This episode explores little vignettes of our life in the countryside of Tuscany, Italy, with a little baby. We harvest the olives for olive oil, start building a DIY cubby house, cook with freshly picked vegetables and herbs from the garden, and throw a baptism party for Gianfranco.

Every day I get so many emails and comments asking why you can’t locate the music I use or find it using Shazam. I purchase music licenses for almost all the music you hear in my videos. I buy them them from various royalty-free production music sites and most of the time they don’t list the performer because it’s music made only for film productions with an audio watermark throughout the entire track, unless you purchase the single-use license for $50-100 per track. I use a lot of opera so often I’ll reference the opera but I won’t be able to direct you to a recording of that specific performance that you could stream or buy on iTunes or Spotify. Hope that clears things up and thank you for appreciating quality music.

hang small bells on a rod or windchimes for him to play with..its pleasing and fun for a child.Maybe a very tiny cupboard with several doors that have little toys in them..like an advent calender. I like a tall gate with some solid panels but very plain so as not to make strangers wonder even more.
I loved the video. I had the same problem with random people coming onto my property and feeling as if they had a right to be there. I even had someone try to store furniture in my garden shed. I wonder whose raising these people. Stay safe.
Goodness, so many things to truly enjoy. Your swimming pool, and the joy it brings everyone in your extended family, you did that ! The gentleness of a christening and taking us shopping in Florence, no less, but I love your baby's healthy interaction with his grandparents – gardening, building, no wonder a little man sleeps all night.
Is it possible to have a wireless intercom and camera on your new gates. Sooner rather than later ? And there will always be the need to 'keep the horses in' so a highly visible electric tape would be expected, and is a psychological barrier to your home and surrounds.
Good girl, good Mum, just that xo
We too have a metal gate with a remote control system. 21 years. Ours is black with beautiful decor. We are very Catholic & Baptism is very important in the Spanish /American culture. Esta la proxima. Great cooking delish.❤
So lovely Kylie ❤ Lots of Love from Switzerland Jenny
Rising for the sunset with your beautiful son after being breastfed is something you will always cherish and remember. I was surprised to hear the statistics and views on breastfeeding in Italy and letting a child cry to sleep. I am approaching soon the last year of my 60’s. I had four children and nursed all of them until a year of course they were eating food at that point and they really only nursed at bedtime and in the morning and on the occasion where they were hurt or feeling upset. I never let them cry. They were always comforted . They are adults now close in age to you Kylie. They are kind, compassionate, love nature and respect others. I smiled when I saw the clothing ( so sweet ) for Gianfranco’s christening. When my son was baptized my mother had just returned from Italy and brought him the same socks but they were embroidered with a small red flower. His sons wore them for their baptisms along with a christening gown that has been in our family for 75 years . Please install gates, cameras and what ever else you would need to keep you all safe. Thank you for the beauty you create. The world needs beauty.
Hi Kylie! I have been watching your channel for over a year now and as an Italian in the U.S, I love your cooking and recipes. The downside is I am known as a great cook so I never get invited to someone else’s house for dinner…🙃 I think they are afraid to cook for me. I miss my Nona so much as she passed a few years ago and taught me everything about cooking with fresh ingredients. We are from Napoli and I love the elderly Italians. They always have great stories of their life in Italy. Can you do a few short vignette’s interviewing them? They are so fun with their big personalities. I guess most of us have that in common… lol Thank you!!!
Ciao Kylie, I was excited to see that you’ve been in Florence (the first image you showed in Florence is near my house)! I love seeing Florence in your videos! Happy that you had lots of olives as our family friend had just a few this year, he was so disappointed! My gosh Gianfranco is almost a year, how amazing is that! The baptism it’s such an important milestone in his and your lives! Happy to be participating even if only virtually! I feel like I am also part of the family! Stunning video, looks so effortless but I know the amount of work you put in them! Glad to see you all well!
P.S- in orthodox religion babies are born with an inherited sin which they would get rid of only after the baptism. If a baby dies before baptisms it’s believed that they go to hell as they still have the original sin in them. The baptism for this reason it’s held 6 weeks after the baby is born and if the baby is sick and risking to die they do it straight away to make sure that the baby will go to heaven.
Чем труднее роды и переживания,тем прекрасней дети👶
Lots of kisses from Greece!!!You are really inspiring!❤
When you do the gate, please please please get a fence for the pool or a sturdy automatic cover. Gian Franco will be hugely mobile soon and pools are draws for wandering kids.
The sounds of a happy baby always grabs at my heart!! He sure is growing fast….sweet baby boy!!! Kylie the baptism was so beautiful and what a blessing to be able to celebrate with loved ones surrounding Gianfranco!! I really enjoyed this video as well as ALL your videos…it was good seeing you again on here!! 🙂
Seeing Gianfranco gardening and harvesting with you was so precious. It's the everyday rituals like that, and cooking etc that can be so stimulating for all the senses, and are a solid foundation of appreciation for food and nature, the seasons and investigating what's around you. I come from a long line of children being involved in every aspect of the food enjoyed together, and passed it on. Never a dull moment and no conflicts involved getting groceries or cooking if you just care enough to involve them.
