Where can you find the best Italian food in New York City? @NOTANOTHERCOOKINGSHOW’s Stephen Cusato recommends Emilio’s Ballato, located at 55 E Houston Street in Soho. Emilio’s is as old school as it gets—a classic “red sauce joint” that offers behemoth portions of chicken parmesan and spaghetti al pomodoro. But to get the most out of Emilio’s, you have to act like a regular, which means ordering secret, off-menu specialties, and entering through the kitchen like it’s a mf’ing Scorsese flick. As the mastermind behind Not Another Cooking Show, Stephen knows a thing or two about hearty Italian-American cooking. And on the premiere episode of Rec Team NYC, he breaks down the keys to enjoying a life-changing meal at one of New York’s most legendary Italian eateries.

At Rec Team NYC, we invite our favorite creators to “recommend” one special place for viewers to visit. Our mission is to spotlight corners of New York (and other cities) that are amazing, but sometimes overlooked. We’re brand new here. So if you like our videos, please consider supporting us by subscribing to our channel.

  2. Thank you for sharing this little gem. Makes me want to get on a plane right now!

  3. This style of Italian restaurant is indicative of some of nicest I’ve dined at. Elegant, yet simplistic cuisine at its best. Steve‘s got great taste – pun intended!

  4. This sounds just like Da Emma in montreal, it’s where all the celebrities have been, like eating at Nona’s house (I prefer more sophisticated Italian cuisine that’s harder for me to prepare at home lol) but it’s a budget friendly restaurant that is very cozy 😊
