A Taste of Italy in Korea!? We Eat CREAMY Gnocchi at Grazie!

We check out Grazie, the BEST Italian Restaurant in all of South Korea! This is the home of delicious, CREAMY Gnocchi, Salad, and other Pasta. Gnocchi is a rarity here in South Korea. There are very few restaurants that attempt the delicate preparation methods for this dish. Grazie has the most delicious gnocchi we’ve had anywhere in the world. They’re also experimenting with local flavors to create new classic dishes with a twist!

The meal starts with a “Welcome Drink” that Kimchi says tastes, “Graple.” There’s also some tiny pieces of toast that you can finger with sun-dried tomatoes, cheese, and a dash of olive oil on top.

For our insalata, we went with the Bocconcini Salad, which is a salad mixed with greens & bitters, covered in grated Parmesan, and features tiny balls of mozzarella. The dressing was a balsamic with an infusion of kumquat that gave it a sweet, bitter, orange flavor.

We went with two different main dishes. We decided to try something different in place of our all time fav Classic Gnocchi. This time, we ordered a “Danhobak” Gnocchi or (Kabocha) Squash Gnocchi. Squash is a commonly used local ingredient in Korea, so it just made perfect sense to pair the two. It was slightly sweet, rich, and bursting with the flavor of squash and perfectly cooked gnocchi. The other dish was the “Tong” Bacon Cream Pasta. We decided the best explanation for this dish is not bacon, but ham. It was an ultra-creamy sauce with fettuccini noodles and a slab of ham on top!

Of course, no meal would be complete without some form of alcoholic beverage for Kimchi! She got a nice, pre-packaged or pre-cupped Chardonnay from Australia.

If you’re looking to eat at Grazie, you’re going to need that taxi, unless you’re ready to do some serious hiking. It’s not the easiest location to get to in Yeongdo, but it’s WORTH IT! You will wind through a literal roller coaster of ups & downs to get there. Check out the link below for the location.
