  1. 2020 Pichon Baron is an amazing bottle. I was at the Chateau this year and tasted the 2011, 2016 and 2021-2022. These were just amazing wines. The 2011 was the most surprising, maybe it was the age but the 2011 was showing the best for an off vintage compared to the other powerhouses we tasted.

  2. I love pauillac Mmmm i would love to do one of this list some year i think the best wine we taste this year was Dominio de Calogia Cuvee S 2019 or maybe Termanthia 2015 would love to taste more high end super wines but they are so expensive…. T_T

  3. WS top 100 is always pretty boring because a large part of their ratings are availability and affordability, specific to the US market. The only one of the top 10 I've had recently was the Raen and it was pretty underwhelming. Blah.

  4. No Riesling, from anywhere? Nothing from the Finger Lakes? Not even something from Washington State?? Pure poop!

  5. Marchese Antinori La Braccesca Achelo 2019 was on sale (21.95 CAD)and wow caught me off guard, loved it! Bought 2 and wanted a case but all sold out. Cakebread Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon (yum yum but pricey). Brancaia Riserva Chianti Classico 2018 👍and when Renato Ratti Marcenasco Barolo 2018 finally became available again (only 10 bottles on clearance) I bought them all. Just to name a few 🙂🍷cheers!

  6. I was so glad to see a Taurasi make it in the top ten spot as well as a NZ Sauvignon Blanc. Big fan of both.

  7. With WS it's Top 10 or 100 list is usually pretty generic and "safe". We can't expect to see wines from Greece, Germany, Eastern Europe or anything too "exotic". I suppose with a Taurasi Riserva and a Marlborough SB they are being more flexible and open minded than in previous years. It was nice to see a variety of US PNs at semi-affordable price points.

Wines that stood out this year to me: Cesari Bosan Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva 2013; Abbazia di Novacella "Orchestra" 2019, Alto Adige; Karmen SarapCilik Vadi 2015, Northern Anatolia, Turkiye; Mariano J. Lacort Rioja Gran Reserva 2009; Val Delle Rose Poggio al Leone Morellino di Scansano Riserva 2019; Weinrieder Marzlese Sweet March GV 2013; Val di Suga Brunello di Montalcino 2015; Bock Chardonnay Battonage 2020 (Villany, Hungary); Nemeth–es-Nemeth Palkonyi Margo 2017, Villany, Hungary; Fehervari Reserve Brut Rose, Nagy-Somlo, Hungary; Arvay Tokaji Single Vineyard Selection Furmint 2018; Chelti Winery, Tsinandali 2020, Kakheti, Georgia.

  8. The reviews like "Wine spectator" are made for wealthy people. Wines starting at $80 are all about marketing price. I don't care about the scores anymore. I find your videos much more exciting to get to know new wines.

  9. Good to see Argiano getting the recognition it deserves ! I recall spending 4 to 5 hours with a Biondi Santi family member when we visited Tuscany long time ago !

  10. Great job Maththew ! Nice lineup, great wines and all somewhat deserve mention but i am with you….although, italy and US are well represented there are other areas with wines that represent a bit more diversity in taste. Some beauties from Spain, Portugal and Greece!!!! to round off Europe and how about Australia? anything from south America? Come on Wine Spectator, lets open up to the rest of the world:) please….

  11. Lynch Bages never disappoints Too bad I can't afford it anymore Had the 2005 out of magnum this summer It was excellent

  12. I agree WS top ten is vanilla! Prices for domestic wines seem to be getting crazy. At least there was a 40. Pinot …. I’ll be interested in seeing the rest of top 100

  13. Wow. Brunello is a lot more in the USA! No way I'd pay 90 for argiano. As far as argiano brunello 2018 goes, meh. Dont understand how its snuck in at number 1…. Nice wine but not spectacular and especially not at 90 dollars.

As far as Bordeaux goes…. Always have to include at least one it seems although the more wine i drink the less Bordeaux i seem to drink. Hard to find well priced thats drinking right now. It seems whenever someone ups their game, 10+ years later when the wine is right, the price has gone through the roof…. And im not interested in collecting wine long term.

  14. Argiano Brunello costs 40€ in Luxembourg. I still wouldn't buy it, there are way better Brunello.

  15. You need to stop going through these lists. It’s going to make you one of them. Your palate needs some adjustments.

  16. My fav Antinori value wine is the Badia a Passignano Gran Selezione Chianti Classico, and Radici Fiano de Avellino is delicious white!!

  17. I agree with your comments. No big surprises. Having said that Lynch Bages is indeed a fantastic Bordeaux. I have tasted around 25 of the grand cru classe wines and Lynch Bages ranks amongst the best
