What We’ve Learned Living In Italy. Life In Italy has definitely been a great adventure, for the both of us. As American expats, we moved to Italy, two and a half years ago, to live, full-time. And we have not looked back, once. Life here is so beautiful and peaceful. We are in love with living in Italy. Still though, there are some differences, that we have noticed, or had to get used to, or cultural differences that we have seen, first hand, that we want to share with you, in this episode, to help you, should you plan to visit, or move to Italy. In this episode, we have put together some of the things that we have noticed.
We are Michael and Justin!
We are American expats, living now, full time, in beautiful Calabria Italy, in wonderful Scalea. Michael is physically disabled, with mobility issues. As we vlog Italy, we do like to show in our videos, that anyone can dare to dream of life in Italy, regardless of mobility issues. The truth is, Italy mobility can, at times, be challenging. But, never impossible. So, come along with us on our adventures in Calabria, and beyond! We experience Italy living to the very fullest. And we invite you along! Join us, as we give you this Calabria Italy tour, showing you Italy lifestyle, culture, and food.
We would like to thank you for taking the time to watch our channel. And, as always, we dare you to dream. Baci Baci!

What do you want to know about life in Italy? Let us know…
very interesting. i gotta share this on twitter. americans are gonna love it. baci baci
RESPECT, makes our small town near Milano a peaceful and livable place to live. Unique standard of living; difficult to tell who is rich or poor; everyone coexisting peacefully in all public spaces; one bar, restaurants, parks, and more. But guys, you are in a greatt place, you got a piece of paradise. A lullaby song and the tranquill sound of the waves, I hear on your background quickly put me to sleep. Tanti baci da Milano ❤
Calabria è Dolce Vita. Le Persone sono dolci e rilassanti. Grazie Justin e Michael per il Video a presto Antonio. Baci Baci 😘
Justin posso chiedere che lavoro fai a Scalea?
Hi Guys- LOVE the new intro, very professional!
Thank you for sharing your experiences and advice. My time so far in Calabria has enriched my life and I feel blessed to be among a wonderful culture and people. Offending anyone, inadvertently, is my personal nightmare, well worth seeking to understand, and love one another., which is true everywhere in the world, now more than ever❤❤❤
And the locks/ door thing cannot be understated! I am a slow learner! Lol. Love you guys!
I cannot believe that people travel to other countries and don’t even try to learn a little about the culture before they get there. And learn how to say thank you at least.
Great job with the intro!! It was awesome to meet you last night after following for a couple of years!!! We are so excited to be here looking for property and you guys are part of the reason we wound up here!! Thanks for all your hard work!!!😘
RESPECT…if there was more of this in the world, we'd be a much happier planet, full stop! Well done my friends and thank you so much for sharing your observations and what you've learnt! Great knowledge for everyone ☺😍Also…AUGURI and congratulazioni for your 2000 Subs!!! 🤩🥰🥂
Hey guys. Very well put together and so true. I would add, though, that it really is important to speak more than basic Italian. However, living in Italy, you can pick up the language if you don't intend to go to a school to learn or you can buy an Italian language book. Thank you for sharing. Much love ❤️ 😍
Congratulations on 2k subs. I really thought that this channel had 100k subs. Because of all the great and excellent content you two give every week. You guys make me want to get on a plane and move to Italy tomorrow. So tired of the fast pace in the U. S.
You should post this video every 6 months as a public information alert, too many ""all about me people"" in the world.
Hi Miss Karen!!!
I have a suggestion for a video you might do even though it might seem dull to some viewers.
As a recent arrival in Italy, this would be some of the day to day issues we've been dealing with, like how to deal with trash or how to pay for utility bills or even the differences between Italian and USA post offices. You get the idea.
As another gay couple and myself disabled, I can't tell you how enjoyable and encouraging your videos are!
Love the new intro!… and yes, all these suggestions and info stated is vital info… don't have expectations things will look, feel and be the same as back "home"… if you want that I say stay there…
Take in the cultural differences and be open minded… you'll be amazed how enriching it is. Thanks guys😘😘
Simply put , I think you guys are just GREAT ! … I have lived in Italy and have had the pleasure of visiting family in Italy on numerous trips . To say I love Italy and the Italian culture would be an understatement ! ………. Your knowledge, practical tips, recommendations, etc… are fantastic, practical and so helpful ! I'm so glad you highlighted the importance of respecting the culture and surroundings. That's really a win win for everyone . ( Or should be. ) Thanks to both of you for a great video !
Hi guys, again a great reflection of the ex-Pat experience. I share many of your observations and minds. Come to experience the culture, show respect, patience, and be adaptable. I chose to leave the US and don’t seek to recreate that culture here in Italy. As always, a fun and informative video.
It's so interesting listening to your comparisons. I'm from South Africa but from Italian decent and have an Italian passport.👍 From my travels I found far less differences between places, I think the U.S. has the most differences, no disrespect though, I think very highly of the U.S.. I do agree with everything you guys are talking about, great to have comparisons.❤
The alcohol thing is so true, most Italians grow up seeing it being a part of dinner, a glass or two of wine with your meal. I think that has something to do with it. I also agree that they are so humble, only have what they really need. I love it.❤
Totally agree, you need to get a feel of the place by being there. I fell for places there that I'd never heard of before I visited. Great advice guys, love watching your content.👍
Thank you!!!! I have a question. How is Paola for walking around and not having a car? Is it too hilly? Grazie!
Great new intro! As always, great video as always!
Arriving in Scalea tomorrow, Friday 20th, so excited I'm never gonna get to sleep tonight! Hope to run into y'all, your videos the last 2 years have peaked my curiosity about Calabria. Been rewatching all your episodes looking for all the best and economical restaurants and things to do. Looking forward to the Monday market I think it was and wandering the Centro Storico! Yay! Thanks again for all you do! ❤
