00:00 intro
01:18 the Eiffel Tower
06:45 KORUS

Hello, everyone, Today, I’d like to pick up where we left off last time and share how I spent my birthday in France. First, I finished touring the Palace of Versailles by 4 PM, and now I’m on my way to meet my student at the Eiffel Tower.

My Serbian student, Jelena, flew all the way to Paris to celebrate my birthday. It was truly touching. Actually, Jelena was passing by like this. (I am not sure that’s her…) (I think it’s really her) The very slim woman with the shopping bags… or is it not her? Let’s cross the street! Jelena! We embraced intensely right away. Jelena: So good to see you! Jelena: Happy birthday! Jelena, who is visiting Paris for the first time, came to see the Eiffel Tower! And we’re having a picnic on the Champ de Mars. Nayeon: Hello. Jelena: Hello. Nayeon: We met in Paris! …Huh? Nayeon: Nothing to do. Just smiling. (When editing, I’ll add background music and an intro-like feeling.. So just pretend to be happy!) Nayeon: If we smile like this, with background music.. like this.. Nayeon: We’re having a happy time. Like this~ (Saying whatever) Nayeon: Did you fly here?

Nayeon: When are you planning to visit Korea? Jelena: I don’t know. (And I have no idea what Nayeon is doing right now.) Do we look happy? Enough now! Cut! Nayeon: Jelena! I also prepared something. (Fumbling with my stuff ) Nayeon: A gift! Jelena: Oh, really? Nayeon: From Korea! Jelena: Thank you! Nayeon: Snacks and ramyeon. Nayeon: This is just.. Jelena: What’s this? Nayeon: I don’t know! Nayeon: But it says Fi-sh S-nack, haha. Nayeon: Marshmallows! Nayeon: But these are injeolmi-flavored…

Nayeon: Marshmallows and some powder.. Nayeon: Want to try them? Jelena: Right now! Nayeon: Oh, great! Nayeon: What’s this? Jelena: Oh! I get it! Nayeon: I don’t. I don’t know how we’re supposed to do this, but we’ll start by sprinkling some injeolmi powder. Nayeon: Oh, it smells nutty!

Nayeon: Is this kind of like honey? Or maybe starch syrup. Starch syrup. Nayeon: I don’t know! I’m trying it for the first time too! Nayeon: The marshmallow is all sticky! It’s stuck together! Nayeon: So, I coated it with injeolmi powder like this and… Nayeon: Seems like something went wrong! It seems ruined. Nayeon: It’s not tasty. Nayeon: It’s not delicious marshmallow. Nayeon: Is it okay? Jelena: I like it! Nayeon: Can I have a look too? Nayeon: Oh, it’s heavy! Jelena: This is!! Jelena: A travel book. Nayeon: A travel book? Nayeon: Awesome! Nayeon: Oh, it’s cute. Nayeon: Korean skincare? Hahaha Nayeon: It’s so pretty.

Nayeon: It’s so pretty, thank you. Nayeon: There are several books. There were various stickers related to different countries, a notebook to record past travels, maps, and other items. Nayeon: And there’s some stickers. Nayeon: It’s so cute! Nayeon: This is… Nayeon: A map! Nayeon: A really big map. Gaël: Where are we now? (Try to find France!)

Nayeon: Where we are right now? Nayeon: This is a map of Europe, right? Nayeon: We’re now… Nayeon: Romania… Nayeon: Italy. Gaël: Really? Can’t you find it? Nayeon: Turkey… Nayeon: No Paris here! Nayeon: Denmark… Nayeon: Is this Poland? Nayeon: Then it should be around here. ㅎㅎ Nayeon: France! Nayeon: What’s this? Nayeon: A cookie?

Nayeon: Did you make it? Nayeon: Amazing!!! Nayeon: A homemade cookie! Nayeon: What kind of cookie is it? Matcha. Nayeon: I like matcha. It’s the same color as the grass right now. Nayeon: Can I take a bite? Translation: Delicious! Translation: Really good! Nayeon: Delicious! Jelena: This is delicious, too. Nayeon: No, it’s not..

Still checking the presents… It seemed endless..ㅠㅠ It’s so touching. We crossed the Alexandre III Bridge and took a brief rest in my beloved Tuileries Garden before parting ways. It was lovely to meet you, Jelena! August 27, 2023. Four days before returning to Korea. On such a gloomy day,

Where do you think we are headed now? It looks like some quiet neighborhood restaurant. The neighborhood is really quiet right now. Where did everyone go? It doesn’t feel like we’re on our way to a famous restaurant right now. Something feels strange. The weather is also gloomy! Is that it?

We made it~ㅎㅎ Korus! Here is the Michelin-starred restaurant Korus in the Marais district of Paris! For the first time in my life, I’ve come to try a tasting menu.

I made a reservation in advance, and I remember that there’s a charge of 60 euros for a no-show. ㅎㄷㄷ.. (후덜덜(ㅎㄷㄷ) is internet slang which means shivering or trembling, and is often used to convey a feeling of being scared, nervous, or startled.)

