sponsored by train line although I am open to a deal train line if you’re watching I found the app just really easy to use and I could keep all my tickets right there on my phone

Instead of printing out a bunch of extra papers to have to carry around using Florence as my home base was the perfect way to see so many of the northern and Central Italy sites making it just way way too easy to visit all of the iconic

Italian sites that you want to see just by hopping on a regional train or bus so I’ve told you how Florence is a Transportation Hub it’s centrally located but what else are you going to do when you’re in Florence to me Florence gives that small town Vibe but

With lots of famous sites to see and lots of places to shop if you want to get something to take home as a souvenir Florence is also awesome if you are into history and art it gives that Italian charm especially in the early mornings or maybe after 3:00 or 4: in the

Afternoon when all the tours clear out and you’re left with just this warm sunny glow your gelato and tons of families out enjoying the evening air it’s also set around Tuscany AKA Wine Country and it’s just an easy 30 minute ride out to tour all the wineries and

Eat your weight in cured meats and cheeses now as far as what to do in Florence Florence is just rich in history dating back to the first century BC and it was the center of the Renaissance art movement so if you love learning about history and art you will

Be up to your eyeballs and things to do here one of the most famous art museums I think second to the lou is the uiti gallery and that’s right here in Florence overlooking the Arno River the Galleria Del Academia or the Academia Gallery houses one of the most famous

Statues in the world Michelangelo’s David you can also G up to the golden doors known as the gates of paradise around the Baptist Street of San Giovani you can climb the duo of the Santa Maria delori church you can climb any one of the many Towers overlooking the city now

My favorite Tower personally is the Palazio beo at pad Dela Senora Square my cute little hotel that I stayed in had a window that looked out over this Tower and it was just so beautiful it became my little home on my trip in Florence another another place to see is The

Palazo pity or the pity Palace now this is another art museum that used to be a palace for several prominent families starting back in the 15th century now if you’re like me and you’re not really that big into art I would skip the palace tour and go straight to the back

Where the gardens hide these are called The bble Gardens and these were by far my favorite Gardens in Florence to Sea The Gardens are beautiful they’re sprawling and it’s just a great way to spend the afternoon maybe have a picnic and just Lounge under the shade trees

And Overlook the city there’s also a beautiful Garden Terrace near the back that overlooks the city’s Countryside and the views are gorgeous of course another place I’m sure you’ve seen all over Instagram are the steps at palii Michelangelo and of course when you cross over the arnno river you can’t

Miss a stop at one of the wine windows for an afternoon apparati if you’re in the mood for shopping or eating some delicious food head on over to Marcato centrali now this is a Central Market building but the vendors are set up all outside to sell everything from clothing to fine leather

Goods head inside the first floor if you’re looking for foods and spices to take home and cook maybe some souvenirs to take home as gifts but don’t forget to head upstairs a lot of people miss this because on the second level there is a wide variety of foods from all over

The world I went there several times when I was there because it was very close to the hostle that I was staying at and it was very easy to just go in there and grab something to go if I didn’t want to sit down and eat this

Place is very good if you have several people in your group because everybody can get something different of course I can’t forget to mention Pono Bridge it’s one of only a handful of bridges like it that have been inhabited for a really long time and it’s the oldest bridge in

Florence dating back to the 14th century when it was rebuilt after a flood fun fact it used to have a bunch of butchers and Tanners but it was said that the smell was just too much for the aristocrats who live next door to endure so they threw the butchers out and they

Replaced them with Jewelers and goldsmiths and that is what you will find there today along with leather Florence is very known for its gold wees one of my most favorite things to do when I was in Florence was just get lost in the Alleyways and streets grab yourself a coffee or a gelato

And see if you can get lost down some of these neighborhoods you will stumble upon beautiful old churches that nobody talks about and beautiful little squares and neighborhoods where you can sit back watch the sunset and watch a bunch of local families hang out with their kids

Florence has a magic that just gives you that small town Vibe with all of the draws of a larger City Florence is just the Best of Both Worlds now as I said before I am hosting a group trip to Italy we’re going to Rome we’re going to
