I show you the raw state and condition of the farmhouse that I bought in rural Italy and discuss some of the plans for the restoration. A view of the land, the barns and the derelect outbuildings plus a first look into that natural water well that I have on my land in Marche. Italy.

You should get a feel for how the Italian house was when during my first few days of owning house and land in Italy. There is a lot of clearing and tidying to do but by showing you what it looks like and the condition that the house is in when you move in it should give you a feel for the scale of the restoration that is infront of me.

Chapters
00:00 Opeing up and condition of the house
04:19 mistakes that lead to hundreds of bites
07:06 showing the mess within the weeds
10:11 The Tour of the house, land and outbuildings

My website (coming soon) will be threeacresofmarche.com

Here you will find more detail content that should suit those seriously looking at Italy and want to know more about the costs and challenges.

On social I have two links for Intstagram. One for myself as I explore Marche and Italy in general with the second being more specific about my house renovation of Casa Capitolo (translates as Chapter House – inspired by Erin and Josh over on Wild Wonderful Off-Grid).

instagram.com/casacapitolo
instagram.com/richard.nash.it

If you like the channels that I am inspired by, such as @WildWonderfulOffGrid @MartijnDoolaard and @Mrandmrsadventure then you are in the right place (there are many more great channels that I watch and am inspired by…)

This is my new channel which is all about my grand design and plans to renovate an old disused rustic farmhouse that I purchased in rural Italy. I will cover why I chose to buy a house in Italy and why I chose to live in the Marche region over places such as Tuscany and Puglia.

I plan to show you the house search process, viewings, and how I found the house that I bought. Important aspects of what was involved to buy the property and show the challenging task of renovating and building in a rural location.

What services will be off grid and which services will I keep on grid. All is yet to be determined and agreed.

Plans, prices, permissions and wine….wine will be enjoyed along the way (and great food).

This rural farmhouse renovation will take me some time and I plan to enjoy all that Italy has to offer along the way. The farmhouse renovation is a priority but so was moving to Italy for the sweet life!

If you wonder what the life and lifestyle is like when moving to Italy or if you are planning to move to Italy then I hope to cover that off also.

I hope you enjoy my videos and pop by to say hello in the comments!

He Okay For Let’s Take a Ride Along the we don’t need to work we can sit around and play I’ve been waiting for so long to get away baby don’t hold back all you got to do is say what would you like to be satisfied with me I’ve been counting moment so love I’ve been Catchings

From above all I want to do is satisfy you baby all you want is to be satisfied with Me after the first day of doing the brambles where I wore shorts and a blue t-shirt got bit maybe 100 maybe 150 times so new outfit head to toe covered socks tucked in see what happens today A yeah for Just it’s hot again um so much work to clear all this these combination really thick Ivy and Vines and very thick Rambles and then there’s Fallen roof there’s structures like this where previous owner just seem to tie everything to do everything else so you can’t come in with the Strummer it’s too

Dangerous um and then finding oil drums and all sorts of stuff so I’m going to try and get right in the thick of that bit there trying to open it up got cuz I’m randomly finding uh more fruit trees on a Cher tree loads of fig

Trees I think there’s a pair tree but some fruit on it so yeah a lot of work on well Cool This time for the tour let’s uh show you what I bought so it’s this little green patch coming up on the left hand side three and a half acres or so right in the middle of Farmland really so Vineyard just on the left there and all the surounding farmers look after the fields

Very well this is a long driveway from the road and that piece on the left is the other Farmer’s access but otherwise no one comes down here so it’s quite a nice private entrance and feels like a really long driveway uh so there’s the main house there’s the out house in the

Middle there which is the one with the flat roof and there are two barns so the field needs a bit of work uh I’ll talk about that another day CU there’s a lot going on there but this is this gives you an idea of the sort of

Size of it and the position of it all so main front door okay so I’ve been using this as the main door um this is the back end of the house and it’s an old storage room so I’ve just dumped all my tools and stuff

In there for now cuz uh or we’ll talk about the out house in a minute it’s not great in there into the kitchen or if you can call it a kitchen there was a kitchen in it when I viewed it but they took it out and left literally

