Do not use the Cabs. Use Black Ubers. A little more money 💰. It's worth not getting ripped off. OUT side of Center Down Town Roma is full of homeless drugs and Prostitution. Very Scary! Especially at night.
I have been to Rome many times since 1958
This June we had 2 incidents.. first when trying to get a ticket for the Metro, we were having trouble with our card. A man and woman came up to us and also helped. He used my card to get tickets and noticed I was carrying 3 euros in my hand. He asked if he could have change for a 20. Found out later that he switched it for a forged bill. Next on the metro from St. Peter’s to the Colessium we tried to get on the metro and a young woman was standing directly in front of the door and would not move. She just stood there expressionless and wouldn’t budge. People sitting across from me were telling to to hold my bag closer to me. I then sat next to them and they told me they were pickpockets. Turns out the group got off at the next stop. We later found out that my backpack had been opened slightly as had my daughters Fanny pack. Exactly what you said. Never riding Metro again. Rome is overrun with scammers, filth and crowds. So sorry to see
Is the Hoxton hotel safe in Benedetto marcello
Common sense tips for any place you go in our world
Was there is April. Absolutely wonderful. How hard should we laugh when an American actually considers staying home for safety?😂😂😂🤡🤡🤡
I hate Europe. Allow firearms to all public. I do not care what people think Just bang-bang!
What an important and amazing video. Thank you very much. And by the way, are the emergency numbers only in Rome or in all of Italy?🙏👏🙏
What sort of comment is this, every city in theworld carries risks try Paris!
What a fabulous, informative channel. I love Italy and remember being warned about pickpockets in Naples 12 years ago. Thank you!
Thanks alot
It has theft but as a dual citizen of Italy and USA, it’s extremely safe. They do have a migrant issue but simply ignore them
Is true.. they Robbed a lot
Is sad.. but is true.. specially in the train and also around the Vatican
I was planning on getting a small amount of cash at the airport upon arrival. I was intending on using the bancomat machines not the ones labeled ATM. My understanding is that as long as these are bank affiliated, they're ok. I have used them previously in Firenze and Milano. Would you agree?
We were in Rome this 2023 summer. A pickpocket tried to rob me on the subway.
If you have a backpack: DON'T write your name and address visible from the back. There are people with contacts in your home country – and now they know that you are not at home! …
I am planning on coming in May of 2024 and I have been rabbit holeing your vids! Such great info you are providing! Thanks so much!! I have been smacking all the likes and have subscibed!!
Mamma mia che belo 🤌 porca madonna 😂🇮🇹
We were there a couple of years ago and honestly I lived in a third world country half my life so I can say I’m more hyper aware of certain things that can be dangerous. There were spots in Rome where I felt that anxiety rise and I will bet that if I let my guard down something would have happen. It’s not the Italians, I have to say, that made me uncomfortable but the sketchy people I saw. I am an immigrant in the US and I don’t like it when people say negative things about us but I’m also realistic and I know that I left my country for a reason and sometimes those reasons also immigrate out of their countries. When there are immigrants who don’t have legal identity in a country and they’re not legally allowed to work they might get involved in very bad things to get by.
It’s very unfortunate as an immigrant to see that those who were bad in our countries also can immigrate and be equally as dangerous in their new country. There are people who are drown to quick money and that’s not going to change here, in Europe, in Asia or in Mars. Be aware of your surroundings, look at people in the eye so they know you’re awake and vigilant. Same things I would tell someone visiting Guatemala I would say to someone visiting any country in Europe. Don’t be dragging around big bags and backpacks. Carry the minimal and be alert. You’ll have a great time and you’ll meet amazing people, local, other tourists, immigrants etc but always be aware of your surroundings. Learn what are the “red” areas in that city and avoid them. I’ve traveled all over Italy, France, Greece and Turkey and these tips are going to be accurate all the time. I’ve had the best time and nothing bad ever happened but I did see stuff happen to other people.
Very helpful! Thanks!
Thanks alot.
Thanks for the tips. Planning a trip to Italy in a few years, and of course, Rome will be one of the destinations. Concerning ATM machines, I never use the private ones that are located outside shops and stuff, even here in Canada, I always go to a bank ATM. When we were in Paris, the most I took out was €40.
I kept my wallet in a drawer at our Airbnb and I kept my cards and money in my shorts pockets, which are hard to access for any pickpocket. My phone was in a side pocket, also hard to access. As for carrying my camera, we spent two weeks in Paris, and I didn't have any issues carrying it on me, even in Saint-Denis, I always kept it close to me.
I learned a trick about pickpockets, if you spot one, just make eye contact and let him/her know you have your eye on them and they won't bother you. They don't want any confrontation (thanks Les Frenchies).
We plan on renting a car, but nto to drive in Rome, it'll be for when we drive from Rome to Larino where my nonno was born. Then go on the Amalfi coast and maybe Tuscny, although, in which oder, we're not sure yet.
I'll check out more of your videos for more tips! Bonjour! Hi! from Montréal, QC Canada!
Great information!!!
