Florence, Italy – Duomo & Cinque Terre

We are typically known for camping and outdoor adventures. However, we celebrated our 30-year anniversary with a trip to Venice, Florence, Rome, and even a 10-day cruise to many of the Greek islands. Goodbye Venice hello Florence hello Florence ready to go ready to go let’s go ciao ciao are you cold I figured you’re either doing the peeee dance or you’re cold I’m cold so now we know why everybody stand around looking at the boards is you’re waiting to find out

What platform your Train’s going to be on and ours leaves in 26 minutes and they still hav’t announce the platform okay we just got our platform number in the luck lucky number was number six there is our bullet train Virginia’s a little nervous to go 250 M hour in a train

But let’s see what it does all right so we found our car we were in the wrong car to begin with we put the luggage in the wrong car so we had to go back and get our luggage flip it around bring it up here we made it

But we made it we did it what an adventure the journey is part of the fun right yes it is we’re moving that’s it we have officially left Venice so youed to see in water humus humus this something or another let me get pistachio and some crackers and some

Crackers I we got doing at least 100 100 miles hour’s going to sleep thank you for traveling with all right we made it to Florence we’re here we just got off the train there’s our train here we are we’re here for 3 days yes let’s go have fun let’s

Go and we made it there it is now we just got to find our hotel I think it’s right around the corner there yep there it is Ah that’s it right there this is our hotel and that is our room in the top corner right there

That do of view we are in this little stairway and we got to get in this little tiny elevator oh my God this is scary your mother would have a heart go my mother would not get in this thing this looks like something out of a out of one of those horror

Movies it’s as white as my suitcase it’s a telephone booth it’s a telephone br oh God that’s creaky did you hear that oh you got to be kidding me you’re going first you can’t even get two people in here bye bye wow oh it’s making noises this is nuts close the doors close

This there it goes oh that’s just not right I made it that wasn’t scared you’re not afraid of heights that’s like out of a Hitchcock movie or something it’s beautiful look at this key fun key weird key man goes with the weird elevator All right it’s nice yeah cute even got a TV and best of all the view of the view of the D oh my go this W our view out our bedroom window oh SM look at that yeah we have tickets we’re going to climb up to the top of that tonight the

Top of the Dome over there we have a day a shower a shower and here what else you need in those funny plugs again all right I like it let’s unpack and go explore no we’re taking the stairs okay so we just arrived here in Florence Italy we got our bed and

Breakfast all set here we stand in front of the D and in about an hour we have tickets to climb all the way to the tippy top of that yes right there I don’t know if you can see it but there’s people way up there you climb all the

Way up the stairs all the way up the Dome and all the way to the tippy top up there it’s I forget 6 7800 steps I don’t know we’ll do the research if you know put it in the comments below but anywh who we’re going to do it yeah we try

Ciao by are you ready no you remember how many steps one too many it’s like 30 stories ready for this let’s go oh my God going we many 2 minutes in not even stair Master we to take it nothing to prove here you you let me know if I’m going too fast

For oh my well we can get some perspective perspective I’d see we’re about three stories we look at this wow wonder if we can get our money back at this point okay I don’t think we’re not even a quarter of the way there yet and that’s StairMaster torture are you okay

Especially those that are afraid of hides he was shaking the damn thing moves up there man do they Bon it didn’t unless it was my legs I think it was your legs I don’t recommend that for people that are afraid of heights or if you don’t do leg stair Masters on a

Daily basis on a daily basis my legs are on fire burning shivering shaking and I’m having a hard time standing up I need to find a bench I’ll be glad to take that rickety old elevator now done bedtime good night okay good morning guys it’s Friday day five and we’re here in Florence

Italy uh we got in yesterday and uh it was a late night and unfortunately we had to get up really early at like 4:30 we got up this morning cuz uh at 7:00 we got to catch a shuttle bus all the way to the West Coast of Italy we’re going

To which is the five little towns we’re tired man I don’t think we got about 4our sleep again we’re in a bed and breakfast here and there’s no coffee so we’re heading out to get coffee and then go meet our uh tour and uh jump on a bus

And drive all the way to the coast all right the Venture begins let’s go all right let’s go find our tour guide we got to go through that Arch and there should be a shuttle bus waiting for us okay so we found the hotel in the

Meeting spot now we’re on a venture we have 20 minutes let’s see if we can find a coffee We Came Upon This little Danish and I can smell coffee from outside we’re going in to get the pistachio and you’re going to get the what okay we found our coffee in Danish

And the van just pulled up right now perfect timing and I think we’re ready and we can go and we’re off ready ready the see and these mountains are the Tes of CH so we made it to uh one of the one of the towns of

Uh CH yeah and uh it’s cold it’s raining and uh it’s very steep of a hill first up hot coffee freezing in the restroom look at this okay so we made it to CH and we’re at our first stop I don’t know how to pronounce it Rio maiori something like

That I think I’m sorry if I hacked it up but this is absolutely Gorgeous [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] So here’s te today and it’s the five little cities towns we are currently in Rio maiori something like that we’re going to go from this one yep to I think cor yep by Train by train and then this one and then back down back down this is kind of interesting yeah

