Hi and welcome to this week’s edition of the Las Vegas advisor weekly update with Anthony and Andrew today is Friday April 21st 2023 and we got some big sporting news in Las Vegas once again another another pro team coming to Vegas that’s right uh we’ve been talking about it for

A long time now but the Oakland A’s have will soon be the well not soon but they will become the Las Vegas A’s Athletics that’s right the Las Vegas Athletics this is big for Vegas big for baseball but they’ve been talking about this for a while yeah well you know it all began

With the golden knights and hockey and then the Raiders and you know now Oakland A’s so the only thing left is basketball okay you know we’ve got all these other things like uh you know the women’s pro league basketball and we’ve got a uh Lacrosse League here now and you know

They just they just keep coming but we got three of the four Majors all right this is really exciting yeah there’s um here’s here’s the information on it uh committed to a one billion dollar 35 000 seat baseball stadium with a retractable roof this can be built on

100 Acre Site that was the Wild Wild West oh yeah Tropicana and uh and just west of I-15 they hope to start building before the end of this year with an anticipated move to Vegas for the 2027 season okay so a little ways away here but uh you know quite an undertaking

Yeah well I mean you know I think this is going to be I’m not happy about it because they’re building it over there on Tropicana and we wanted them to build it at the Rio right across from cross from the office you know uh so that was

A little bit of a bummer when I got the news but you know overall it’s going to be good for the city I’m sure that you know baseball tickets tend to be a lot less than than hockey or or football right so I think it’s going to be you

Know a lot more games uh it’ll open it up to a lot of more people to you know to to experience this sort of thing I’m worried about traffic yeah they’re all going to be over there yeah they’re going to be there oh they’re in the same

Area right now it’s Tropicana yeah and of course they’re you know they’re not going to be doing things at the same time but there could be a concert at Allegiant at the same time there’s a there’s a hockey game or the same time that there’s a a baseball game you know

What I mean it’s like it’s going to be brutal over there right now what’s going to happen to our favorite uh gas station our favorite uh Wild Wild West Truck Plaza right across the street oh no I just went there over the weekend got gas all right so they’re still there but uh

Still some of the cheapest in town yeah okay still still good yeah check one of our old videos right right way back in the beginning maybe the first 10 we ever did I’ll put a link to that in the description box but yeah we talk about

Uh good gas play where you can get some cheap gas right maybe not the cheapest in town but pretty cheap yeah so everybody’s talking about the A’s and what’s next and uh you know we’ll keep everybody informed as we hear things now also part of this whole thing is that

The Wild Wild West has been demolished the casino I didn’t even know it I mean this was before last week just before early this week excuse me just before the announcement about the A’s coming I drove by there and I just said what’s what just happened you know there’s

There’s no more building here the Wild Wild West was gone yeah you know knocked down it was already knocked down and all the rubble was removed and I mean they obviously knew that this was coming down the pike and they they said let’s get started and knock this thing off and

That’s what they did and this is the stations group that’s knocking everything down yeah well not all not everything I mean it’s not the only thing there’s a wild wild west is now gone they’ve already started demolition now on the Fiesta Rancho Fiesta Henderson is gone completely already it

Just looks like a giant parking lot now yep and it’s in Rancho soon will be the same and then also on the Strip the Hawaiian Marketplace has been all the buildings there have been raised so you know they’re knocking things down everywhere they’re knocking things down

All over town yeah and uh it’s gonna re-emerge I’m really excited to to see it rise like the Phoenix especially at that Hawaiian Marketplace I mean what a great uh location yeah well that’s going to be some kind you know it was it was restaurant in retail

When it was a Marketplace and it’s going to be restaurant and retail again but right next to it it’s going to be almost in tandem with uh the for the Tillman Fertitta right Resort that’s going up you know just a little bit north of there on the Strip all right well uh

We’ll keep you posted on it yep all right and in entertainment news coming from the win we have uh Awakening pauses again second time second time yeah you know this is uh very odd you know I’ve seen a lot of shows come and go here uh Awakening was supposed to be a really

Big deal it’s a good show you know I went on opening night and uh for the press and it was it’s a great show in terms of all the the spectacle and things that are going on but people are having a hard time it’s funny I walked

Out of there uh with the person I went with and I said I didn’t get it I didn’t understand the story I didn’t follow it right and uh apparently that’s the problem is that people the audience is not connecting and um you know here’s what they said on this one they released

A statement that said when Las Vegas says it’s a temporary pause to allow for an extended rehearsal period right all right and Ticketmaster shows that seats will be available again starting June 6th so you know it’s going to be a month and a half here that they’re going to go

Back into rehearsals and try to bring this thing back again all right guys you know what you need to do you need to hire JJ Abrams okay you let him sit in the audience okay and let them rewrite it for you okay he’s done great with

Star Trek just let him do it okay I was gonna say who that who that yeah no you’ve done you’ve put enough money into this thing just hire JJ Abrams you might as well okay all right so speaking of pauses uh should gamblers take a pause

