Botín Restaurant has kept the flame burning for the past 293 years … literally. Ever since the doors opened in 1725, the oven has been sizzling continuously, never to be extinguished. According to deputy manager Luis Javier Sànchez Alvarez, the oven is the crown jewel of the restaurant and the fundamental element of their most popular dish, the roast suckling pig. The recipes used today have been passed down from generation to generation, keeping the legacy of these traditional dishes alive. With the honor of being the oldest restaurant in the world, Alvarez hopes to keep the doors open for centuries to come.

  12. Visited nearly 50 years ago when I was a young lad in the USAF. Our flight crew landed near Madrid, and our plane commander solicited all of us to accompany him summer of 1976. Quite an adventure for a young teen.

  13. I think I watched this video very early on, when it came out. Always fancied going there but didn't think anything would come of it. What do you have it – I ended up going to Europe for college, happened to visit Madrid, and there you go – I visited Botín in May 🙂 Funny where life takes you! One day you're watching a YouTube video in middle school, and then some other day… this happens

  14. Honke Owariya is 558 years old & still in operation… Japan has a few hundred yrs on Espana in this regard, but both are one of a kind!

  15. Went there over the weekend. Surprisingly I preferred the baby lamb. The pig was lovely though. Great food, great wine, great atmosphere and even better company

  16. Pig meats is far worse than dog meat. Pig is dirtiest animal in the world. That is why it is forbidden to eat in islam. It does not sweat much so its toxins are in its fat and its muscles are full of toxins.