We’re walking in a tunnel under the mountain through the mountain to get to the train station I think it’s all tunnel here this is going to be our stop you weren’t kidding that was quick very Fast there’s a lot of trains and a lot of tunnels yeah and Rain make making lemons no making lemonade out of lemons hi babe unfortunately we’re getting rained out but we’re still taking in the beautiful view you can’t come here and not see it even if it’s raining we got

To go way out there to that corner don’t look down oh watch out for the puddle so yeah our feet are soaked oh well it’s part of the adventure sure beautiful [Applause] beautiful oh my goodness look at this R Tak up stairs go right down to the ocean down there too funny there’s a store here first Tomatoes now we’re going to get on another train and go to the next town we’re good right here this is our group we’re going through tunnels from

Town to town oh thank you all right now to the next town verata this is my favorite town it’s not wet oh look at this this is beautiful okay so I believe we’re in Vernia and uh it’s not raining Hallelujah looks like sun’s coming out

We have what uh almost almost 2 hours to go explore so uh we’re going to head on out and explore and check this out this is beautiful take a look at this guys I don’t I don’t know how old that church is but it is absolutely beautiful it is gorgeous medieval style Church on the on the ocean front Here Fritos we’re going to try some fried seafood shrimp sardines anchovies calore squid octopus oh my and french fries Virginia’s happy we’ve been looking for French fries the whole time we’ve been here okay so one of the things that is said you must try when in think today is

The fried seafood I like seafood Regina like seafood but this is a little different this is s though so we’re going to try a sardine go for it I’m trying zucchini never had sardine before little fishy try sardine no it’s not terrible no I see an octopus mhm oh this is hard

Honestly the octopus is fantastic just a little chewy try it out it’s really good you’ll like it no fish flavor at all it’s hot bite the tentacles really good it’s chewy you got to bite it but the flavor is nice very mild where vegetables and then we got the

Shrimp shrim no no no e I’ll like the shrimp if you take that thing off yeah yeah you break the head off P the I mean you could eat all of it I guess all right coming at you shrimp that looks like crap this is good all right now we’re going to

Try that I’ll try gamari octopus leg I like that that was good what else we got in here I do like the little octopus legs I all right as you can hear the Train’s going by man they got all kinds of little goody stuff in here it’s like

A box of chocolates you never know what you’re going to get what do you think one thumbs two thumbs one thumb you do it again shrimp I think I would but I’m really looking forward to more pasta in the Tuscany steak stand by we will do it

Sure oh what flavor did you get amario Amaro which is black cherry yum good gelato in the scenery what else could you ask for and I got strawberry and cream so here we are just strolling through Italy eating uh but of course gelato after dinner we’re heading up to

Meet the group so we can catch the train and we’re going to head back to the van which is at at the first little town and then from there we jump in and I think we’re about an hour and a half away and we’re going to P Pisa and we’re going to

Attempt to climb the Leaning Town Tower of Pisa I don’t know if my legs can handle it after we did the uh the Duma yesterday but we’re going to give it a try the sun come Out [Laughter] dang about pull you right in all right baby this one’s ours our last train today Yep okay on our way back to lasia R Mao I’m still hungry snacky yeah well make make way so we can get the steak Tonight Rony that was great thank you sir appreciate it that was awesome Guys front is even the leaning tower all right so we just arrived here in Pisa and I’m sure you can see right behind us there’s the leading Tower so uh we’re going to head on over there and see if we can uh climb it we only have

An hour so I’m not sure if we got tickets that’ll get us in there in time but we’re going to try so it is definitely leaning if you just look at the other buildings Got it is it heavy is it heavy your arms are getting tired I would imagine so unfortunately we’re not able to climb up into the tower uh we just don’t have enough time but uh hey we made it here’s the Leaning Tower pza we did our part to

Help it hold it up a little bit longer maybe next time but still real cool to see it it gives us a chance to come back but there it is the leading Tower of Pisa you know it’s amazing everybody focuses on the leading Tower of Pisa

Right here but this church next to it in the Doma is absolutely beautiful so Ron’s our tour guide here and he surprised us at the end of the tour and bought a bottle of bubbly to celebrate here we go we’re going to we’re going to pop it in pizza here it

Goes here’s the Ry all right salute we can’t see it through the Window so we just got back from um sink today and the Leaning Tower Pizza we came back to the room and decided we really hungry all we did was snack through the day start so we ordered the um famous Florent or Florence steak like 3 and2 lb of cooked goodness of a T-bone

I’ve been looking forward to this steak for like 6 months let’s give it a try bomic vinegar olive oil and we got the Capris salad with buffala cheese and while we’re sitting here we just heard him chop our steak it was like seven hits of a hammer Cho it was it really

Was chopping that big old can you hear that that’s in Cho it our steak salad delicious oh there it comes oh Yeahi that looks and smells Delicious I hear him chopping another steak side that’s your side oh my goodness this is the Florentine steak known Ines we’re digging in all right here’s the money shot Oh oh man it’s unexplainable unexplainable is that good that’s one of the best steaks I’ve ever tasted we’ve already put a good dent in it sal sal we made a great choice this steak is incredible fabulous so we got three tables around us eating the same thing and just all

Drooling so good Virginia’s working on cleaning that bone had to be 2 and2 lbs of meat of just goodness and we cleaned our plates what do you think best steak ever huh best steak ever best steak ever oh my goodness this is what we just ate there’s only one

Thing that you can eat after a great steak like that and that is gelato gelato and this comes with great recommendations done bedtime good night
