In this video I react and TASTE the top 10 wines from Wine Spectator’s Top 100 list of 2023. Surprisingly, just a few hours after the reveal, some of the Top 10 wines were no longer available in wine shops. To my knowledge, no other wine publication has the ability to clear shelves so quickly with their gold and platinum medals. So I was really curious to taste these wines myself.

  1. Definitely, too much attention to a subjective opinion of a wine magazine. Already the third week in a row each wine youtuber has nothing else to talk about. Why nobody reacts, for example, to Decanter World Wine Awards?

  2. Personally, glad to see my top 2 (by a mile) wine YouTubers look at same topic (you, and a certain German). Great insightful comments as ever – thank you.

  3. Another great presentation!

The WineSpectator Top 100 always produces several mysterious and controversial rankings. It is very helpful to have a highly knowledgeable and experienced wine authority such as yourself parse through these choices with critical approach and honest assessment.

I for one greatly appreciate the analysis you have provided in this and your previous video – especially with regard to WineSpectator’s more suspect choices. 👍🍷🥂

  4. I just watch yours, K Baums and Dr Horkey WINE SPECTATORs videos back to back. Loved to compare your notes. So I don't mind at all, your video ist "late" 😆

  5. I don’t know much about the topic of wine publications, but this year’s top ten makes me feel like some of those wineries sponsored Wine Spectator (especially for the #1 and #9 spots) to get a favorable placement on the top 100. What do you think?

  6. whole concept of this list seems to be, dare I say, little stupid… making list of top wines and considering how available and how cheap they are is redundant. first of all, prices of all these wines will increase because of this list and secondly, idea of any wine list should be discover and experience something new and amazing, not a wine guide for aldi😅

  7. The Dunn Vineyards Howell Mountain cabernet was one of the three bottles that got me interested in wine almost 15 years ago. Was a hard bottle to get a hold of before (even in California), probably going to almost impossible now😢. Their Napa valley release is also good, but just not the same.

  8. I thought we were promoting wine drinking here, not cannibalism. Agnese throwing down the gauntlet. What a moment. I score it 9.8. The moment, not the wine 😅

  9. No offense to our other wine YouTuber friends, but I enjoyed your take on the Top 100 most. I love your honesty, expertise and overall vibe. Don't listen to the haters! Your videos are so good.

  10. For wine #3 you have written Italy. I don't think the French like to see that, so correct it asap😀

  11. Definitely should have had more white wines in the top ten. If you think about it: picture 95+ points reds and they will be similar in taste profiles If I were to task anyone to picture 95+ whites you will get a smorgasbord of styles, regions, sweetness, acidity, length and complexity.

  12. Among your absolute best videos. The honest and genuine evaluations of both extraordinary wines and some that are less so inspire confidence. Thank you!

  13. Hi there! love your videos and this reaction on the spectator list. 😊 Just wondering why you are not using the 100 point scoring ?

  14. The only wine ive had from Lynch Bages is called Echo. Also a Pauillac. My local Costco was selling it for $30 plus tax. I snagged a bottle and it was amazing.

  15. You had me with your Alice Cooper t-shirt!! Interesting you gave the Pichon Baron your highest score by far even though you didn't think it's ready to drink yet. Cheers for West Sonoma Coast Pinot.

  16. Marlborough is not a valley. It is a flat plain leading from the ocean to the mountains. There are some valleys as the plain approaches the mountains (or hills really) such as the Awatere Valley. Otherwise Marlborough is as much a valley as the Medoc is. – From a fan of yours from New Zealand.

  17. Such a weird list. One the one hand side countries like Austria and Germany are shockingly under-represented , and on the otherhand it includes Kaufland / Aldi middle shelf Mionetto prosecco.
Sound to me more like an "US importer sales boost TOP 100"

  18. Discoverd your channel just today and already have seen bunch of your videos , loved it , subscribed , exellent presentation , keep doing it, only one question , why only 15k subscribers , it should be at least ten times more .
By the way, you are very beautiful .❤

  19. I went to a big Bordeaux tasting for the 2020 vintage this year and the Lynch-Bages and Pichon Lalande were the two most memorable for me.

The Lynch-Bages was tremendously dense, dark, and rich with a texture that was like cream.

The Pichon Lalande was my wine of the night, just incredible and so balanced already in its youth.

  20. Another very nice vid, lots of energy, description, and opinion, which we appreciate. Good on you to call out Lynch Bages if you feel it's not so highly rated. Well done!

  21. seriously, argiano top wine? can't take this WS thing seriously. yeah i don't get the hype on lynch-bages either

  22. I'm also not a fan of Lynch Bages, and found them being mediocre PQR. However, the scoring in this video seems all over the places, and contradicting your own narrative. 9/10 at the top is fully deserved, while its like second lowest scoring on your list?

  23. A thumbs up for opening the Pichon Baron and Lynch Bages. I remember in 2007, out of curiosity, opening a 2000 Lynch Bages. It was like drinking black ink! Currently I have 2015 Lynch Bages and 2018 Pichon Baron cruising in the cellar. Great video.

  24. This WS list is really an absolute joke this year. Just look at the top 3 wines. There are so many better Bordeaux than Lynch Bages (even around the price point of $200). As far as Sonoma Coast Pinots, the Occidental wouldn't even make my top 10. And while I love Brunello and am glad to see representation, the Agiano has never risen to the top of any of the many Brunello tastings in which I've participated. It's a mid-level Brunello. There are so many so much better. WS is doing the consumer a diservice by inflating prices of undeserving wines, and in doing so ultimately hurting these regions by misaligning expectations with experience.

  25. Agnes…bravo! Love your videos. And love that you have the greatest collection of rock and roll T’s! How can I purchase a Wine Sediment T?
