So for the third year in a row wine spectator has released its top 10 value wines the regular wine spectator top 10 wines of the year that came out a few months ago had some pretty affordable wines but these wines here on this list are all under 40 bucks I just took a
Quick glance at the list I’ve tasted some of the wines I have some opinions about the other I’m going to share those with you I was going to release a high-end super tuskin blind tasting video today but I’ll just have to wait till Wednesday or next week I have no
Idea how wine spectator compiles this list they have lots of of editors lots of reviewers are probably in a room debating but I don’t know how they come down to the top 10 but let’s take a look at the list number 10 the topies malbe uko valley Ulta Collection San Pablo
Vineyard 2021 90 points they gave it 19 bucks I haven’t tasted this particular wine but it is from high elevation Vineyards I don’t think you can go wrong with the Argentinian melbeck and anywhere from the 19 to $25 range that’s tremendous value for money especially if you like bigger red wine the higher
Elevation mobucks to me they can be a little darker in color because they have more intense UV sunlight but they have this nice minerally note especially when they’re high quality ones if you’ve tasted it let me know number nine great value for money the S coset this is the
Kot Theon 2022 21 bucks s cosme makes a number of great wines from the southern rone I really like their jig andas they make a fantastic shat enough to pop the cool thing is these wines are widely distributed coat durone from the south of France are made of granach sarra
Morra they’re some of the best value for money red wines in the world in fact my most viewed long video is a blind tasting of coat durone Wines in Europe you can find a lot of cheap maybe3 to $4 coat donon I don’t think they’re very
Good at all in the US if you’re going to see a coat to run on the Shelf the Importer Distributors the shop owners have probably curated the wines pretty well and they’re worth checking out this is a little bit more in the expensive side for a coat to R well-known producer
Though well distributed and it’s a wine that I highly recommend number eight Volver the elante TMA Hill old Vines 2020 20 bucks 91 points they gave it made from 100% monrell known as Mor Vedra you look at Appalachians like alacante yeka and JIA which by the way I
Have an upcoming blind tasting of Huma wines these wines offer tremendous value for money they’re made from old Bush Vines so it’s Old Vine material this is kind of the home of Mor Vedra monastral they’re big fruity wines with a touch of earthiness and rusticity very easy for a
Lot of people to enjoy them alacante is a more obscure appalation to find in the US at least I always recommend Jia wines as a dinner party wine a barbecue wine I think they tremendous value for money number seven a wine I’m very familiar with this is the Brewer Clifton datam
Charday Santa Barbara County 2022 92 points 23 bucks what a great value for money Brewer Clifton makes absurd chardes P noirs this is their stainless steel only version their other Brewer Clifton chardonay are Barrel fermented I’ve tasted several vintages of this it’s Steely it’s minerally yeah it’s not
Too AER not lean sometimes sh that style of wine can be a little bit too mineral to a stare for people I think this wine has enough fruit it’s something that I highly recommend I think datom stands for a Japanese symbol got a great minimalist label if you can find this
Wine I think it’s well worth seeking out or anything from Brewer Clifton for that matter next up is a wine I highly recommend the Nica foyette this is the brute champagne Reserve exclusive non-vintage 39 bucks 91 points Nicola foyette is a Cooperative so it’s made up
Of a bunch of small Growers that pull their resources and then produce a wine under one single brand Nica foyette is still a very affordable champagne especially when the prices of champagne just keep Rising actually the January issue I think of wine spectator the actual paper Edition was talking about
Champagne just keeps rising in price this wine always does well in blind tastings I actually did a video with this where I used the Corin sparkling mine system to see how will preserve the champagne I highly recommend this especially that price number five also wine I highly recommend Castell de Vaya
Kean clco 2021 92 points 30 bucks kti classical normale I was just at this estate about a year and a half ago had dinner with Federica one of the owners castella de Vaya takes up the whole town of Vaya in Kean clco it’s really an amazing place if you can go there