Nothing so bricks an old door a gas bottle and a camping stove and it’s good to go fireplace needs ripping out I bought a temporary fridge sh hallway into uh a small room which will be the kitchen um using it as a bedroom here because the mosquito Nets on the

Windows are bit broken and Tatty um need a Mozzy net but they’re not too bad and does this show it yeah the view you won’t be in the house much in the summer cuz it’s so hot so outside space is more important anyway so down the corridor a bit further into a very

Large room um which I’m using as a dump room and an office for when I work from home and then there’s this corner room where I guess that in the corner there was where they used to have the AL Cal heating but yep they took that out as

Well um couldn’t take the bathroom out though so luckily I’ve got a bathroom beautiful as it is it works hot cold water really good boiler and um that shower there it’s kind of like a wet room everything gets wet so one benefit hot sorry cold water mains coming in and

The boiler works and it’s got Main’s power off the grid what more do you need Blue Sky good food good wine and a view this will be all landscaped in time um I’ve got to check the rules about Landscaping anyway out house let’s not talk about this one for

The minute because uh long story short I’ve seen a snake in there and I’ve seen loads of rats so I’ll come back to that one there’s two bars if you can call them bars um so on the left there’s the back of the out house and the previous

Owner is just a hoarder I’ve pulled all this stuff out of trees and bushes and all sorts so there were about 30 odd chicken CS um so i’ burnt all those so far uh didn’t record all that and good bit for the rag and Bow Man now this is

What you call a barn and the roof has fallen in and he’s got two quite mature trees growing right in the middle of it so I’m going to guess it’s not been used for a while however the important thing with the these barns this and the other

One you’ll see in a second is they’re on the uh they’re on the plants and so therefore they could be turned into something in the future and they’re pretty big as you can see how high they are um this is the top Barn um which you’ve seen but it’s important they’re on the

  1. Thank you for all the lovely comments and support. This feels very heart warming when jumping into someting new and putting it online. I love the questions and will try answer as many as I can. Video #1 sets up a few of the big questions, for those that have not watched that yet. 👍

  2. Good luck with this Richard, plenty of work there to get stuck in to and I’m looking forward to following you along with this. Keep it real 👍

  3. surely, renting a bobcat and big ass mulcher for a weekend would be worth it to landscape that jungle?

  4. I was a regular visitor to Magione back in 2005, looks like you have your dream house, gorgeous rolling farm land, just like here in North Yorkshire, all the best on your venture.. ive subscribed and will enjoy watching!!

  5. Looks good. Lots of work, which I am sure you're up for.

You should have a lot less mosquitoes once you clear the junk that the previous owners left. There's obviously a problem with standing water collecting in the area which they love. Also careful with that roofing product, it looks like it's asbestos

  6. I mean… who is gonna pay 50k to go and live where the politics are fast changing to dictatorship?

  7. Oh man, subscribed after watching first few minutes, wanna watch this place bloom!

  8. My mother is Swedish. My father's parents are both from Marche. My grandfather came to the U.S. from Montalto as a young teen & my grandmother came as a child from San Benedetto. I've been to Marche twice visiting their home towns & have thought about retiring there a few times..

  9. Très belle vidéo, pleine de charme. Vu depuis la Belgique sous la neige et par -14 degrés. Bravo aussi pour le courage et bonne continuation.

  10. Hi Richard 🙋🏻‍♂️ Hopefully you will continue to post videos. I really like the amateur spirit 👍

  12. Wish our house in France was as messy as that when we bought it. It was 5 times as bad. Funny thing is we used the same brush as you !

  13. Well done Richard, I lived for a year as a student in Urbino at the other end of the region in 1990-91 and loved it. Good luck and looking forward to seeing your next instalment.

  14. Cheers from Atlanta, GA. Somehow, this video popped up in my feed. Your style is very different from all of the other copy cat, bough home in Italy, remodel channels. Which is a good thing.

Keep us posted. Many of us enjoy the details in what it takes to do the work.

    Thanks for posting.
