Arran Distillers was founded by Harold Currie, former director of Chivas, in 1994, with the intention of building a distillery on Arran. Production began at Arran’s first distillery in Lochranza in 1995. While other locations were considered, Lochranza was chosen due to the close proximity to Loch na Davie, a special source of fresh water for distilling.
This bottling has been finished in ex-Amarone Wine Casks, a bold Italian red. The light delicate spirit produced at Lochranza is perfect for picking up the rich flavours from the Amatrone cask. It is also left at 50% abv so none of the flavour is “watered out.”
