Join us in “Exploring Tuscany: A Day Trip from Florence” as we embark on a captivating journey through the enchanting Tuscany region. In this 3000-character video, we’ll traverse the streets, hills, and landscapes of Tuscany, beginning our adventure in the beautiful city of Florence.
Our journey starts at the front of Santa Maria Novella train station in Florence, where we’ll meet at 7:45 AM. Look out for our guide holding a WALKABOUT TOURS sign, and then we’ll head to Siena, an hour and 15-minute drive away. Siena, a medieval gem, is famous for its historic charm and renowned cathedral.
In Siena Florence, we’ll enjoy a one-hour guided walking tour, including an exclusive visit to the awe-inspiring Siena Cathedral. Afterward, you’ll have free time to explore Siena at your own pace, whether it’s shopping or sipping coffee at an open-air café.
Our guide will lead us through Siena’s picturesque backstreets, introducing us to the city’s unique feature – the 17 districts known as “contrade.” Each contrada has its own symbol, often an animal, and strong rivalries exist among them, especially during the famous Palio horserace held twice a year in Piazza del Campo Florence.
The tour culminates in Piazza del Campo, one of the world’s most beautiful squares, where we’ll learn about the historic Palio horse race. Our walking tour concludes inside the awe-inspiring Duomo of Siena, with its remarkable floor and exquisite marbles.
After our morning in Siena, we’ll head to Fattoria Poggio Alloro, an organic family-run wine estate, for an informal wine tasting lesson and a traditional Tuscan lunch. This picturesque location offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
Next, we’ll explore the smaller walled town of San Gimignano, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, famous for its iconic towers. You’ll have a map to navigate its charming streets and squares.
Our last stop is Pisa, where you’ll have about an hour to explore the Square of Miracles, including the Leaning Tower. The option to climb the tower and enjoy breathtaking views is available.
After Pisa, we’ll return to Florence, ending our day at the starting point. Join us in this video to discover the treasures of Tuscany and experience its beauty, history, and culinary delights.