There’re two menu options, 7 or 9 courses, and you can also add extras like caviar, cheese, or wine pairing. The 7-plate menu is 70 euros per person, and the 9-plate menu is 85 euros.

We decided to go for the 7-course menu. Since there are two of us, it will be around 200,000 won in Korean currency. This is my first time in such an upscale restaurant. I hope the food is delicious!

꿀꺽꿀꺽 ( kkulkkeokkkulkkeok ) A word imitating the sound or describing the motion of water or food repeatedly passing through a narrow throat or hole at once. Nayeon: What kind of water is this? Gaël: What kind of water? (What kind of question is that?) The first dish is here. Every time a dish was served, the staff explained it in French and English. Isn’t this cucumber? Cucumber? Cucumber pickled in lime and ginger juice. Moules marinières with tarragon oil Now, do we eat this? What is this? Quinoa chips with eel and pickled radish What did you say? It’s so crunchy! The mussels earlier were delicious, and this eel is tasty too.

But… (because it’s a taste combination I’ve never experienced before?) It’s hard to exactly describe what taste it is. A chèvre cheesecake with peanuts. Gaël: It’s spicy. Gaël: A little. It’s good. But it’s a little salty. The second dish is here.

Various pickled tomato dishes with rice vinegar, sweet red pepper, nuts, etc. Various types of tomatoes… Can you eat this flower too? Like this, with crushed ice. Gaël: This is incredibly delicious. It smells good. Fragrant. Gaël: The bread is also tasty. I know, right?

Can you imagine the harmony of fragrant aroma, cold crushed ice, the nutty taste, and the sweet and tangy flavor of tomatoes? Truly refreshing and a bit cool, like a summer menu! To put it simply, it was really good! The third dish is here! Fried corn with chives

Should I eat this first? Or with the sauce? (The white sauce is mozzarella cheese mousse, and the sauce in the middle is a Mediterranean sauce made with garlic and olive oil!) I don’t know what it is. I just don’t know how to describe the taste. It’s very interesting, though. An interesting taste, yes.

Delicious! The sweet corn isn’t too sweet… Just delicious. The fourth dish is here! Fish steak with artichokes and various oils Is this fish? It looks really delicious! It seems like a lot of effort went into this. Is this oil? Various kinds of oil! Wow, it looks so good. Wow, it smells good!

I don’t really like fish but… The cream is really delicious. The sauce is really good. It’s a little sweet! I’ll show you up close! The colors are beautiful, too…

Ah… luminous, it’s dazzling. *”영롱” (yeongrong) is a Korean word that can be translated to “bright,” “radiant,” or “luminous” in English. It is often used to describe something shining or glowing with a vivid and brilliant light. In the context you provided, “아.. 영롱..그 자체..” seems to express a sense of awe or admiration, suggesting that something is so bright and dazzling that it captures attention or admiration.

I thought this fish steak was the best dish we had all night. The fifth dish is here. Various plum sherbets and lemon jelly It’s so refreshing! It’s been a while since I’ve tasted lemon! I love it. * Amazing expression alert * We’re currently waiting for the second dessert.

The first course came out around 7:15, and now it’s exactly 8:15. Time passes faster than I thought~ The food keeps changing, and the portions aren’t big, so I eat quickly. So, I thought it’s been about 30 minutes, but.. But it’s kind of fun to be made to wait. It creates anticipation.

The sixth dish is here! Figs, yogurt mousse, and hazelnut sponge cake Is this raspberry… raspberry jam? This one looks like a cookie? It’s a bit like meringue, right? Such a big plate for such a small dessert! How should I eat this? Should I dip it in here (yogurt mousse)?

This tastes maybe like a sweet dessert bread… (It feels a little… ordinary?) Dipping the fig in the yogurt mousse and taking a big bite! The last dish is here! Blueberry tart Let’s try the blueberry tart first! I think it’s brownie. Yeah, it tastes like dessert. (It’s nothing extraordinary.)

But I wish they’d given us a fork. Praliné chocolate So strong. I don’t know why, I don’t know why, but why does it taste a bit like gochujang? Or maybe ssamjang? (Covered in chocolate ;;) It’s so intense, and there’s something like sesame? It feels like there’s something crunchy in it. It’s so rich!

I have high expectations for this coffee cream! This is the best! This one is so good. It has a dark chocolate feel with coffee cream. Our meal is finished! It came out to 140 euros! We’re done and now it’s 8:48 PM. (Meal duration: approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes) I enjoyed it!

How was the food? Was it good? It was very good! Anyway, something like this for me… It’s my first time having such an expensive meal, and actually, it’s my first time trying a course menu. Even though I tend to avoid trying new dishes or eating unfamiliar food,

It was really fun. And delicious. The plating was quite beautiful, and the flavors were not too overpowering or too intense— just something that everyone could enjoy! (Highly recommended!) The end of a fun experience in Paris! :> Thank you for joining me!