There’s an austeria restaurant that’s worth checking out Vaya KY classicos have a touch more low in them so they’re a little bit softer a little rounder super approach able young the wines age pretty well too in the medium term you’re getting a classic producer for 30 bucks and sanesi a grape that I
Absolutely love if you’re all about pizza pastas with tomato sauce you got to check out this wine number four the four Graces P Noir willamet Valley 2021 92 points $30 in Oregon I used to prefer the PIR from Santa Barbara County more than the PIR from Willet Valley in
Oregon my mindset is kind of shifted I used to think that the under $25 range for PIR willat Valley absolutely killed it that’s a hard price to reach now because costs keep going up in fact I have an upcoming blind tasting video pinoir from Willet Valley in the $30
Range I think that’s you got to raise the bar a little bit I have not tasted this wine but I see it’s a blend from several different avas in the willat valley I have to be honest entry level pinoir willat Valley I’m seldom disappointed with sometimes I prefer
Them to the single Vineyard or the more reserved bottlings from producers especially if you like more earthy P Noir I’m really surprised not to see a Portuguese wine on the list cuz Portuguese wines offer insane value for money number three the rapor Springs sael Blanc marble Reserve 2022 93 points
19 bucks from New Zealand a gry boy SEL Blanc made the wine spectator normal top 10 list of the Year New Zealand SEL and Blanc in this 14 to 25 range I think you can’t go wrong this is a solid wine you also see Wines in that PR Point like the
Villa Mara seen Kim Crawford for like 15 bucks Maro is a really unique area in the South Island I’ve been there before it’s covered in Vines most of it is s Blanc you really got to like that explosive grassy limey kiwi type flavor when it comes to San Blanc don’t think
Mineral driven like those from the lir value for money 19 bucks New Zealand for years I don’t know if that’s still the case had the highest export price per bottle of wine of any country in the world a lot of people say how does that happen places like France Spain and
Italy most the wine sold is bulk wine or really inexpensive wine so that brings the cost per bottle down in New Zealand they don’t have that bulk wine they don’t have that quantity so they want to produce quality wines s Blanc dominates the market but if you’re selling at $10
To $15 export price it’s going to drive up the price just a little fun fact for you New Zealand Sav banc always pretty defendable number two the vas Felix Cabernet San Margaret River filus 20121 93 points from Margaret River Australia 28 bucks Australian Cabernet is great value for per one it’s usually softer
The tannins AR right but you get those nice fruit flavors I just wish they were more readily available this is a very nice producer they’re are number of excellent producers in Margaret River it’s just a hard time to find them I remember I think zenya if that’s the
Producer made a really nice Cabernet that was like a $20 Cabernet also some great ones if you go over the other side of Australia from Kuna wara I think that’s an area to look for and these are really distinctive Cabernet approachable easy to drink I know the producer is pretty good number
One M La Crea PIR Sonoma Coast 2021 91 points $28 it’s O I know a lot of people buy this one it’s okay it’s not my favorite pinoir in that price point for me the alternative is you want to go for obong clamat basic pinoir from Santa Barbara
County that used to be under 20 I think it’s under $25 now so it’s in a similar price point that’s worth checking out if you like L Crea buy it but I’m just not the biggest fan what do you think about the top 10 value wines of 2023 from wine
Spectator if you taste any of these wines drop it in the comments below

Great video
Tapiz is a nice malbec . If you can find a Malbec from Salta , north of Mendoza , you will find the concentration meeting freshness in a big wine that a lot of people like ! I would like to see your thoughts on a Salta Malbec ! Cheers !
Can you review the Wall Street journal wine top 15?
The La Crema as number 1 is a paid spot. That really shouldn’t be number 1.
La Crema is a total joke
I'm back!
Once again, nothing from Germany nor Washington State nor the Finger Lakes. Just saying. 🤔
I tried La Crema at Christmas. Up here in Canada it's a $40 bottle of wine and it was a big meh for me.
These best of lists really show the agendas and its players…..you either play (pay) according the rules or you are out… Portugal out of a value list is ridiculous to say the least. 😂…Im really in love with wine for a long time but the politics made me quit the business….just drinking now 😊😊
I’ve seen that Tarima Hill at my Costco…def gonna see if it’s the same one from this video.
Looking forward to that Pinto video!!!
