  1. All those goofy rich people with more money than they knew what to do with acting like as*hats on the deck. I could have been happy just with a book on a comfy chair in a quiet, shaded spot on the side of the ship.

  2. i'm saving my money for the biggest and brightest white star lines has to offer 🙂
i hear it'll be so large it won't need engines to cross the atlantic. you just board on one end and disembark on the other!
[the walk along the promenade can be a bit of an stroll though…. 😉 pity the porter]

  3. I lived and worked on the QE2 from 1994 through 1998. Lots of errors are mentioned here, but I will refute just one: The QE2 is mentioned as the fastest ocean liner in the world early in this video. In fact that distinction goes to the USS United States, which to this very day holds the Blue Riband for shortest crossing of the Atlantic even after 60 years. The USS United States can be seen docked in Philadelphia.

  4. I took the qe2 from new york to southampton when i was 8 back in 1986. To this day id still rather do that than fly.

That being said we hit a north atlantic storm that rocked even that ship to the point where for a day most people stayed in their cabins. It was eild watching the water slosh out of the indoor pool.

  5. QE2 is not the largest passenger ship afloat nor is it anywhere close to the fastest. Don't make videos if you are not going to do the homework!

  6. Proud to come from the river that gave the town the QE2, Queen Mary, Lusitania, Aquitania, Queen Elizabeth, and countless others.

  7. Very interesting dokumentary 😊 But please turn down the volume of the music when speaking, it makes it very hard to hear and understand.

  8. Not a bad old-school documentary all things considered. Would have been wonderful to experience the old liners in their heyday.

  9. My Parents rode on the QE2 when her companion ship, rode with her on it's last trip. The QE2 went through the Panama Canal during that Trip and was met with fanfare when it arrived in San Franscisco. Incredible Ship, Meals and Dance. Nothing like today's plastic MALL ships.

  10. Difference between me and the rich?
I could not possibly enjoy a luxury cruise knowing there were people slaving in the engine room shoveling coal.
It bothers me to see horses drawing carriages. I picture a world where hard labor is left to machines.

  11. 🏃Walking. The big ships, you walk for miles (exaggerating but not much ! ) from your stateroom to activities, food, the pool ! Take what you need for the day and don't plan to return ha ! I actually did,.bathing suit, towel (not hefty you don't need it, shop for lightweight) etc in a canvas shoulder bag, NOT hand held, take with on side tours, good advice, I'd take it. Returned to change for dinner. A sea of humanity 🤣 watching people eat our favorite pastime, as though they've never seen food before or it's their last meal, 8 times a day 🐖 buffets, like locusts 😁start at one end, gone. Accommodations lovely, staff wonderful, passengers often pompous or too friendly, as though uncomfortable with travel and don't know how to behave or really impressed with themselves. Been on the best, take small liners if you desire peace, relaxation, pampering. My father took us all, as adults once a year, our consensus. Pack light, have fun !

  12. I miss good documentaries like this older one… With a proper narrator (Patrick Allen, such a voice!), and narrative!!! Non-judgemental , just a good documentary!!
