The Italian Riveria is a truly magical part of one of my favorite countries in the world. If you get the chance and are planning a trip to somewhere like Genoa, Portofino, or Cinque Terre, be sure not to miss out on all of these incredible other spots along the way.

Parlando di mare e coste im goin in SARDEGNA soon! grazie per il video
YES. IMHO: The cheaper places are the only way to go for me. You get to a point in age and experience where you realize you're only sleeping resting or using the bathroom and saving a small fortune by being frugal is the only intelligent way to go. I recently had a friend go to the Maldives for under $40 a night. He snorkeled and explored the very same beautiful waters that the people paying $4000 a night enjoyed. It took me a long time to figure out to be smart with my money especially on travel. Thank you for your excellent videos. They are well produced, quite enjoyable and highly instructive.❤️
I should try the Italian riviera, because in the Mayan Riviera, like Cancun, there are shootouts and murdered people every night.
Wonderful. Thank you. This was my 'introduction' to your channel and I was simply impressed. Your style of travel is very much like my own: I'm not independently wealthy, so I have to balance the 'finer' places and moments of travel with the more practical and cost-effective. I'll often stay in a 5-Star Hotel one night and an austere Hostel the next. Sometimes, the more 'practical' prove to be just as magical as the more expensive. You use the same 'booking' website that I use for Hotels, as well. I also like the way you are warm and charming, but not all 'glamorous' and making it all about 'you' like an Instagram influencer. Don't worry though, you 'influenced' me plenty with informative, practical, and inspiring content and presentation. Grazie!

Peccato, non ha piovuto per due mesi prima dei video! 😂
Liked the new style for the intro. Excellent video as always. Thank you 🙏
Thank you Laura for a very informative vlog. I have wanted to travel and live in Italy for over 40 years. I finally got there in 2017 and I fell completely in love. I threw several coins in the Trevi fountain at the time and fingers crossed 2022/2023 will be the year I return 🤞🏻🥰
I needed a place to stay at the last minute in London. It was the middle of summer, Saturday, and all I could get was a room that was literally the size of a jail cell for about $100. And this was back in 1999.
Laura: A new awareness. (for me at least). When I watch excellent YouTube's like yours it allows me to fairly confidently "rule in" or "rule out" places I want to go as a high priority. For example, having been to Italy several times I didn't realize how much more of it I want to visit until I saw your videos. However, and perhaps more importantly, the high quality travel YouTube's of today I think are amazingly beneficial to us in that it's helping me "rule out" more places than I ever imagined ! The amount of financial savings almost lost and the inevitable frustration of not loving a trip is all avoided thanks to your good work. I use to think I had this outrageously long bucket list but you have helped me "prune" it considerably. 🙏
Hi Laura, I absolutely love your videos, thank you so much. Your presentation is wonderful, informative and just pleasure to watch. Italy and Croatia have always been my 'to go' places and I was mesmerised with your Italian adventures. Your energy, enthusiasm coupled with the beautiful places are a delight to watch. Stay safe and I cannot wait to see more of your travels, best wishes, Jon.
On your next trip to Italy you need to check out Sicily.
Great video. I would love to go to Italy but it's quite expensive from central Van Island and of course Canadian dollars don't go as far as US. Glad I get see some beautiful places thru your eyes Txs
Your videos are very inspiring… thanks for sharing!
Thank you and Good morning Laura for this lovely compilation. One day I shall go and will definitely follow your suggestions.
Unbelievable, I saw your video on San Jose del Cabo and now I see you in my country. I am living in Merida (Yucatan) since 9 years, we visited also Baja California Sur and we fell in love with La Paz but we didn't visit San Jose (a sufficient reason to come back). Now I am gonna visit my parents in Rome and we were thinking to visit la Riviera in Liguria, we are very attracted from Bordighera. I would be very curious to know your opinion about these places and about living in San Jose
This is so informational, thank you so much! I am flying into Milan at the end of Aug-Begining of September, and planned 5 full days on the Italian Rivera. I decided to stay at Rapollo (visit Rapallo, Portofino, and Santa Margherita Ligure) and Cinque Terre. This might be too specific but based on your experience, how would you break up the full five days? Thank you again for your insight in your videos:)
Hello Laura. Great videos, just how i like ! We, a family of 4 are off to Rapallo in 3 weeks. Thank you for all your tips.
Really enjoyed the video, having today booked 4 nights in Monterosso for September, and having previously enjoyed a wonderful few days in Rapallo. Am now watching the individual videos for the area too, lovely to see a friendly informative style which is a lot more about “look at this!” rather than the “look at me!” style of some of the other blogs I’ve seen on the area. Thanks Laura!
PS Also great to see content from a solo traveller like me, all the other videos I’ve seen are from couples or families
A helpful video. Thank you. Grazie mille
Any recommendations on an itinerary for 4 days? Trying to sneak this area in between Rome and Paris. Probably would look like flying into Genoa on Morning 1 and flying out on morning 5. Staying in one town that is easy to access the others by ferry or train, or staying in two different towns. What would you recommend. Love the channel!
Ooh, I miss Italy so much. Your videos have me planning my future trip.
Ciao Laura e grazie mille for your warm style and fantastic information. Italy has my heart too, I have been many times over the years but always to Milan, Florence and Venice. This year I am planning a 2-week trip this October. I will be in Israel visiting family so my plan is to fly from Israel to the airport in Nice and take the train to Bordighera (rent an air bnb) as a home base and take day trips from there. I am an active senior but feel I need a base to go and return to. Question? Can I take those day trips on a bus or train or do I need to rent a car? Thanks for any wisdom you can offer.
