In recent years, Hong Kong has become increasingly sensitive to the culture of good wine, especially italian wines. Not only because the country has a very easy tax-import policies, but also because, thanks to government initiatives and the work of local businesses, wines are now available very easily among the Chinese restaurants of Hong Kong and among the shelves of its supermarkets.
After more than three years I return to Hong Kong visiting friends, collaborators and business partners. In this video I show a series of places where you can drink good Italian wine in Hong Kong. Among those tasted I report:
Siopè Doc Cilento Aglianico Bio – Luigi Maffini: an intense ruby red wine, Siopé ages well in the bottle. Elegant and powerful, the full flavor of this wine is distinguished by the blend of spicy notes accompanied by the aroma of small berries.
Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG – Castell’in Villa: red wine with an intense and fruity aroma, with some spicy and forest notes. Produced with 100% Sangiovese grapes.
Amarone della Valpolicella – Roccolo Grassi: Elegant, complex and full-bodied wine. Red fruits, cherries and aromatic herbs are presented first to the nose and then to the taste, involving all the senses during the tasting.
Etna Rosso – Graci: Red wine produced with Nerello Mascalese grapes, famous for being grown on the sandy volcanic soils of the northern slope of Etna. Pleasant to the nose and to the taste for its floral and fruity notes.
Rot Mitterberg IGT – LUIS: Fruity wine, with notes of lilac, almond and cherry. Produced in South Tyrol, the predominant grape is the Schiava.
Wines from Thomas Niedermayr: wines made by PIWI grapes. New frontier in Wine production philosophy.
