Our whole family has always gotten together 2 weeks before Christmas to make this recipe, it has been in my family for longer then i have been alive. This is the best soup i have ever had, and i have never met anyone that did not love it. It was handed down from my Italian grandmother Marie Diorio. Before they came to America the name was changed twice it used to be Di ioreo, and before that it was Di Lorio. This recipe goes back to Abruzzo Italy. I am sure it has changed a little over the years you can use fresh herbs if you like but for the last 40 years we always made it like this due to using what you have readily available.