I find eating also just comes naturally as a result. Unfortunately Italy and France are still countries stuck on formula and no breastfeeding. They are way behind in these aspects. I think it's partly to do with the fact that families well off used to have live in wet nurses for these needs, mothers of fine standing were expected to manage estates and family affairs and had many children so they had the luxury of not being limited for decades of breastfeeding. When formula was introduced it revolutionized the situation for common women. Also there's a whole other aspect of the female breast, who has first dibs, I'm not getting into here, but it's culturally topical and I've heard many a french husband talk about their spouses bosoms in ways that seem extremely out of touch with modern values when this topic arises… 🙄
Then again I know American women who took 3 weeks off in total for having a baby, then got back to their careers.
I'm in Scandinavia, here kids are breastfed as long as they like, solid foods usually just take over naturally when all goes well, and most importantly, we have a VERY long maturnal leave AND paternal leave (which cannot be transferred to the mother), which both parents very much value and changes the entire game as far as these practices go. So politics is really a big part of the cultural evolvement of the ideas of raising the youngest. It's down to economics in most parts of the world, and infancy not becoming a genderized burden on ones means to support the family, pursue careers, have freedom of choice or being able to raise a child in single parent households or with joint custody.
My professional photographer friends are always on about the job being for very early risers. I must say, the footage from your daybreak ritual with the baby are some of the MOST spectacularly beautiful images I've EVER seen of Italy! Absolutely gobsmacked! I've had to go back and watch the beginning and pause the video multiple times, those shots Kylie, would maje the mist incredible large format still photos ever. They're like master paintings from centuries ago, the colors mezmerizing 😍
If I were you, I'd make a point of setting up the best quality camera I could get my hands on to take photos of this time of day, just as the night turns to day. It would make the most remarkable exibition and large format photography book!
I always found the autumn sunsets the most enchanting, but the sunrizes, omg!
Get a gate, for sure. Spearheaded tines aren't important as your fence is simple, just get one that's tall, affordable and functional and will look fine with a coat of pompeiian red or a nice green paint that fits with the surroundings and clearly states it's purpose. Of course I love the artistic fretwork with curves and embellishments, but seriously, that's not important. You need the gate sooner rather than later, and a security camera with a bell and display at the house and automated opening from there, and from your keychains so you don't have to go down to open for deliveries or guests or get out of your car to drive in yourself, that's ALL that matters. CCTV at the gate is important. I'd go with lights if you can get solarcharged ones. If not you'll need a camera that records well in darkness too.
Those considerations are more important, and placing the electrical cables inside the posts, the entire electrical box well inside of the gates for it to be a deterrent to unwelcome "visitors".
Hope Gianfranco is well again!
Take care all of you. 💕🍁🍄LOVE/Jo
Can we order your olive oil?
You can open gates remotely with your mobile phone theses days also, which is very handy.
Hello good family
Can't believe baby's going to be one🎈🎈🎈 happy birthday little one, I love gate's I love filigree work and remember Florence that I went in June for my birthday I was given free artwork when went to art studio so kind and women gave her bus ticket when I was lost didn't realize had to buy before getting on ❤ happy birthday eat cake be merry 🎉🍰
Things your Dad could add could be locks with keys attached (so the key doesn’t get lost) and Gianfranco can use his fine motor skills to open the lock. An activity he can grow into. He might enjoy locks like on a stable door and he can move the lock backwards and forwards ……..
Beautiful! God Bless!
Love the scenery and love recipes.
I have to have a gate so please include a large secured mail box for packages as well as a “man” gate to walk through. Mine is solar powered for automatic entry with key access as well as Wi-Fi cameras. You will be glad you did it.
If it were me I would make sure there would be potential for camera wiring and lighting for the security pov which is what a gate is about in this day and age. Good luck in getting the best one.
I just loved the music in this episode, is there a name for the song playing while you were talking about building the cubby?
I agree with both. We all are loved and innocent when just born.. but we also know perfectly well that as we grow and age we actually loose our innoncence in many ways. I am not without sin, since I have lost innocence during my life.
That is perfectly understandable too because we do live in a dualistic world. We do want the good but we fail many times whatsoever. I regard that is honesty.
SO…. I don't disapprove of what the Catholic Church says. It might be put in archaic vocabulory, but I understand how it came to be.
Many wars are waged by people… yet every person was once just as innocent as Gianfranco… So it can't be both, can it?
Honesty is asking yourself: with all the wars in the world, are people really that innocent?!
It is easy to glorify a baby… It doesn't have an opinion yet to counter your opinions, does it?
Everybody is on the bandwagon to glorify babies. So it is easy to judge a priest who has a far deeper and wider understanding of the nature of this world. Their educations lasts at least 12 years before they are ready to become priests.
It's easy to loose sight of what the world is about when looking at a baby. "The stain of sin" … is the dualistic nature of this world. It is not pertaining to Gianfranco in particular. We are all in the same boat without exclusion. We all participate in a world of radical dualism and you are a saint if you can keep being loving and non-judgemental. Very few go through that narrow gate. But it is sure worth striving for <3
Look up toddler busy board on Google – so many ideas for developing fine motor skills and they are easy to make! Your little fagiolino is so cute and you are such a good mom!
Love your content. Keep up the amazing work and congratulations on the baptism