Great vlog! I've only been to the Naples area in Italy so far but would like to check out Liguria some day.
Did you use a rolling suitcase or a backpack 🎒 & recommendation either way ?
I’m planning to solo trip from rome to cinque terra by train and from there to portofino/st.margarita by bus and come back to portofino by the boat just for the view.
Thank you Laura, for such helpful and interesting information. I plan on being in the area in September and am considering these places. You make everything look so good, especially the food! Any ideas on Alessio or North of Genoa?
Just saw cheap flights to Genoa for April-May 2023 so this was a perfect video. Thank you! I love this so much
In camogli I stayed in 2012 for 450 euros a week very close to the beach, half a boost, on a 4 th sorry building, we used that as our hub. Was amazing. Was a Two bedroom, we washed our closets; cooked, eat, etc..focaccia , very close, I think ravello
Promontorio de portofino
Thank you for your video, is so good. I have been there, except Genoa..I wanted the small places. You give good details. That area is all beautiful.
That’s my dream too. Happy you accomplish it! What area did you moved?
Is April a good time of the year to visit Cinque Terre?
Dear Laura, there is a hidden beach that i went, recommended by my book, at that time..cúneo..you have to walk cause it missed the train. Is nudist…by the way..only went there to check it out, wanted to see it
Hello Laura, thanks for doing videos on this region, looks like you've explored alot of the area. I like your style of videos, and that you show more of the reality of the place and not just the postcard view, and all food. I'm going at the end of October to this area for 2 days, as part of a 2 week Italian vacation to other regions. I'm trying to decide if I should stay in Santa Margherita Ligure or Cinque Terre, I'm taking the train there and back from Milan. I know everyone raves about the Cinque Terre, but I'm trying to understand what the appeal is. Is it just from doing the hikes? I'm sure the views are much more magnificent in person. The towns look somewhat rough and ramshackle, and I understand things might be closed at the end of October. I'd rather go when it's cooler in October or April when you went, being in Italy when it's 90 degrees isn't very fun, not sure why it's jammed in the high heat. I guess Santa Margherita Ligure looks like it has much nicer ornate architecture and what I imagine a "Riviera" place on the ocean. I've traveled in Italy 2 times before but not to this region yet. Also would it be possible to bike from Santa Margherita Ligure to Portofino? I enjoy biking more than walking long distances personally.
Ciao Laura, felice che ti piaccia il nostro Paese… please Genova…no Genoa! Ok?! Ciaooo
Hello. I want to fly to the Italian Riviera from Nice next summer starting July 1st. I will fly into Genoa from Nice. I was thinking about getting a hotel room in Genoa and pay for a 7 day stay and use those 7 days to travel to La Riviera and Cinque Terre. I don't mind paying additional days at any of the cities in either La Riviera or in Cinque Terre. Your thoughts? Money is not an issue and I would welcome your suggestions.
Did you pop into Sestri Levante? If not, it's definitely one to add to the list. As all other small towns along the Riviera it's magical in its own unique way! Loved your video! I too have a love affair with Bella Italia that only grows the more i see and experience! Safe travels to you and i'll look forward to more of your videos to come. Ciao
Great video. I have a question. I have been to Vernazza and Montrosso before on a cruise ship and now I am coming back on a cruise ship again. This time I was thinking of seeing the 5 towns from the water. The ship offers an excursion to start ofl on a tour in Portovenere and a boat tour from Portovenere to see the 5 villages with a stop at Monterosso. What's your thought of seeing from the water by motorboat?
Can you attach the link of the Airbnb you stayed at in Camoglia? Traveling on a budget! Thanks for all the info!
Very informative! Grazie!
Thank you. I’ve planned various Italy itinerary’s trying to combine Tuscany and coastal areas. Puglia, Sicily, Sardinia, Isola D’Elba! The Italian Riviera is exactly what I was searching for this trip. Would you put Florence in the front or end of a trip such as featured in this video? It would be nice to end with a few days in Genoa before returning back to the USA.
Greetings. Traveling to the Italian Rivera mid April with 5 adults. It is a 6 day trip so we would like to stay in one location. We are planning on getting a car. I found a fantastic airbnb in Moconesi but not sure if it is a convenient location for day trips. Also, is it easy to drive and park in the Rivera?
Hello Laura thank you for such an informative blog! It has been nine months since you posted, so I trust that you find my message. We are planning a trip in late November to London, Paris, Côte d’Azur and the Italian Rivera, spending about three months. Because we are researching where to live permanently, I don’t want to miss any crevice lol. Since the Rivera will be our last leg of the trip with so many seaside towns to explore, where do you consider to be the best base on the entire Italian Rivera, where a hotel is very affordable to allow an overnight stay in one the other towns. We want to end our search near Nice International Airport for the flight back home. Thanks so much for your input. Safe travels…
Was it very cold?
Laura: Thank you for your video. I want to go to the Italian Rivera and have booked a hotel in Rapallo. Is that a good place to make a home base. They had more affordable hotels but I want a location that makes sense and I can get to Cinque Terre. Should I choose 2 sites as home base? Please advise.
Thanks for a great video? Did you find Italy was less crowded when you went back in September?
Wonderful so helpful. ❤
Hi Laura, I'm planning to go to Italy in in July and my first stop will be Milano. I would like to go on a day trip from Milan to Genoa, Saint Margherita Lingure, Portofino then back to Milan by the end of the day. Can you advise what are the best transportation options ( money and time wise) to use?
amazing video ευχαριστώ!!!!! Yiota from Greece