Now what do you think about this going on Anthony well this is a real thing um in Australia they’ve got proposed legislation that will require anybody who’s played three continuous hours to take a 15-minute break they’ll make them they’ll make them stop and there’s more um if they’ve gambled for 12 hours or

More in a 24-hour period they have to stop and leave for 24 hours before they come back and then finally a maximum of 36 hours in a given week they’d be allowed to play I don’t know man I mean and it’s it’s this is in Australia yeah I’ve heard

Talk about this in the United States yeah how do you police this I don’t know how they police it yeah and I don’t even know I guess it’s good you know it is good on one level for sure you know I mean the more you play the more you’re going to

Lose over time that’s right it’s a negative expectation game yeah they’re trying to you know they’re trying to protect people and and pausing is always good you know um I used to have a girlfriend who loved playing video poker and Seed players to tell her you play

Like your hair is on fire your hair’s not on fire you know I mean you don’t have to play so fast yeah and so after a while I’d look over at her and she’d be just sitting there in front of the machine doing nothing and I go I go what

Are you doing she goes Anthony says I have to take a break that’s right sometimes you gotta take a break I don’t know if that’s what it was it’s almost like she was mad but she was actually following the advice she goes Anthony says I have to take a break sometimes

It’s worth it to just check your phone call your mom tell her you love her uh sometimes I walk from one game to all the way on the other side of the casino just to you know take a little time yeah well here’s another thing my grandma

Used to love to play the slots and she goes if I’m losing at a slot should I move to another one now the no the reality is it doesn’t matter right she’s playing the same slots it’s the same slot you know one’s not luckier than another but I would say yes you should

Move because it takes time to move and you’re not playing right so you know part of this I think is really good another part of it is I just don’t see how they’re going to enforce it and I just don’t see how they’re going to get away with it you know there’s another

Thing about smoking when people say okay if you’ve got a smoke outside the casino that’s a good thing because now you’re taking a break right right you’re taking a break from playing yeah and you know I’ve always said you know speed kills and you know volume kills when it comes

To gambling so it’s it’s a good idea it’s it under the surface but I just don’t see how it’s going to happen it’s tough also because it’s only you know from my perspective it’s like you know myself included there’s a large variety of gamblers that don’t feel like there’s

An issue it’s fun it’s a way to relax it’s a fun way to be social and you know there’s a small percentage of the people who take it too far and maybe you know uh lose too much well it’s going to be interesting to see how does it affect

Advantage players yeah guys who guys and girls who actually have an edge when they’re playing yeah you know I mean it’s just in Australia right now but if this were to become worldwide or come to the United States it’s kind of taken away their livelihood you know they

Can’t sit there and play the way they they grind it out yeah that’s right A lot of people like to sit there and play for for hours that’s part of the vacation yeah so we’ll see what happens we’ll watch it in Australia all right Anthony it is Stanley Cup season uh and

People are wondering uh can the golden knights do it I’m sure they can do it you know I mean they almost did it in their first year that’s right they did they can they can do it but they’re not favored to do it right now they’re plus 1800 meaning they’re 18-1 against okay

And part of that is because they dropped their first game at home so they got they got shellacked actually by Winnipeg so they dropped all the way down to 18 to one there are seven teams with lower odds and the favorite is the Boston

Bruins at plus 200 so you can bet 100 to win 200 on the Bruins who had an epic record setting season you know with what they did so Bruins are the favorite uh Golden Knights of the long shots as of now okay 18 to one that’s uh you know if

You believe in the knights it’s a kind of a fun thing to do it’ll be a Payday yeah put 100 bucks on it all right thank you guys for your comments last week when we were talking about some of the best Italian places in town Manja Manja Manja yeah

Uh those were some great suggestions well the people have eaten at a lot of different places yeah you know and I mean I know most of these places I’ve eaten at almost all of them and um and I agree you know a lot of these are really

Good here’s here’s what they came up with the bootlegger on Las Vegas Boulevard which is you know just south of the end of the strip uh Bootleggers been around for a long time fun place man I mean you know good good Italian food they have a sign up bonus there too

I think they do I think Play 50 get 50. I believe it’s pretty good um a few people said Casa de Amore which is way out on East Tropicana this is a real old-time joint a little expensive okay I mean it’s it’s last time I ate

There and this was a few years ago I was like you know it’s a little bit pricey but it’s a great place and great food okay and or you can set up at the bar there and play video poker and you know that’s always a plus for me order up you

Don’t have to go crazy right um Dom DeMarcos on West Charleston real interesting place they got a really good happy hour there they’ve got terrific pizza and actually when Obama was President uh when he came to town they ordered they famously ordered pizza from Dom DeMarcos really yeah all right so

It’s a it’s a good place good happening Happy Hour as I said another place called monzu on West Flamingo which is right next to Nora so we talked about Norris as being one of the best places manzu is also kind of like a fancy pizza place

A couple that I’d add to it that I didn’t mention Chicago Joe’s downtown which is a um it’s like a house in a residential area that’s been turned into a restaurant so there’s like a whole bunch of like these houses that are um attorney’s offices and then Chicago