LaCrema……underwhelming, especially at #1. Agree with you…where is Portugal? Also, I could find Gran Selezione’s in Tuscany for around $30. Rosso’s for $20-$25. They should be on this list, but I am probably a little biased.
It's will-LAM-it, dammit!
Doc, come on, you can’t tease me with a blind, Super Tuscan tasting! Ha ha. No, great stuff, but I will anxiously await the ST blind tasting next week. Holding you to it.
Nicolas Feuilette is pretty much my go to Champagne houses because it's not as pricey as other big houses yet the quality is up there. ( bought their 2012 grand cru, 2015 ( don't remember) Blanc de Blanc, and 2008 Palmes d'or. They don't break my bank and it's good to have around the house. I do agree Champagne prices just kept going up and up and up, it might get to a point where most of us will be looking for alternatives or small producers.
Fortunately, Margaret River wines is readily available in Singapore. Have tried the Filius but don't remember my opinion on it. Should pick up a bottle again and try it.
I agree with your comment about the La Crema and even with the discount price at Costco would not buy again. Have you tried the Hahn SLH Pinot…I thought that was good at about $20 a bottle on offer from various supermarkets.
I had some of them…Tapiz uses Jean Claude Berrouet as a consultant – I don't know if he consults for this particular line of wines, but I have a high end Merlot based Bordeaux blend called Las Notas de Jean Claude in my cellar, and I'm pretty excited about it. This Malbec is OK. Honestly, you can find way better value for Malbec in Mendoza, and I don't know why they decided to highlight this one specifically. Probably because of Berrouet.
I would love to hear your opinion on St. Cosme. I bought it some time ago after seeing it get a lot of love in the Wineking channel…and it disappointed me, which is weird because I love Syrah and I love CdR. I thought it was too acidic and too adstringent. Couldn't finish the bottle.
Vasse Felix, I had the Bordeaux blend and it was nice, though I wouldn't call it a good value in Brazil – where it goes for something like U$ 60. At this price point, I'd rather have a wine from Bordeaux.
I'm so caught up in wine at this point that – as you were talking about St Cosme and it cut to an old guy looking at a bottle, I instantly recognized it: it's Couly-Dutheil!!!
Nice video, as always…
The Saint-Cosme is $11 at Costco. A perennial rebuy for me.
Im with you on the La Crema. There are much better wines from other producers. Going to try a bottle of Cotes du Crow 2020 tonight. Where's your scarf? You need it today. Good video as always

The only one I've tried is, as you can guess, is the Volver Tarima Hill. I completely agree with you about the great value wines from Alicante and Jumilla. They are delicious and Big wines due to the hot climate. Unfortunately, I'm really concerned about the future of wine in those regions. The south of Spain is drying up and it is relentless.
Saint Cosme and Volpaia are outstanding value!
Imo saint cosme is too pricey compared to parallel 45, kermit lynch, or perrin family tbh
That glass on the table is one of my favourites, it's amazing
Agree, La Crema is very 1 dimensional & not very good. Brewer Clifton however is quality product & well worth the price.
Tasted La Crema several years ago. It was so bad that I used most of the bottle to marinate a pork loin. Maybe they got better since…
This is an entertaining video, but it reiterates the point that WS primarily serves the US market, with not a lot of diversity or exotic wines in their line-up. High altitude earthy Malbecs are very enjoyable; I tasted some at a wine fair last August and was surprised how great they were. To be fair it is a good guide of wines available in the States for reliable wines that are nice to drink, but won't break the bank. Cheers!
If you want to drink Pinot Noir at that price the only thing really to do is to head to Germany. Up to 40 USD you can get stunning Spätburgunder!
La Crema, like most Jackson Family wines, is mass produced swill. Avoid this product. It’s VERY coincidental that a Jackson wine made it to #1 – they are a very large advertiser in WS magazine.😂
Wow, I've actually had a couple of these! The Saint Cosme Cotes du Rhone is easy drinking, but I'd rather splurge a little and get their Gigondas or a CdP for the extra dimensions – when I can afford it! The Xanadu cab was one of my favorite discoveries last year, but I haven't been able to find it again. If I ever do, I'll break my rule of only buying one bottle at a time!
