To make docking easier for you and avoid having to jump onto the pontoon/dock learn how to do a two handed lasso onto the dock cleat, ideally at midship. But DO NOT ever try to stop the yacht this way as that's the captain's responsibility. Also, if you must jump then only do so when the yacht has come to a complete stop. Much too dangerous otherwise! 😘

Amber, being a little nervous about docking is probably better than getting complacent. It just means you want to get it right. As a fellow pilot I’m sure Shawn will tell you it’s right when you get too relaxed that errors and mishaps happen and humble you. Another great video! Nice mix of boating, scenery, tour guiding, and personal flair! Thanks for sharing.

Watching from Australia. My wife and I are looking to get into sailing as we near retirement. We’d be interested in possibly hearing about the costs you are incurring for the various Marina stays along the way. When tieing up bow to the wharf are they charging you on your beam width or do you get charged on length? Maybe even a weekly or monthly break down of costs as you go along to help those of us still “researching” to get a rough idea of budgets.
Just a thought as the info would be great to hear.