Joe’s oh wow which is which is fun that’s pretty cool and then one place that’s uh that one of the players we’re going to talk about in a minute at Downtown Grand uh told me about yesterday that I that I have not been to it’s called dagostino’s Trattoria okay

And that’s up on Buffalo on the west side and apparently he says it’s got tremendous food uh really good prices apparently the chef there bought out the former owners and it’s like making it a big deal okay that’s pretty cool also two in the casinos okay one person wrote

Scarpetta at Cosmo Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas he says it’s better than the ones we named he says it’s high-end like those but that was Breeze at resource world and Carbone at uh Aria well nothing at Cosmos cheap no no so it is yeah it is kind of a high-end place but

The other one Tuscany Garden Tuscany and there’s a you know there’s one that a lot of people might not consider I like it yeah Tuscany is a great place I mean it’s a fun place to hang out they’ve got really good Lounge shows and things but

This place Tuscany Garden I agree is a very good Italian uh Value Place in a casino definitely Anthony and you know what else um the casino is very welcoming it’s small it’s clean and it’s a great location free parking yeah exactly and you had one what’s the one you liked oh

Uh I always say that if you’re in Vegas in Henderson check out gaetanos uh it’s fantastic Italian food uh they had one in Calabasas in Los Angeles where I’m from and then they got one out here on Eastern so if you get a chance gaetanos is fantastic I haven’t been there yet

All right I will be we’re gonna get you there all right you know what Andrew it seems like everybody likes when we talk about these different kinds of places so I think we’re gonna we’re gonna do a little bit more of this like you know maybe best sushi or best Chinese or or

Best you know whatever Greek you know in the future all right so in lieu of our jackpot of the week we are going to be talking about the downtown Grand mini Blackjack tournament that Anthony competed in yesterday yes and the reason is because it’s basically kind of a uh a

Warning okay all right because I gave somebody some bad advice um we had somebody come to the office and asked said he wanted to go play and said can I use my basic strategy chart yes and I said I don’t see why not you know I’ve played hundreds of these

Things and I’ve never heard anybody complain about anybody having one although I haven’t seen it very often and we’ll talk about this in a second I told him it’s not going to help you in a tournament but anyway on on what I on my information he played in the tournament

Won his table to advance and then the customers complained that he had a basic strategy chart and it’s just a base a base strategy card telling you uh when to hit split right right but they said the problem is they have a rule there that says no coaching okay

And so they said this is like coaching because he’s using a card and the you know the bosses there who are running it did what they needed to do and they disqualified them okay and I felt really bad and I tried to stand up for him and

They ended up giving him his money back which I think was a really cool thing to do well sure because I don’t even know if you use the basic strategy you know here’s the thing in a tournament you don’t play basic strategy right you play tournament strategy yeah and I can give

You a perfect example I mean one of the the rounds I played I had a hard 18 a dealer had a five now basic strategy absolutely says you stand with an 18 against a five yes but it was the last hand of the tournament and I was behind

One guy who also had an 18. so I had to hit it if I stand on the 18 we have the same results I Lose I’m 100 to lose so I had to hit it how does the basic strategy chart help me there so not at all the fact is the people who

Complained didn’t really understand what they were talking they were saying coaching coaching coaching and it really wasn’t fair but but you know the um the the guys running the tournament there did a good job and you know made people happy even the guy who got his money

Back but don’t bring a basic strategy chart to a tournament okay don’t bring a knife to a gunfight don’t bring a right right no well you can learn it you can just sit there and memorize it it is it is like bringing a knife to a gunfight

If you’re going to play basic strategy in a tournament but I mean it just doesn’t help you right um card counting doesn’t even help you to be honest but it does help you to know the right move and what you should do and it helps it

Helps you to know how to play Blackjack so you don’t look like a goof right but it doesn’t help you win the tournament like this is what I’m saying right because it’s just like the situation that you talked about last week too where you bet last and you were able to

Keep the chips on the table right tournament strategy trumps everything in a tournament I mean you could make a tournament out of tiddlywinks yeah and there’d be a strategy and you know a basic strategy tiddlywinks card wouldn’t help you one thing Andrew I want to say

Is it’s wild how many people who are viewers here are coming to that tournament that’s awesome I mean I must have talked to a dozen people yesterday who said they saw it on YouTube and half of them more than half of them I’d say three quarters of them were playing and

The others were just watching and wanted to talk afterwards which is great yeah and it’s just a lot of fun you know so now I go play the tournament I talk to a whole bunch of our our people and viewers some of them told that one of

The guys told me about one of the Italian restaurants okay and it’s really great the way you know everybody’s following the advice and doing things that I keep telling them well our job is to find fun things for you yeah so that’s what we’re doing it’s Community Building exactly and you’re getting

Noticed you know what I got noticed last night I was playing keno and uh this really nice couple celebrating their 60th birthday from the UK and they were viewers from the UK lots of our viewers are local uh from Nevada or California but uh this was really cool uh because

They recognized me playing and uh they stopped and said hello and they’re from the UK it’s funny The Branding they always look at me and they go aren’t you Anthony and Andrew that’s funny well yeah they always ask me where Anthony is I go where’s Anthony
